Tavil Mridangam Kanjira! Sooper combination. Especially happy for Tavil on stage :) The older one gets playing a classical instrument the younger they look while playing... So evident here from who was enjoying and having more fun.
Yes. We *do* _'see'_ tavil. In all its denatured, canned and frozen form. That was a mrudhangam played on Tavil. Muted. Caged and make-up applied and pulled in front of mic. Its like applying make-up to a Tiger to appear like a Sheep & getting him to 'baaing' .. Sure, it takes skill to get a tiger play a sheep. It is then a display of neither the Tiger nor the Sheep, but that of the ring master. A full steam Tavil play will have had the same auditory levels, with the Tavil played outside that theatre while the other two instruments played inside, if you get what i mean.

How to play Tabla in Mrudhangam; Mrudhangam in Tavil & Tavil in Kanjira. All acclaimed experts. Men of authority in their respective instruments. But aren't they missing the individual characteristics of these great instruments. These great instruments impose their own distinctive style and genre. you miss bringing the essence of it, you are a pity. No offence to the artists. Great video recording and superb sound recording. (Darbar and what more can you expect?) But its a great medley of *'How to Muddle Up'* in rich environment. Of color and visuals, fine AV recording. Good but surrealistic ... Its becoming a toxic trend. Another nice example in this elite group is Rajesh Vaidhya. He plays great electric guitar on Veena. When he gets ecstatic, you could watch him play percussion also. On Veena, a string instrument. Somehow he is not seen on Darbar Vids yet. I may be wrong too.

How to play Tabla in Mrudhangam; Mrudhangam in Tavil & Tavil in Kanjira.
All acclaimed experts. Men of authority in their respective instruments.
But aren't they missing the individual characteristics of these great instruments. These great instruments impose their own distinctive style and genre.
you miss bringing the essence of it, you are a pity.
No offence to the artists. Great video recording and superb sound recording. (Darbar and what more can you expect?)
But its a great medley of *'How to Muddle Up'* in rich environment. Of color and visuals, fine AV recording.
Good but surrealistic ... Its becoming a toxic trend. Another nice example in this elite group is Rajesh Vaidhya.
He plays great electric guitar on Veena. When he gets ecstatic, you could watch him play percussion also. On Veena, a string instrument.
Somehow he is not seen on Darbar Vids yet. I may be wrong too.
