@@wagnus1923 I know.... it almost physically hurts. Honestly, if i were him i'd just look up the name on youtube for 10 seconds and learn the pronunciation...
As someone who works in the animation industry, you need to understand people : the shows and movies you're watching right now on Netflix are usually made and fully finished 1-2 years prior, sometimes even more and Netflix just sits on them for some reason. And yeah, we work on the next thing way ahead.
I've dipped my toes a little bit into Netflix world (I wrote the short story behind "Kill Team Kill" in the third season of "Love, Death, and Robots"), and it blew me away how much time and resources went into that single episode. I sold the rights back in like 2017, helped with the script a little bit over the next year, got to see a sneak preview of the finished product about two years later, and then it didn't drop until S3 in 2022.
I’ve also heard that the “seasons” are actually just bits of an actual season they split into parts. Which would explain why they seem to make them so quickly.
I’d be okay with Cavill playing Dalinar. He’s probably a little younger than most would picture for the role, but if it’s a series it allows for him to age into the role. If there’s anyone in Hollywood that could faithfully adapt the novel version of Frankenstein, it’s Del Toro. He doesn’t look at the creature as a monster but as a character that has suffered a tremendous tragedy
He wouldn’t be able to play him since Sanderson does NOT want a white actor in any of the main alethi roles. Kaladin and Dalinar are the same ethnicity
Honestly, I'd much prefer the HTTYD film adapt the book story more closely rather than the film version, from my understanding they're very different and I've seen the animated one already. It's very good. I really dislike studios remaking animated projects as live action.
It also subtlety reinforces the “live action is better than animation” mindset. I know that they don’t intend to say that, but it does feel like that. (I think one of the actors for Netflix Avatar said their’s was for “families and not children.”) That… and the fact that I just don’t care, is kind of why I don’t watch these.
The books are completely different. The names are the same and literally nothing else. Toothless is the size of a house cat (most are more large dog size), has no teeth, and is a huge diva. All the dragons speak a common language which Hiccup learned but no one else has
Loved Arcane S1 & while I enjoyed S2, it felt very rushed. Reminded me a little of GOT whereby the smalller, personal moments between the characters were lost, so that there could be more time spent on spectacle.
Definitely, season 1 was a characters driven plot, where everyone has their own motivations and goals. Season 2 felt more like the characters where plot driven, where the writters had an end in mind and needed the characters to be there. I was quite disapointed with season 2 despite it being just as visually stunning as season 1 was.
Beautifully designed and animated, but a lot of the characters felt like they had their personalities rewritten in important ways to serve the plot. What's really sad about it is all the little things that could have been done to make that not the case but still lead us to the plot points we wanted-those opportunities just weren't taken. I don't know if S2 was *bad*, but it was a big let down in comparison to its first season, with only a few noteworthy elements that kept me on the ride.
@@Cavouku There are missed opportunities, it felt like some huge characters moments were glossed over in the form of music videos or skipped entirely. We got new characters this season that felt one dimensional at best and I don't think they should have been included. Giving the story more room to breathe in the form of a third season would alleviate a few problems, but I can't help but feel that some of the dialogue was clunkier than season 1.
I disagree with it being rushed. It was certainly fast paced, like season 1, but not rushed. Every character action was given enough context to make perfect sense and hit hard emotionally. I would’ve loved more character interactions, but nothing that was necessary for the plot or the characters was missing.
The final act of Season 2 reminded of the “beginning: fight rats. End: fight GOD” joke I’ve heard about JRPGs. Neat seeing that in another medium though.
I love Arcane and all, but I wouldn't mind having a little time to breathe before we get a gazillion new successor/spin-off show announcements. We barely have time these days to digest a thing before marketing people are trying to shove more down our throats. I'm not even necessarily saying that I don't want a spin-off or whatever, but damn, give me a minute.
