This is why it's so unnerving
    Witnessing the same old story
This is why the wheels are turning
Gone away and turn again this time
    Listen now the savior's calling
Come again but we won’t be here
Looking back as I walk faster
Think again and change its way this time
Oh, I'll break them all no mercy shown, heaven knows its got to get somewhere
Watching her in a sinking ship
The time she cried, but failed to wake this time
I'll break them all no mercy shown, heaven knows its got to be this time
Avenues all lined with trees, picture me in ten years time watching
    Watching forever
    Watching forever
    Forever, let it be so
    Forever, let it be so
    Let it be so
    Always be so
Line 9: was later sung as: "It’s got to lead somewhere" on the 14th May, 1980 version
Line 12: he also sang "down" instead of "all" at the 1980-05-02 soundcheck

When Ian died, Joy Division became New Order. "Ceremony" would become the most celebrated and memorable song of the old and new band's incarnation.
