- This week, I'm with Burnley manager and Premier League legend Vincent Kompany at the club's Barnfield Training Centre as he takes on Quickfire Questions on The Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet.
During his playing days at Anderlecht, Vincent donned the number 27 shirt, so it felt like a fitting tribute to ask him 27 questions as we walk around his new stomping ground in the heart of Burnley.
We discuss his time at Manchester City and Belgium, facing a young Kylian Mbappé against Monaco, and we also delve into the true origin of where French fries come from!
The full interview will be released next week, so make sure to subscribe now and turn on notifications if you like!

He is going all the way as a manager. Incredible attitude and thoughtfulness. Special guy.
He'll have a hell of a test this year, The prem makes or breaks managers
I think he will go all the way aswell. As right as you are, prem make or break. But imo Vincent has something special about him.
He is so intelligent and disiplined. Looking forward to see him in the prem
@@ReverZe83he’s only got Burnley to work with. One day he will be at the wheel of Man City
@ryanphilpotts5821 I very much doubt that but I could be wrong.
As a Liverpool fan, I could never seem to dislike Kompany. As much as I tried I always thought he was a great player and seemed a top bloke.
Same here mate, some clubs you dislike always have at least 1 player you can't help but admire, vince is defo one of em, proper captain
Same coming from a United fan here. Seems like a good man and honestly a player that, at his prime, any team would have been lucky to have.
Why would you try to hate someone you don't know?
@@_Highvalue_are you new to football or something?
One of the only city players I ever liked. No falseness and he really understands football. When he said “north west of England”, you get the impression that he REALLY understands the game. It’s where the a lot of the founding members of the football league are Accrington, Bolton, Burnley, Blackburn, Preston, Everton.
When you see those old stadiums like Goodison & Turf Moor just looming up out of the houses in the middle of a town and go through the old turnstiles that are so small and cramped; you really start to feel something change inside you. You realise that this has been going on for 150 years and that players like Sir Tom Finney & Sir Stanley Matthews will have once gone through the same turnstiles. You realise that you’re part of the history too.
Well said!
UP THE NORTH WEST 💙❤️🤍🖤💜❤️💙
Am i the only one who loves Kompany's accent? Its like a proper english accent with the odd touch of French speaker to it🤯
And dutch as well
What a man! What a player! What a Manager!
Always our Captain! Here's to you Vincent Kompany 💙
I always enjoy listening to Vincent Kompany. A very intelligent man, who takes his time to give full explanations when answering questions and provides contexts and back stories where necessary.
Joe Hart will always be a City legend, at least in my eyes, for all the things Vinny mentioned
Thats not up for debate
Nobody disagrees just didn’t fit peps description with the whole playing with feet thing
not even a question. Joe Hart is CITY
he is!
Joe Hart was the only City player I ever liked. Felt bad to see his career go downhill since 2016
Just a very intelligent, down to earth fella. Regardless of who you support, you just cannot dislike Vincent Kompany.
Arsenal fan here, big respect to Vincent top player and even better leader. Can see why he would demand allot of respect from fellow players
Respect!
I remember buying kompany on LMA manger he was like 16/17 & he’s now manger of Burnley 😂😂 where did the time go man.
City fan and i did the same the 07/08. Still got the game, he was cheap, cheap wages a good player and he always left after a few years 😂
Kompany and Vanden Borre 🙌
LMA manager is a throwback! great games
@@garymc1105 I would get vanden borre and my bro would get kompany lol
Quick dry cement
King Midas
I can see him taking over from PEP in 2 yrs time. He knows my club in & out. Vinny good luck in Burnley. Do great so you can come back🩵💙🩵💙🩵💙
Can’t stop thinking about the fact that he was kicked out of school and yet so clearly has so much to offer the world. Hate the idea that others are thrown on the scrap heap in the same situation.
Yep it’s a tale as old as time…
Well said

Gary Neville big up yourself, absolutely love the overlap 🫶🏼
Nice one Henry! 🤝
As a Liverpool fan that Leicester goal was insane. What a player and man
Fair play 🤝
Bet you’ve never been to Anfield
@@bigdog2432 🤡
heres to you vincent kompany... what a man
United fan bur god he's likeable! Got so much respect for him.
One of the most likable players in premier League history. Could never dislike him no matter how much i tried
A man so good i named my channel after him. Love you Vinnie
Love you Stephen
Where do you want your statue Esteemed Kompany! 🤣
Kompany has to stay at Burnley for at least 3-5 years. The fluidity he speaks about football at its purist, his burning desire is breathtaking.
Update; he may leave soon😭😂
Hope burnley survive icl
Bright, lovely guy and what a player he was!
a city legend
United fan here, but this man is pure quality. Respect!
Listening to that makes you realise why he will succeed as a manager . Will be one of the greatest .
Even as a rival fan I’ve always found Kompany very interesting to watch/listen. Great player and manager. Good interview
He's special
So thoughtful and so wise
So mild mannered
Going places!
Always loved Vincent Kompany, a fantastic natural Leader always said he would be an amazing manager and I hope he goes on to achieve great things in football management which I think we can all agree he will.
Love this but would’ve liked to have seen some more Burnley related questions. Can’t wait for this season watching VK’s tricky clarets
Main episode is next week, we have lots to get through on the clarets!
Looking forward to seeing how he takes to the Premier League 👀
I love Kompany , he is an example for Many people. Hope one day to see him managing top 4 teams
We at Burnley are so very, very lucky to have him and Bellamy as our manager.
Great things are coming. UtC
great player and a good manager already. His thinking of the game is immense
Met him in a hotel last year, when he was away with the squad. Absolute gentleman.