How can the reviews for Arcane Season 2 be mostly positive?! It was the worst written series finale I have ever watched, and I mean that seriously, with some of the worst plotting, relationships, and some truly terrible, out of character and on the nose dialogue too.
I still don't know what to think about the How To Train Your Dragon Live action adaptation. We are all used to it thanks to DIsney but this one worries me the most because it's NOT coming from Disney. Should we expect a Shrek or a Kung Fu Panda Live action too? I've lost the energy to rant, I'm just... sad...
3:34 one of my major griped with season 2 is the time spent setting up new potential shows, rather than letting plot beats sit and character arcs conclude without being rushed. I heard so many people biting back at criticism of S2 with "you don't get it because its in the lore" or "you weren't paying attention, Arcane doesn't hold your hand," and that's just excuses for poorer writing. It feels rushed because plot elements and new characters are introduced that are half-baked or not fully explored. Thst screen time could have been better served focusing on existing characters, instead of whatever the Black Rose was.
How to Train Your Dragon is like a top 5 movie for me. I’m very conflicted about this movie. On one hand what’s the point of making it if it’s going to be a scene for scene reproduction of the movie I love, but on the other hand don’t fuck with it too much or imma be pissed haha

They could make League of Legends short animated episodes in an anthology, focusing on the champions. Imagine a wholesome episode with Teemo, and a horror episode with Fiddlesticks.
Hmmm I'm not sure how I feel about captives war getting an adaptation. I really wanted to like that book more than I did. So I guess we'll see how it plays out.
In the name Ionia the first "I" is pronounced like "I" the pronoun and the end sounds more like a "ja". In Demacia the "ma" is like your calling for your mother with a short "ma" - sorry no idea how to write phonetics
Cavill could do an AMAZING Amaram or Sadeas! Hell, it could go down exactly like it did for Christopher Lee! He lover LotR soooo much that when he met Tolkien in a bar one time, he begged for the chance to play Gandalf if there was ever an adaptation and Tolkein actually approved. He even took on roles in awful b movies so he could have credits acting as a wizard when the time came. While I feel bad for him on a personal level that he didn't get to play Gandalf, I think we can all agree, only he could've gave done Saruman THAT WELL. I feel much the same about Cavill. Imagine him stealing Kaladin's shards and having him branded or smiling mockingly in an attempt to provoke Adolin to violence. Its PERFECT!
Really looking forward to the interview with your agent! I'm sure it's gonna be a super interesting insight into the industry, really appreciate the channel taking this pivot and making it a recurring series!
What I want from a live action HTTYD film? A new adaptation of the original novel, rather than something based on the animated film. (which... Honestly, it's not the fact it's only been about 15 years since the film, or a preference of animation to live action for this sort of thing that bugs me - I feel pretty much the same way about the 1998 Psycho remake, or covers of songs that sound pretty much identical to the original - What's the _point_ of it if you're not putting your own spin on the thing) - Actually, my ideal would have been an adaptation of How To Train Your Viking instead, which was a novel that was presented as being written by Toothless in the same way that the original HTTYD was presented as being a translation of a work by Hiccup, but if they were doing that surely they'd have called it How To Train Your Viking... (Because apparently Literary Agent Hypothesis is still a thing...) As for the Frankenstein still... I don't dislike it, but I did need to double check it was for a film rather than a point and click adventure game when I first saw it. Which definitely made for a disorientating first impression.
Damn bro. Cavill ain’t getting that mainstream fantasy hero role anymore cause of age eh. First Superman was basically taken from him. Then the Witcher pissed him off. And now Kaladin… damn bro.
@DanielGreeneReviews yeah defiantly get that. We probably won't be getting a storm light archive adaptation for a while, so I'm sure plenty of fresh faces will appear in the industry to take on the mantle, when the time comes.
