Also, Mr. House is also the person who saved the Courier using Victor. Victor dug the Courier and brought them to Mitchell not out of goodwill, but Mr. House's orders. He also saved Vegas from total nuclear destruction similar to Capital Wasteland. He deserves Vegas and whatever he plans to do with it.
He is literaly the one that hired you. And he offers you the most confort you can get. I mean, rulling vegas youself? Really? So much work. Being best pal, protege and most trusted employee of the imortal machine dude who does it? Now thats a good business.
House doesn't plan to tax the NCR heavily, quite the opposite, in fact. House sells purified water at 5 caps per gallon when the standard is 10 caps per bottle (of aprox. 500ml). There's 3785ml in a US gallon, divided by 500ml in a Fallout water bottle is 7.56, meaning that House is selling 7 1/2 times more water at half the price of the wasteland standard. With that price, he easily underbids ever water caravan in the NCR.
Something I noticed about House's obsession with Snowglobes is a neat connection between his goals and the snowglobes themselves. If you look at Vegas, House is rarely ever involved in the goings on. All he does is collect taxes, and sit in his Ivory Tower. (This behavior even nets him the nickname "Not-At-Home" by the Omertas). He's so disconnected that he had no clue about all the plans to overthrow him from the families. This idle observer behavior House has is very indicative of how he wants to run the New Vegas area at large. He wants to advance humanity, yes, but it's a bit like playing a game of civilization. You don't really care about day to day life in your groups, only caring about the bigger picture. Under House, the New Vegas area becomes similar to the same snowglobes he has just lying around. A little diorama in the wasteland, encased in a glass dome.
I think you're looking into it too deeply to be honest. I think it's a nod to the fact that he also lives in a bubble. Similar "ah-ha" moment for me as the Abeline Kid BB gun doing so much critical damage because "you'll shoot someone's eye out" and that the "some reason" Rex hates hats is because he was in the Legion and they wear dog pelt helms.
The first time I played fallout new Vegas, I did it blind. I went independent and quickly learned hubris. Like Icarus I flew too close to the sun and was cursed to an evil end. Second play through I did Mr. House. The philosopher-king. Very charismatic.
People call house evil for not helping Freeside but ignore the fact that the New Vegas strip took 7 years to be in the state its in by the events of the game. Not even a full decade as passed since House took control of the strip. Freeside is the result of House focusing his efforts on the strip proper, not him wanting to see others suffer.
It is also worth noting, that in the post hoover dam cut content, you can see construction taking place to repair freeside. Freeside is how it is because Mr house can't repair it and when he has the resources he immediately gets to work. It's not good business to have a bear trap in your shop's doorway.
With Good Karma Courier, he/she can influence House with many great idea that house can overlooked and helped common wastelanders. Such as sponsoring or employing followers of the apocalypse to become head of education dept and health. Maybe possible massive employement labor jobs and mercenary job overseer by courier.
@@oldomen3788 That just my "what if" playthrough in Mr. House ending. Yes, I play the game. I mean, I kinda obvious that I I mentioned Karmic system in the first place.
I went with the NCR my first play through, and man, killing Mr. House left a very bad taste in my mouth. Hell, killing the BoS doesn’t even come close to the level of regret and guilt I felt after game ending House. Second play-through was a year or two afterward, and I chose to go with Mr. House during a personal phase where I believed debts owed must be paid in full (still do to a great extent). Yeah yeah, Mr. House technically was the one who put us in danger, but the Courier business is a hazardous one to begin with, especially in the Wasteland. Who’s to say that there aren’t plenty of other hazardous “cargo” Couriers carry that would draw the eyes of certain parties? More so, Mr. House didn’t need to dig the player out of that grave; there are plenty of professional mercenaries and contractors who he could have chose from to recover the Platinum Chip, and yet he put a vested interest in seeing that the player was the one who did it. All in all, when I learned that Mr. House was planning to get humanity back on its feet on a quick time scale, I was completely sold to his cause. Autocrat he may be, but he’s the best chance the species has at this point, and so I’m putting my bets, and blood, behind his cause.

The legion can't exist without Caesar but it can without Edward Sallow. Lanius would be a good Caesar, he's a very competent individual.
