Holy shoot.. i'm a big top gun fan i never seen this! Thanks for upload.. i love the casual humour of edwards and robbins and how focus tom cruise was.
My god, what an amazing video! It's like a time capsule of 1985... 33 years ago, but watching this, takes you back to that amazing time. Thank you for posting
Thanks so much for uploading this! Loved watching it and seeing this bunch of legends! The interviewer was very good, and the cast interviewed were great in the interview too. This is how all interviews should be ❤❤
Thanks for uploading this. I love seeing stuff like this as a Top Gun fan. That look Tim Robbins had with the hair and sweater is too funny. So 80's how Anthony Edwards is smoking out in the open, and his attitude shows why and how he got that role.
I LOVE THE TITLES! So under stated and 80s. How would he know that this would become one of the biggest films of the decade and I think it's one of the American Film Institutes (AFI 100) best 100 Films of all time. So down to earth, real and honest. Refreshing change from today. Thank You Rick Ross for digging this up and posting!
I love him in the movie. He is so darn tall they had to adjust the way it was filmed because of his scenes. The only one where you see how tall he was is at the end on the deck when they all get back to the Enterprise
I haven't seen the extras from the 25th anniversary edition for a while. But i thought that this may have been on that. I guess not. Very nice footage . It's cool how it's been preserved so well!
Rick... I had no idea that you had this footage. It's November, 2018. And I'm just seeing this now? I was on the hangar deck, during the tossing of the dog tags scene. Can't believe you were actually behind one of the cameras. And what happened to the curtains? They used to have Big E logos on them. Wow. That was a long time ago.
Merlin is a magician because he appears in the beginning and the end of the film. LOL, Tim Robbins just keepin it honest that his character doesn’t mean shit to the movie
Rick Ross - osovich? Was this posted by Slider?? Did Anthony Edwards believe this was going to make him a huge star?? This is a awesome find, it should be remastered and inserted into the 35th Anniversary Blu-Ray release as bonus material.
watch his interview for Risky business, even before and he was the same way. Almost scary...no wonder he has achieved so much in his field. An inspiration really
Best practice for checking is to tab with back of hand instead of palm so the muscles don't contract around the pitot tube. Of course you know that from learning the hard way!!! :)
I understand that the actors who played main characters were not their first choices! From what I read the part of Maverick was written for Crispen Glover, Goose was supposed to be Gary Busey, Viper was Danny Devito's role, Jester had Christopher Lloyd's name on it, and the role of Charlie was originally going to be a woman. Maybe in the remake!
I can't help think, why wasn't Val Kilmer there?! Did he not have any scenes on the Enterprise during this time when this was taken? I mean I know he was on the ship at the end, I'm just curious.
@@rrossx05 Ahhh makes sense. They don't film in chronological order. Very nice video. My wife is a huge top gun fan. She cannot wait until the new one. Now that it's moved to later this year she wants to go as a bday day. If you get what I mean. Hey, just checking but are you the person interviewing them? Nice job. I can tell you were nervous but you could slide into any Hollywood interview position imo. You actually asked questions people actually wanted. Very cool
We still don't know why Tony Scott jumped! How can you make True Romance and Top Gun, and then say it's all over. I know Hollywood can be depressing having worked there, but wow.
Mental illness and the emotions that go with it are very complex and can't be explained rationally. I have struggled with depression and anxiety, and wouldn't wish either on anyone.
Tom learned his skills just from random actors workshops, how impressive no particular acting school had the honor to be mentioned, they should have made better impressions on him ,pay him money…Scientology was giving free acting classes to aspiring actors ,here he didn’t have all that enthusiasm they reached him to have yet .

Great interviews. Anthony Edward's as Goose was my favorite character in the movie and really looks the part of a navy pilot. Thanks for uploading.
My god, what an amazing video! It's like a time capsule of 1985... 33 years ago, but watching this, takes you back to that amazing time. Thank you for posting
I was 13!!
Much, much better interview and questions than you usually see from the Hollywood types.
5:33 goose is in character here
This is very 80's. And l love it!
Congrats, you discovered dynamite.
Thanks so much for uploading this! Loved watching it and seeing this bunch of legends!
The interviewer was very good, and the cast interviewed were great in the interview too. This is how all interviews should be ❤❤
My father has this footage from an old cruise tape from the USS enterprise!!
Send this to Hollywood to go on the Special Features section of the DVD when Top Gun 2 is released!!
"...probably the best role in the movie," Anthony Edwards on playing "Goose".
I was there at that moment wow!! Great memories
Are you serious? Any behind the scenes stories about life on board while this happened?
Thanks for uploading this. I love seeing stuff like this as a Top Gun fan. That look Tim Robbins had with the hair and sweater is too funny. So 80's how Anthony Edwards is smoking out in the open, and his attitude shows why and how he got that role.
Absolute gem! Would kill for more like this.
Nice piece of History you have here. Thanks for uploading.
This was before Meg Ryan was a household name but at this point she was relatively unknown. Tim Robbins 'Merlin' explanation was hilarious!