Here's the prononciation for the League of Legends region: Noxus: Pretty self explanatory Ionia: Eye-Onia Demacia: Dem-ah-cia Hope it helps if needed :)
Small correction. The next arcane series will not involve the three kingdoms (noxis, demacia and ionia). They said that they are considering all regions for the next series, but at the moment theyre specifically looking at these three regions to be the next setting (so only one of them, not all three).
Aaaaah I cant wait to for the new Witcher, Im really excited see what its going to be about and wether its a sequel to TLotL or more of a SoS-style prequel.
I just don't want to see the how to train your dragon adaptation. So what I want for them is to make a cool movie so that people who watch this and have not watched the animation are satisfied, and I want this movie to be something that the people worked on can be proud of becaused they managed to transport emotions, ideas, themes etc. from the story to the screen and not because they got this and that shot similar to the animation.
Arcane pulled a witcher. Good first season. Bad andcryshed secind season...and im guessing some really bad tie in shows in future...and by that time no one will care
Agents are such a mysterious part of the traditional publishing industry to me. Just some ppl who's job it is to know the other people for you. Honestly, they're doing something id rather not deal with but you so rarely hear from them or how their part of the industry works. Getting to talk with some of them on the regular sounds like such a great idea!
Personally i though the how to train your dragon movies only got worse and worse, so it's interesting to hear the opposite from you Daniel. I came to them late and liked the first one a lot, but the second two really just devolved into a sequence of captures and escapes and fights, that especially in the third one were entirely avoidable. Even with my liking of the first one though, the remake strikes me as a waste. In disney's live action remakes, for better or worse, they commit much harder to more realistic aesthetics, and are adapting 2d animation to live action. The difference is much starker. Seeing the exaggerated viking helmets of the animation in live action just seems wrong to me, and the fact they ripped animated toothless 1 for 1 is insane. That dragon was designed for an animation, by animators. It doesn't move or look like a real animal, because it wasn't supposed to. If they're going to remake the movie, they should at least take a fresh look at his design and movement. It's striking me more as a rerelease than a remake right now.
i wonder when everyone is going to realize that live action adaption of an already mega successful animation is a big waste of time and money? oh wait its a big money grab from gullible fans
i don't care about a live action how to train your dragon. they can make whatever they want, i won't watch it. just like i won't watch the adaptation of atla. i'm happy with the original as it is, and i don't want/need an adaptation
I didn’t really think about it too much, but I think it is pretty clear that Elphaba’s cape at the end of the movie is probably cinema‘s best cape we’ve ever seen.
I am still occasionally getting copyright hits on those first two videos. That doesn't mean no, BUT I am going to have to change the format. I am going to experiment with doing a Lost video in a newer format and see if it stops be from getting hits (that I always end up winning after weeks of waiting for a response).
Really great idea with to interview your agent, looking forward. I have already some questions in mind, posting them already before I forget: 1: How polished does a manuscript for a new writer need to be? There is some discourse that it needs to be flawless which I doubt, but I assuming being more polished does help with a first impression. Is there a minimal level of polish required? 2: What is more important in a new manuscript, the writing style or story structure? If a story lacks in either of those two departments, for which would you send it back for revisions and which is just a no. 3: Is there a impact for new writer to already have published short stories in magazines or won writing competitions when querying for an agent? Just curious if an agent would even care. A successful career as a self-published author seems to help. 4: Can an story idea be too weird or out there for it be considered by an publisher, yet some success can be expected as self-published? Mainly asking because again the discourse surrounding it, that publishers want the more standard stories.
Regarding Cavill, it runs into a couple of the same issues as Kaladin, but he'd make a great Amaram. Charming, handsome, popular, and just full of rot. HC could have a hell of a time in that role.
I'm in love with the HTTYD films, and I'm one of those who would prefer not to have the "same version" as the animated film. It's similar to your take on the live-action ATLA show: we already have a ready-to-watch film version of the story with a certain style and humor. Why do that exact thing again? (Naturally, I do think the new HTTYD film will be way better than the live-action ATLA show, but that's beside the point.) I'd rather have a different take on the story, like one that follows the book. I guess I'm tired of seeing the same takes on the same stories. I'd prefer to experience new angles. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That being said, if this film gets more people who never watched the animated version to experience something I've enjoyed for many years, then that's a success in my book.
