This video confirms what I’ve felt myself: the decks I trophy with are the ones where I’m building 2-3 decks until late pack 2 or even three, you get very rewarded for staying open in this format, at least in my experience
Best decks are RG oil and mostly white decks supported by Red, Black or Green. The artifact deck is also really good but the odds of you being in the seat to draft it is super low because you actually need like 16+ artifacts for it to function at all.
@@calighis I had a lot of fun in Brothers War. It was the first set I collected the entire 4x. I didn't "figure it out" but won enough to keep playing.
@@Cincinnatijames sealed is quite different than draft, plus its a free phantom sealed so absolutely everyone (including very poorly skilled players) gave it a go.
While i tend to like you staying open, i have noted that a lot of the packs have a bit of a strange distribution of colors (more so than other sets i've seen in the past). From what i noted, i've seen a lot of packs which are VERY heavy in one color. This obviously makes it more likely that cards from said color will wheel, even though in reality those colors aren't actually open (just that 'the best' cards were already taken from the pack).
I got my trophy on my first sealed event on launch, had a nutso red white agro deck and most games didn't last 5 turns, within an hour and a half of downloading the update I had 7-0 and haven't come close since
congrats! i've been forcing RW or RG and consistently doing extremely well. Just last night I p1p1 took a Vulshok Splitter (only red card in the pack) over the blue dominus and easily cruised to 7 wins. Just playing 1/2/3 drops is the way to go. Hexgold slash doing a really good Swords to Plowshare impression. I even had the green dominus and the rex in that deck but never drew either of them... not that 7 drops aren't playable, i also did a draft with 2 white suns twilights so it can work
x/1s are a huge liability in the format since so much of the removal kills them and they dont block mites profitably. HB is also fantastic in any board stall situation
@@cristiansaavedra8737 I played against someone who had 3 on the field. I had to use both Planar Disruptions so that I could survive a few more turns. I eventually lost. Best way to beat them is to out aggro the UW aggro decks or have a lot of removal.
I think nummy was on the play every game that draft. Also I'm realizing he didn't just go for some synergy like toxic or equipment. He just played good cards. Synergies are often a trap in this format just like capenna. You want to play best cards with early curve and not focus synergies
RG or RW agro smash is the way to go. the +3/+1 combat trick is also totally busted as it always draws you a card (compared to any of the other combat tricks - even the white one isnt consistent)
It's funny, I went 7/0 last week and it was with a ovika first pick xd, I took it tho and drew it every game lol. I also had 6 1/4 flying oil birds lol. Plus my elo at the time was bronze or silver lel.
HB has been maindeckable from the very start, its a good card in the format with so many x/1s running around (and why you shouldn't play x/1s yourself). all the removal kills 1 toughness creatures and they don't block mites profitably. unfortunately this means toxic strategies are much weaker since they have the bulk of the x/1s
Glad you finally got one. I went 1-3 and 2-3 with my two drafts and I'm good to sit this one out.
That move at 20:16 is why you are a good spell slinger and I am average, at-best.

Thats a good tip
True in every format
@@neptuun9425 true, just felt especially so in ONE, but maybe I’m just now learning how to draft 😂
@@neptuun9425 Not the case with Ixalan. More often then not you needed to find the open tribe in the first 4 picks and hold on for dear life
You can feel the 🧂 level decreasing with every win.
This deck was a buzz saw. Look forward to the 17-lands discussion!
GG’s nummy, very sweet games. I did really well during my pre-release playing a Boros aggro deck. Hazardous blast was an all star for me.
Drafted a similar deck a couple of days ago and went 7-1.
Hazardous blast was the absolute star of the deck
Is pink the best color in this set?
17lands (taken with a grain of salt) lists Gruul and Boros as the two highest win rates in Premier draft at around 58% WR each.
No orange is
My only 7 win draft was boros
RW and RG are by far the best. probably because Hexgold slash is functionally a swords to plowshares killing all the way up to 5 drops
Best decks are RG oil and mostly white decks supported by Red, Black or Green.

I haven't even tried a draft so far this season, seem way too difficult. I loved Brothers War draft.
don't draft anything above a 4 drop and you'll be fine. also don't draft blue under any circumstance and avoid black if possible
@@fpejanovic I stomped in this weeks sealed midweek magic. Every card I used was toxic, proliferate or removal.

Finally a draft u win the die roll more often than not, well done
gotta beat the double Glissa deck to get to 7 wins??
make sure they discuss that in your 17 Land roundtable
kinda feel selesnya was even better deck, but cant really go up much from 7-0 :D
I think hazardous blast is a must-have in any red deck. Won like 5 of my games solely from that card in my last draft.

Eye of Malcator is very good for UW Artifact aggro.
I played against someone with 4 of them (at least). I managed to get 3 of them out but it was too much aggresion

Should of went 7-0 with that Izzett winning or izzett losing deck that was such a good deck

Hazardrous blast has been a major overperformer in this format for me. Really backbreaking in most matches
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Top Mythic?
what a mess of a draft for a 7-0 lol
Edit: Can't wait for everyone to be maindecking a hazardous blast now and lose games to "massive outplays"
It’s a pretty decent card in this format, if the game isn’t over in the first five turns the board states tend to stall out. Also heavy x/1 format.

@@fpejanovic didn't say it wasn't, just now more people will be doing it since people watch Kenji's videos
👍
daddy went 1st every game....whatafkingjoke
it does help a ton... but just having a low curve to punish opponents tripping (even when on the draw) can mitigate some of the drawback
worst limited set in the history of the game
Man why does the arena match making suck so much idk why your playing people in gold this mmr ranking stuff is dumb 😂 this deck is nasty tho 😮💨
