  • Most NBA fans think of Kobe Bryant as one of the greatest players to ever step foot on a basketball court. If this is the case, why does he only have 1 MVP award to his name after playing in the league for 20 years? Today we break down every year that Kobe was close to winning MVP, but didn't for whatever reason.

    Kobe winning 65 games in the WEST in 09 is literally ten times more impressive then bron winning 66 games in the East . You talk about voters proving themselves right when Duncan won mvp and beat Kobe in the playoffs. I agree but by that logic Kobe should have CLEARLY been mvp in 07, 08, 09 and 2010.

    @Mike1122. 9 месяцев назад +16

    If you remove Kobe from the Lakers from 2000-2010 they would have zero titles. That’s right, Shaq won zilch with Orlando and was swept in the finals. Kobe in 2001 averaged 28PPG should have been MVP. 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, were all MVP season Kobe should have won. Anyone with eyes could see Kobe was the most lethal player since Michael Jordan who won 5 MVP’s. Kobe played much better competition in the western conference and it’s not even close. The west teams have dominated the NBA finals 16-8 since 2000. Now, let’s address the real reason Kobe was snubbed. The sports writers didn’t like Kobe and some of them actually said it! There is no way biased east coast sportswriters should be controlling the NBA MVP awards. The players and owners should vote for MVP. Former coach Alvin Gentry said it best in 2010 that Kobe has been the best player in the NBA for a long time and it’s wasn’t even close.

    • @donavonhoward114
      @donavonhoward114 4 месяца назад +2

      Exactly. That's why Lebron wins the MVP every other year. It's sports writers, and analysts voting for it, and they all loved finding stupid reasons to say that Kobe wasn't the best player in the NBA for a 13 year span from 2000-2013. 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010 were all potential MVP years, and Kobe should have at least gotten the MVP in 2006, 2009, and 2010. I would argue that he was a potential MVP of 2013 until he got hurt, even over Lebron James during his best season. In fact, in the purest meaning of the phrase MVP, Kobe would have won 10 MVP's in a 13 year span. MJ, and Shaq should have had more MVP's as well, but the MVP award means little to nothing in the grand scheme of things. I would take 5 championships over 5 MVP's any day.

    U hit the nail. If Kobe had a Pau Gasol type of player from 2001 to 2009 he’d win more mvps. People say Nash robbed Kobe but the truth is Shaq, his team, and lastly Lebron are the reasons Kobe only has 1 mvp. Kobe was never gonna get mvp his 2 goated scoring seasons bc the nba wouldn’t give it to a player not in the top 4 seed.
    In my opinion for the first place there is heavy heavy emphasis on winning. It is around 2nd-5th that winning plays less of a role. Had Bron not gotten mvp in 2011 I guarantee the voters would’ve given Kobe the mvp even though he was 3rd and KD was voted 2nd bc they would want the more winning player to actually win it all.
    And ig Westbrook and Jokic are outliers for seeding of the mvp but it was bc of the triple double statistic and Jokic’s competition being really bad due to people like Giannis not playing enough games so they kinda didn’t have anyone who put up mvp numbers and played games outside of Jokic. Like CP3 was the 2nd or 3rd I believe bc the suns were the best team despite putting up only 16 and 8 which arnt even all star numbers just purely numbers speaking.

    • @donavonhoward114
      @donavonhoward114 4 месяца назад +1

      In 2006, the Lakers only won 7 less games than the Suns who had the so-called MVP on their roster. Kobe went to the playoffs and proved that he was the true MVP of the league in 2006. He should have won it in 2003, 2006, 2008, and 2009. Shaq should have also won more than just one MVP. It really didn't matter though. Kobe was too busy winning to care about MVP's. He could have easily won it almost every year of his prime if he really wanted too, but he often sacrificed his own production for the better of his team which is why he only had two scoring titles. He could have won the scoring title every single year for 10 to 12 years straight, but that's not what matters in basketball. I doubt Kobe even cared about the 2008 MVP he won because the Lakers lost in the Finals. I'm sure it felt nice to feel acknowledged by people that criticize and hate such a great player, but that's who Kobe was. His championship rings speak for themselves. Lebron, Steve Nash, KD, Duncan, and CP3 can have their multiple MVP's. It doesn't make them the better or more dominant player historically.