I want to see a live action adaption of the original How to Train your Dragon books. I want a Toothless that’s the size of a house cat and a massive diva. I want a Fishlegs who turns into a homicidal maniac at the drop of a hat. Even if he does have a limp. And bad eyesight. And a bad back It’ll really confuse everyone when it has nothing in common with the existing movies other than the name, but I see that as an absolute win
HTTYD live action is my cosmic horror. Or just horror. Or maybe I'm exhausted by all the anti-animation bs. Out of everything this feels like the biggest insult to the craft. I'll shove ATLA live action too because it is the most obvious example. If you're not going explore the world then why are you here? HTTYD is a world where you can explore so much of it. Give us the next generation exploring lands where dragons use to live, hell maybe have Hiccups and Astrids kids go off to find where dragons live and have their own adventure.
Depending on how long a Stormlight adaptation takes to put into motion, Henry Cavill could be Dalinar, Amaram, Wit (but he'd have to willing to commit to appear in any cosmere adaptations) or Gavilar (in flashbacks) or if it takes a SUPER long time, Taravangian (which would be hilarious). Otherwise maybe a Herald?

He even took on roles in awful b movies so he could have credits acting as a wizard when the time came. While I feel bad for him on a personal level that he didn't get to play Gandalf, I think we can all agree, only he could've gave done Saruman THAT WELL. I feel much the same about Cavill. Imagine him stealing Kaladin's shards and having him branded or smiling mockingly in an attempt to provoke Adolin to violence. Its PERFECT!
*Jafar Voice* You are Late!
honestly just forgot to schedule the video to drop haha
Blood of the Kami is definitely A1 WOW!
Well, now I want Blood of the Commie.
Agree with villain Cavill 👍
(Because apparently Literary Agent Hypothesis is still a thing...)
As for the Frankenstein still... I don't dislike it, but I did need to double check it was for a film rather than a point and click adventure game when I first saw it. Which definitely made for a disorientating first impression.
The fantasy news must flow
Can Henry Cavill be a Spren in Stormlight? They'll just be CGI.
Viktor's God mode look was just perfect!
Damn bro. Cavill ain’t getting that mainstream fantasy hero role anymore cause of age eh. First Superman was basically taken from him. Then the Witcher pissed him off. And now Kaladin… damn bro.
Henry Cavill would make a PERFECT Amaram
I feel like Dev Patel could play a great kaladin.
I would agree a few years ago but I really want someone who can match Kaladin's age. He has a youthful ambition and stubbornness in my read of him.
@DanielGreeneReviews yeah defiantly get that. We probably won't be getting a storm light archive adaptation for a while, so I'm sure plenty of fresh faces will appear in the industry to take on the mantle, when the time comes.
I think it would be fun if the live action HtTYD was based on the books instead of the movies
Ben Barnes would be great as Amaram.
I'm hungry for more Noxus and more of Ambesa 💥
I keep thinking Cavill would make a good Meridas Amaram.
As a fellow Dyslexic, the 'Noxus' pronunciation had me cackling. Ionia and Demacia too. Love the content tho.
Here's the prononciation for the League of Legends region:
Noxus: Pretty self explanatory
Ionia: Eye-Onia
Demacia: Dem-ah-cia
Hope it helps if needed :)
I really just love daniels pronunciation of names😅
It's more like just pronunciation of words lol. But all the love to my dyslexic brothers
If we ever get Mistborn adapted, Henry Cavill could be Kelsier. Just saying. We can dream of more adaptations beyond Stormlight.
Small correction. The next arcane series will not involve the three kingdoms (noxis, demacia and ionia). They said that they are considering all regions for the next series, but at the moment theyre specifically looking at these three regions to be the next setting (so only one of them, not all three).