@12:46 Good for Tom having the presence of mind to say "thank you".
That was my exact thoughts he thanked the guys on the 🚢 Awsome much respect
I could just imagine this playing out at sea. When I served aboard the enterprise we had some crazy ass moral videos😂😂😂
That’s where we showed it. I made a copy and thought I’d share it all these years later.
@@rrossx05fantastic video
for those who don't know, music by Paul Hardcastle - song- Rainforest. epic 80s fighter jet music
I like the way tom looked so natural and comfortable here
Thank you for this! It's so appreciated!
Definitely cool and underrated. What a nice discovery to find this rare Navy footage!
Goose looks like the real Combat pilot , the hair, the mustache
This is gold! Thanks for sharing. ;-)
Such a shame that Tony Scott decided to take his own life. Rest In Peace Sir, you made a masterpiece
He had a cancer
Interviewer: "Who are you in this movie?"
Tim Robbins: "I'm a magician!"

What a find. Thank you for uploding
Very nice track for one of the greatest movies in cinema history
Who ever decided to put that old school break beat in the background must have been a dancer from back in the day. ✊🏽
Electric bugaloo
OMG Anthony Edwards is exactly like Goose in character!
Man I love that movie top gun
BIG TIME AND THANK YOU FOR SHOWING THAT!
You're welcome!
Complete with 80's porno music.
LOL!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I shit you not
Damn. Nail hit on the head.
Featuring Mr. John Holmes.
i wish they interviewed val kilmer in this video he's my favorite character from top gun.
He had already left the ship.
Didn’t Rick Rossovich get into trouble for getting into some officers bunk cos he saw a nuclear symbol near the one he had been originally given?
@@Zone5Aviation I heard he was kicked off the carrier. Some man online said one of the captains wanted to chuck Edwards off for being an 'asshole'.
Ice cold
Oh hell yeah! Paul Hardcastle! Great opening song.
Such rare and great footage!
Cruise is still in character in the interview

"Probably one of the most popular films on the ship," - "Revenge of the Nerds".
@8:38 Yeah I second that.....Ironic his role is so important in the sequel but he is killed off in the first
Never seen this, this is way too cool
Nice ending music... Paul Hardcastle baby
Opening music: Paul Hardcastle - Rain Forest
Didn’t he do “19”?
Funny enough I was listening to this song the other day 💥🔫
YOU ARE DOING GOD’S WORK!!!
Where did you get the interview? My husband was a extra in the movie
Thanks for upload this!!!
This guy’s actually a pretty good interviewer. 👍
My buddy Alfred Sweet.
That admiral who was probably super busy got out of that video as fast as he got in it.
Lmaoo so funny about Merlin, and his limited role
Best film ever👍👍
That was awesome! God I have such a crush on Tom!
To me he looks better older ❤
Sick beats.
Merlin is a magician because he appears in the beginning and the end of the film. LOL, Tim Robbins just keepin it honest that his character doesn’t mean shit to the movie
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
And he disappears in between lol
Just in case anybody is interested, I found out Goose's name: Nick "Goose" Bradshaw
Sweet background music
I agree. It’s called “King Tut” by Paul Hardcastle. He also did “19”.
Correction: It's called Rainforest. But you would like King Tut as well.
I'd like to know the back story on the interviewer's mustache
Tom Cruiseeeee my baby ❤️
Paul Hardcastle's "Rain Forest", the ultimate 1980s b-boy tune.
The interviewer reminds me a little bit of Mike Judge
what is the name of the song playing in the background?
Tom Cruise ✈️🤩😍
"I had an erection" lol
That made me holler too.
I have never seen a guy rock the reverse hitler stash
lol!!!!
This was funny as hell man how did it feel after getting on board a carrier I had a erection XD hahahahahhahahah

A Chaps he already was and a great guy too!
no wonder they say that he is like a machine, cold and professional to a fault. Look at him, even at this age he is politically correct etc
watch his interview for Risky business, even before and he was the same way. Almost scary...no wonder he has achieved so much in his field. An inspiration really
The first time you grab a pitot tube as a ladder handle that was left on I promise you won't do it again.

use to put some spit on the finger tip and tap it.
Loved it
Man does this ever start off as a 1980's porno!
They look much Younger than in the movie 🤔
back when Tom was a regular working actor....
He was already a pretty big star at this point, so much so that the filmmakers developed Maverick with him in mind.
Top gun is my favorite film
My late husband who served in Vietnam was in this movie God rest his soul 14 years ago agent orange took his life
I’m very sorry to hear that. So many have suffered for this great country. Thank you for his service.
Amazing footage but clean it up bro……if they can convert old grainy black and white sped up film from 1920s to look 4K……you can too👊🏼🕺🏻
You can’t fix video. If you can, I have no idea how to do it?
I understand that the actors who played main characters were not their first choices! Filmed on the aircraft carrier, how cool
1:20 the simpler fact that's a guy sprucing up cruises appearance weirds me out
I don't really see what's the problem.. isn't he just doing his job?
My second disappointment of 2020 was the delay of TG: Maverick. Cannot wait to see it this May (damn you, COVID, if you delay it again!).
They’re drinking Coke, and there’s a lot of Pepsi product placement in the movie
Ha, I never even noticed that. Great perception!
