Fat-free or Greek yogurt cream cheese instead of mayo. It reduces calories and increases protein. Also carrots instead of chips. Crunchy texture to contrast against the soft dip without the calories.

only problem i see is that fat is actually not the enemy of weight loss. It is all the excess carbs. We need fat in order to make our joints work properly, so a low fat diet results in injuries.

I've been migrating toward yogurt in place of mayo for some applications and it's been great. The Fage 0% is basically pure protein and still adds that creamy/tangy thing that some recipes need. Absolute game changer when you're watching your calories a bit.

I used to swap plain Greek yogurt in place of some (if there will be leftovers - for probiotic preservation and texture reasons) or all (if the whole dish is going to get scarfed up) of the cream cheese in my buff chick dip. I'm surprised this wasn't in this video. Ranch spice seasoning is also a great swap for full ranch. And neither swap sacrifices on flavor

this is a category that will always need people passionate and skilled enough to continue creating recipes and content for . Many people are making videos for healthy and low calorie food but often times don't succeed in making it very tasty or satisfying because when you start making every single item "no fat" or "low fat" you are sacrificing tons of flavour - mouth feel and over all experience and quality in a meal . People are desperate for healthy sauces , healthy mayo or mayo replacements , healthy treats , low calorie versions of the bangers they love or ways to eat really good food but simply low calorie .
I think its smart that you made this video and actually I would say you should take this on as a personal challenge to make a series and see what you can master and do better to make actual good food that is simple , easy and taste good at a low calorie count .

I was intrigued, so i made this. It's exactly as Sonny and Marcus describe - it tastes like buffalo chicken dip, mostly. It'll definitely scratch the itch if you want a decadent food without the enormous number of calories... But it's not the real thing.
My one critique - cut the amount of celery in half or completely omit. There's a lot of water in the celery and as it has nowhere to go, it ends up watering the dip.
All that said, I'd make this again and I'm hoping to see more low-calorie versions of high-calorie foods. Thanks, Sonny!

One thing i like about this recipe is it isnt 1 to 1 swaps with the fat free versions of ingredients but instead looking at what qualities they impart to the dish and picking substitutions that fit those goals. Mayo and cream cheese provided tanginess and creaminess, yogurt and cottage cheese bring that too without relying on stabilizers and emulsions that could break during cooking. Same goes of Mozz which is naturally a fairly healthy cheese. Swiss is also up there if you're feeling frisky.

I'd probably use full fat yogurt and cottage cheese, and possibly sub out the mozzarella for blue cheese to match the flavor profile since I don't need to keep the fat as low. I will definitely try it though.

living in Indiana ive never once heard of mayo in buffalo dip. its usually cream-cheese ranch or blue-cheese franks and chicken.
instead of ranch dressing you can replace it with ranch powder and yogurt, and while ive never used cottage cheese in place of cream cheese as long as the texture is the same-ish i guess that would work. ill have to try it my self

I'd be interested in seeing some lower calorie pan / meat sauces. I end up making a lot of protein in a pan, especially white fish, and having some sauces that aren't mostly wine/butter/cream. For example, there is this Latvian style sauce that is basically thinly sliced cucumber, sour cream, tons of dill, with salt and pepper to taste that makes a great "sauce" for fish.

Just throw the chicken into your kitchenaid mixer and turn it on and it will shred the chicken. Nice bonus benefit, it can shred it while it is still hot.

THANK YOU for some healthier recipes. I hope to see more. I just can't hang with recipes that depend on copious amounts of butter or oil to taste good.

I would love a series like this because I follow fitness influencers that cook but they don’t really know how to cook and most of their recipes are bland. I know you will make it actually taste good!

When it comes to sour cream or mayo, find ways to switch it with a recipe with plain yogurt. Don’t sleep on the plain yogurt, makes some great, and more importantly, healthy dishes.

I'm definitely going to try this and see if there's a way I can make it into a Nashville hot chicken flavor instead of a Buffalo chicken flavor. I prefer that hot oily pickley flavor over that just hot flavor