      No, Kobe has the most misses in NBA history, he took 3000 more shots than karl malone and still Karl scored more points than him. He literally averaged 14 points in a finals shaq Carried him. Shaq is the only player in history along with mj to get 3 fmvp in a row Kobe literally got carried by the most dominant player ever. Gifted his first 3 rings and lost many due to his selfishness, for example in 2004 Lakers vs Pistons Kobe attempted 6 more shots than Shaq and still Shaq scored 4 more points than him, Kobe tried so hard to win a fmvp against Shaq and that cost him many rings. If you see the top 25 greatest volume shooters Kobe has the lower fg% and 3pt% Wich makes sense since he is the player with the most misses, he even blew a 3-1 lead, he is just an ineffective ball hog who got carried his first 3 rings, and despite having 2 fmvp, he arguably deserved only one of them. People say his mentality is the greatest but it's not, the greatest mentality doesn't make you lose rings like Kobe did, people say he had the best work ethic but thats not true, if you try so hard to win a fmvp against your teammate and you lose cause of that you know that's not work ethic, that's selfishness ethic.

    Kobe has the most misses in NBA history, he took 3000 more shots than karl malone and still Karl scored more points than him.

      Well you do not know what your talking about first Kobe was selfish because he had trash team especially in the 2005 2006 season another reason is your just bringing up playoff stats and the negative playoff stats at that number 3 is Kobe has an argument that he could have one more than 2 finals mvp h3 could have won the won the finals mvp in that season when the lakers beat the New Jersey nets another reason is Kobe is and will be better than you at basketball so know your role and shut your mouth!

      Le Bron has the most turnovers in NBA history and he’s right behind Kobe for missed shots. Soon Lebron will overtake Kobe then what will you say? In fact Kareem, and Jordan are in the top 10 lost for missed shots. Your argument is rooted in hate for Kobe and his greatness. No matter how you try to elevate Le Bron, he will never be bette than Kobe, he played weak competition in the east and lost 6 finals.

      @@Mike1122. so u wanna talk about lebron, ok. lebron is the biggest stat padder and hero wannabe of all time, he pushes his teammates to grab rebounds and lets the opposite team drive to the basket alone to get his highlight block, if it fails it gives the opposite team 2 free points cause lebron wanted to, all of his points are meaningless, 2022 season he scored the emptiest 30 points of all time, not even reached play in, he stays in the final minutes of every lost game only to score his 30 points, i remember one time in the 4th quarter he scored a three at the buzzer of a blowout lost game only because he has 27 and wanted 30 points, His points are a joke and an insult to the game of basketball you won't see an all time great like doing that. Another thing is he needs 2-3 all stars to win rings, people praise lebron for going to the finals many many times but most of them were because he had the easiest path with the Easter conference, in 2007 he did not have any competition and still he gets too much credit, 2019 missed playoffs 2021 first round exit 2022 not even play in but nobody talks about it, it took another MVP level player to came and win in 2020 but nobody cares, he always needs 2-3 all stars and even with that he doesn't score the most important shots, 2013 ray Allen shot and Chris Bosh rebound saved lebrons legacy 2016 lebron faced injured and suspended players in GSW and still it took kyire to hit the most important three once again lebron watching, he doesn't even have a single shot like the one Jordan scored in 1998, In fact the biggest difference between Jordan and lebron is lebron does whatever it takes to be the hero and Jordan does whatever it takes to win, he doesn't try to be the hero. A great example of that is the 1997 finals, he had the ball to hit the game winner and instead of shooting a contested shot he drew defensive attention and passed the ball to Steve Kerr to hit the game winner leaving him wide open from midrange, he obviously scored due to Jordans assist and they won cause Jordan did the right play instead of trying to be the hero, the game winner of Paxton in 1992 was out of a Jordan play too, Jordan scores the game winner if it's needed and he makes his teammates score game winners if it's needed, lebron doesn't do that. In 2013 when he had the ball to hit the game winner he threw a contested brick against TWO defenders instead of passing, if Bosh didn't grabbed the rebound to pass it to Allen they would have lost 2013 ring due to lebrons ego like they already did in 2011, if he let wade be wade they would have won 2011 easily. In my opinion if Bosh was in 2011 heat and lebron was still in cavaliers the heat would have won 2011 ring, cause all wade needed was another all star caliber player to win, after Shaq declined he couldn't win. So yeah, that's the main reasons why lebron is overrated and not even close to be top 2 all time, am i forgetting more reasons? Maybe. But how many superstars can you name that lost rings cause of their ego? Cause the only one I can think of besides lebron is Kobe. btw, LeBron takes steorids and that gives him a clear advantage, theres many proves of that, one of them being the 2014, when he came back to Cleveland he lost a lot of weight and explosiveness, that season he played way worse and was pretty obvious his atlethism was WAY WORSE the nba was "coincidentally " making drug test during that time frame, then him and his buddy CP3 complained trying to end the testing, two years later he gained 25-30 pounds and was as explosive as before, shame on u LeEgo.
