I was thinking the same. I know he could have paniced, but as he had the gun, and probably still loaded, did it cross his mind to shoot himself as well, or was he genuinely in shock until he could think of what to do and turn himself in. He did leeve it a long time really, and not act instantly as I would if it was an accident.
@@ianallen2 no dude. This guy probably either had a crush or something on this girl. He's a creep. He shot her and didn't know what to do so know he's lying calling it an accident. The day was spent getting his story straight.
I think your wording "reasonable thinking person", is key here. Even if it was an accident, if a person doesn't attempt to do what's reasonable when there is an expectation or high likelihood of death, due to an injury, it's automatically manslaughter of some degree. I see in the description they charged him with murder. He wasn't very smart talking about how they were not getting along, exactly why you need a lawyer and say nothing. You can tell the lawyer where the body is, and the name, and they will let the cops know.
I can imagine a panic attack at the sight of the blood and having the panic worsen as you realize what you have done causing the shooter to not be able to move or pass out. But hours pass and he was driving around so clearly could function; that’s too much to believe.
Well most people are not very reasonable so from that perspective it could be believable. However there are other things that do raise red flags such as how he couldn’t stand to be around her and his undisturbed demeanor.
I mean alot of people go thru mental problems and their way to cope is different.. for sure it could all easily be a lie or just a big coincidence of his friend getting shot then his friend not wanting the the ambulance called cause she probably thought she was ok until it was to late and she died and the guy panicked and didn’t know what to do.. but the sketchy part isnt that he waited its that he went to the cop instead of just calling them.. i think thats is unreasonable thinking and the biggest clue on why its probably all a lie
It's also a part of the investigation process to build rapport to make him not feel too guilty about what he's done. The less shame he feels about it the more he'll divulge and cooperate with the officers'.
They have a job where people lie to them EVERY SINGLE DAY. They just hear words at this point and respond accordingly based on their experiences and training.
Police literally respond to calls of druggies putting their baby in the microwave cus it won’t stop crying. They see people who have been dead for so long their body is a big puddle and leaking thru the floor and their pets eating their bodies.
@@UlyssesM Well yeah, its pretty emotionally involved thing to take away the life of another person and pretty disturbing that someone would lack any emotion entirely just a day after committing this act.
Only he knows if it was an accident or not. Running away made him look guilty, some people don't think rationally when unders great stress. Just a word of advice, if you’re ever going to turn yourself in, maybe stop by a lawyers office and ask them to help you do it. Every single word you say to a cop, no matter how inconsequential, no matter how small or “helpful” you’re trying to be, can be used to put you in prison for the rest of your life. A lawyer will certainly help you turn yourself in, but they’ll make sure you don’t screw yourself in the process

I can't imagine being an officer and having to deal with the things they have to see. I think small children being in bad situations would be the worst part of it......not being able to deal with the problem adult in the "correct" way.....that and seeing accidents.... My prayers and admiration go out to all the good officers out there doing a job that 99% of couldn't do.
99% is hyperbolic but I get it. But it's hard to feel like that towards cops when they always get caught making their jobs harder by not knowing laws and constitutional rights resulting in us paying for their lawsuits.
It's always the kids that mess with them the most...I have alot of family in law enforcement, EMTs, military, they all say the child deaths stay with them. That's why its so important for that line of work to have emphasis on therapy, it's a must.
He failed her twice, people can make excuses all they want. I have no idea how you let your friend bleed out from your mistake and you just run away, sad story all round but he deserves to be punished
It's absolutely horrible. Obviously he doesn't know gun safety as much as he thinks he does and shouldn't be "showing" guns to anyone. If he doesn't have a criminal history, I might be able to understand, but I have a feeling that this isn't his first offense due to the extreme stupidity of pointing a gun in the direction of a human being! That's the number one thing you're told not to do... Even if it's not loaded.
My first thought is that alcohol was likely involved. Just as no one should ever drive a car intoxicated, they should never use a gun intoxicated. It obviously doesn't make it ok, but I could see someone who was intoxicated spending several hours convincing themselves they are hallucinating and that such a horrible thing couldn't possibly be true. Of course, that's only assuming he's telling us the truth, which is a HUGE assumption.
And yes, I know he says he doesn't drink, but the speed with which he brought that up did make me wonder if he can't face the fact that he drinks, so his lie about drinking is a way to shield himself from the truth. Sure, it's a pretty wild theory that easily could be wrong, but it's just what my gut seems to think happened. The lie wouldn't be comforting if it didn't have some truth. In general maybe he doesn't drink much, but at the moment this happened I personally strongly suspect some substance, perhaps even something other than alcohol, was involved.
ok lets see if your head is so clearly when one moment your just showing off a gun and the next someone is dying in front of u and you could go to jail like jesus crist yknow panic is a thing that exists