I said it every time, but I love these interviews. Everyone seems lovely and it's just great to see you all getting on so well.
Great job Gary and the team
Thank you!
What a pleasure listening to such an articulate person (Vincent Kompany).
Just about to finish work at this moment in time, going to have an evening meal whereby I eat and watch the overlap at the same time
Kompany's ball knowledge is elite
Vincent ❤
Never in my life being starstruck by anyone except him. RSCA came to play my favorite team (Antwerp) and me and some other guys would give the kick off. I came out of the player tunnel and he just passed me to go back in after the warm up. He has an aura over him that reaches pretty far. Can not put it any other way. Wanted to say something, think wanted to ask a selfie, but just could not speak a word due to his presence.
Great character, feet on ground, relaxed and friendly... 💪
Nice for the overlap to get a proper geezer in
Love this interview between Vinny and Gary.
Vincent, was a great player and leader for Man City and now is a great Manager.
Training ground looking on point. Yes Vincent
I loved this one and the corresponding interview. What an incredibly interesting and intelligent guy. Listening to this made me think he's going to go far as a manager.
Outstanding player and human being
I can listen to him all day. Legend 💙
Here’s to you Vincent Kompany! CITY LOVES you more than you will know!
Keep the content coming Eddie. Fantastic
Excellence as always Gary and what a guy Vincent seems to be. The rest of the episode should be another cracker to add to the long list.
By far the best Overlap interviewee.
This guy is a born leader. And what a majestic player.
Such a nice bloke.
These videos are great! Can always like these videos before a word is spoken. You just know it will be good
One of the favourite player in City shirt. Massive respect.... From Liverpool fan
Such a great insight on how keepers are and the change over the last 10-15 years. Much like big men in basketball that were taught posting up as kids and never developed the 3 ball and now they're unemployed.
Top player and top bloke, prem legend
Overlap is one of the best things on RUclips. A sports fans dream
Best interview ever.
Genius man! Steak and fries are some serious good meal goes with a delicious peppersauce
United fan, hated him when we played against him but what a top bloke, great interview!
I always said " if my life depended on a top player becoming a top manager" then Vincent Kompany would have been my choice . I'm hoping he does great at Burnley , then comes back home and Manage Man City .
What a strange thing to always say
Hindsight merchant 😊
What a man. Not a city fan, but he is amazing x
Such a likeable person
North West answer proper got Gary great ep 🩵
Amazing human being! I am a United fan but I love this man 😬
Great videos guys keep it up.
Still can't believe how he got disrespected by Wouter vdh at the end at Anderlecht. I mean he thought he could just easily replace him by someone else... Vinny, you are more Anderlecht than everyone who is now with us. We love you and will always support you. ( I cried the day they announced he left )
As a United fan I really disliked him until I heard him speak and now I realise what a bloody good bloke he is. Need more like him in football
Great interview
Thanks!
I remember watching that goal and shouting out worldy but more than that a little late you were just in your half and all you could hear was shoooot😂
What a fella absolutely love the 'no regrets'
What a player what a leader what a manager
Maybe the best Overlap yet ?
As an Everton fan, i really admire and like Kompany. Whatever it is, he has it. He’ll go to the top in management like he did as a player
Brilliant! An articulate footballer.
Just the 17 minutes on the quick fire questions :D
Seems like a top bloke, always respected him as a player
The year he scored that goal, we lost Vidic early in the season, City kept Kompany fit all the season. The other way around we would have won the league. I am giving VK credit, he is one of them rare players who can impact the importance of everyone around him.
💯
Impact the importance of everyone around him? What does this even mean
What a great guy.
Certain people in the world have an aura about them. Vincent kompany is one of them!!!
He's done a belter job at burnley
I love listening to this man speak (Vincent, sorry Gary). I was a bit gutted when I found out you wouldn't be taking the Spurs job this summer, but I hope all the best for you. Maybe when Ange retires....?
As a Spurs Fan, I love Kompany he really was one of the best Centre Backs I have ever seen
Brilliant answer on joe hart. 👏 Might be too soon to manage city straight after pep but he's going to return one day.
Do one with Martin Tyler, he deserves it as a send off since he is leaving sky
He is a happy man
Kompany is superb!
When we 1st announced VK as our manager, even us Clarets weren't over confident.........but the 1st time we heard him speak about his plan, what he wanted and his obvious passion and desire, we were swooned.
Then after the best ever season I've witnessed in my 25 years as a claret, as long as he doesn't shit on us, his name will go down as a claret legend.
If he leaves this season, or in the next few to big club I don't think anyone could blame him. If he left for a club of a similar stature, then it would just be reminiscent of Owen Coyle to Bolton.
Thing i love about Kompany is that the more you hear him speak, the more you can hear his accent turning a bit manc-y 😂 What a top bloke too; hope he does really well with Burnley this season
Don't know anything about Kompany but just from the first two questions, I already like him
Vince the prince!..tu déchires tout.#rsca
I am sure Kompany will be a very special coach as much as he was a player. Wish him a great run now that Burnley are back in the premier league!
Not many City players that I’ve liked but he is definitely one of them.
As a united supporter. I rate kompany highly as a player and captain. Big respect foe this man.
Kompany is truly one of the goats.
Good guy!
I feel like I shouldn’t be shocked that there’s a farmhouse on Burnley’s training ground😂
So you were shocked then...
Also a stately home... Gawthorpe Hall. Burnley bought the training facility over 50 years ago. Its a stunning location and the set up is world class.
Looks great tbf, really nice location
Really? It's not like industrial towns such as Burnley known for farms.
They have a quality set up!
What a good bloke. Vincent, I mean. 😉
A great Man City captain & a nice guy!