14:31 i double dare you to do a Fantasy News without mentioning Brandon Sanderson.
Aaaaah I cant wait to for the new Witcher, Im really excited see what its going to be about and wether its a sequel to TLotL or more of a SoS-style prequel.
Henry Cavill would be great for Zahel
This new iteration of the theme music is so bad I can’t deal 😬😬
Helping a brother out on pronunciation cause we all been there. Noxus: Nah-k-sus. Ionia: Eye-oh-knee-uh. Demacia: Dem-ahh-see-uhh.
If only there was a magic cure for Mental Health and Stress Problems 🙁
Have you heard of from tv show???
Yay, the Fantasy News Flows
I just don't want to see the how to train your dragon adaptation. So what I want for them is to make a cool movie so that people who watch this and have not watched the animation are satisfied, and I want this movie to be something that the people worked on can be proud of becaused they managed to transport emotions, ideas, themes etc. from the story to the screen and not because they got this and that shot similar to the animation.
Witcher🎉
Cavill would be a good Meridas Amaram i want to see what he can do with such a hateable character
Waaaah!!!!
Did you have time to look at the banana taped to a wall?
2:45 lol, you got all the region names wrong, though that's understandable.
Nox-us, Ion-ia, and Dema-cia is how they're pronounced.
i wonder when everyone is going to realize that live action adaption of an already mega successful animation is a big waste of time and money? oh wait its a big money grab from gullible fans
First!
i don't care about a live action how to train your dragon. they can make whatever they want, i won't watch it. just like i won't watch the adaptation of atla. i'm happy with the original as it is, and i don't want/need an adaptation
I didn’t really think about it too much, but I think it is pretty clear that Elphaba’s cape at the end of the movie is probably cinema‘s best cape we’ve ever seen.
Oh will we be getting another Fringe video?
I am still occasionally getting copyright hits on those first two videos. That doesn't mean no, BUT I am going to have to change the format. I am going to experiment with doing a Lost video in a newer format and see if it stops be from getting hits (that I always end up winning after weeks of waiting for a response).
@@DanielGreeneReviews ok. Also please check out a show called From, if you haven't. It's another one that has Lost DNA
Fuck yeah I’m cant wait to pit my brain in a dumpster for the poohinverse movie, genuinely love how dumb and mainstream it got
Really great idea with to interview your agent, looking forward.
I have already some questions in mind, posting them already before I forget:
1: How polished does a manuscript for a new writer need to be?
Henry Cavill ❤️ if I couldn't love him more
Cavill can be the perfect Wax
That being said, if this film gets more people who never watched the animated version to experience something I've enjoyed for many years, then that's a success in my book.
Daniel my guy! you are looking glowing lately! what ever you are doing keep at it!
Why do so many book channels have trouble with pronunciation?
I want to see a live action adaption of the original How to Train your Dragon books. I want a Toothless that’s the size of a house cat and a massive diva. I want a Fishlegs who turns into a homicidal maniac at the drop of a hat. Even if he does have a limp. And bad eyesight. And a bad back
It’ll really confuse everyone when it has nothing in common with the existing movies other than the name, but I see that as an absolute win
Theoretically, if they were to cast Cavill as a villian.... Amaram? The shiny hero exterior hiding a horrible man? Dalinar would be fantastic too
sidestacking... :)
Give Henry a massive beard and make him berserky Dalinar. Just old Grizzled and War-weary Dalinar would fit well on Henry.
Day 57 of asking the Goblin to give Made in Abyss a try.
Can't wait for you to watch Act 3 of Arcane!!!! Hope you're just as emotionally scared as the rest of us!
I’m looking forward to your guys thoughts on arcane! I had maybe one or two things I didn’t like but overall loved it ❤
Daniel doesn't pay attention to his own fiancee and how she pronounces LoL countries confirmed