I learned a long time ago, if something was truly an accident, "the longer you wait the more the mistake". My dad made a lot of bad choices as a young man and promised himself after I was born that he'd pass down every lesson he'd learned so that I could have an easier time navigating my way through life avoiding the same pitfalls he'd both suffered through and overcome. He never graduated and made sure I did. He's got a record and made sure I never did. Due to that record he's always had to settle for work that he knows he's more capable of yet made sure I knew I could aim high and achieve and thus far I have by building on skills I've retained and refined since beginning at an entry level position. I wouldn't have been able to climb the ladder without his foresight and support. He's proud of me which for me, making him proud is a gift unto itself. As long as you're honest, people tend to give you the benefit of the doubt. However, once they sense they haven't been given the whole truth or have been taken for a fool, you've already lost the war even before beginning the battle.
I used to work with a woman whose husband shot her and waited 8 hours for her to die "accidentally." He was heavily intoxicated and operating the boat when his girlfriend fell into the water and was hit by the propeller. Instead of calling 911, he went home and got cleaned up. 2 hours later, he returned to the scene and admitted what happened to first responders. He was trying to hide the fact that he was intoxicated and was concerned about his family finding out. During the sentencing, I had to listen to the victim's 17-year-old daughter explain how she was raising her 7-year-old sister alone and how she could not answer where mommy was because her sister was 4 when it happened. I've heard and seen a lot, but that was difficult. This guy was more interested in protecting himself and asking the judge for a lenient sentence that doing what was right. 2 families were ruined that day, and I have to say I did not feel bad taking him into custody. His sentence was far from just.
Why didn’t they just take him to location of shooting so he can direct them easy. I don’t believe he doesn’t know the address since she is his friend. And I also don’t understand why he didn’t call cops.

@@brandogeberbin7563Your reply is pointless and adds nothing. OP is right. Neglecting proper treatment and handling of a firearm has resulted in thousands of deaths.
Anyone "accidentally" shot their friend would be freaking out and calling 911. He could get in trouble for the "accidental" shooting, but now it looks a lot like first-degree murder!
If this man is telling the truth and it was an accident he totally screwed himself by not dialing 911 right away.
He's absolutely lying.
He's obviously lying. Otherwise he wouldn't have shot her in the chest & not called 911 or attempted CPR & other first aid.
Thank God You are not a Detective 😂😂. So obvious He is LIEING.
No reasonable thinking person would delay getting help for a friend they accidentally shoot. His story is just not believable.
He said she died instantly tho. Either way lying or truthful, he's not leaving those walls alive
When he starts talking about how much of a nightmare she was to be around in the interrogation room that’s a clear this was no mistake
Even when you actively try to lie your way out of something like this, the conscience still finds a way to admit guilt.

@@jimjones308 If you wanted to deliberately kill someone usually you would take more than 1 shot, that's what the defence will probably argue. My first thought is that alcohol was likely involved. Just as no one should ever drive a car intoxicated, they should never use a gun intoxicated.

Well even if it truly is an accident, he more than likely wasn't allowed to even possess a fire arm. Then the mishandling and then the manslaughter.
