To those of us aware of history, yes it is. But, given the events of the last three years, not surprising. This is not a new action from the US. Ask the Kurds about what happened in Iraq. But in this case it is right out of Putin's playbook. He is an example of the finest of KGB training. Never persuade or cajole another to do what you want if you can avoid it. Make a personal connection, increase the bonds, then use their own wants and desires to convince them that this is their idea and that you are impressed with their ability to take control. The blackmail and trickery are for the amatures. This type of control takes true mastery. Russia wants the kurds gone and the US out of the equation in Syria. Mission accomplished. Russia wants the US to loose credibility and persuasion in Europe. Mission accomplished. Russia wants oil to remain the primary source of energy since it makes up the bulk of it's economy. Oil protected. Russia has no fear of anti-tank weapons since it relies heavily on its air power to neutralize ground units. The most amazing thing to me is their ability to use non standard force multipliers. They have a lower GDP than the state of Texas, yep they remain a world power competing against the two largest GDPs in the world.

Trumpty Dumpty shouldn't worry about his pending impeachment, what he should be worried about is a trial at the World Court when the citizens of the planet call for his arrest and conviction for War Crimes committed against the Kurds because of his betrayal of them.
While the American justice system may not be able to indict Trump for his high crimes and misdemeanors while still in office, the World Court has no such rule.
We are now seeing the real reason why the Russians got Trump elected. So that they and other bad actors around the world can move forward with their own agendas without American military interference.
The Russians knew that with Trumpty Dumpty's narcissist tendencies he would be easy to manipulate.

When UN soldiers were ordered to leave, Tutsi refugees begged them to kill them, as Hutu soldiers were waiting for the open field with machetes in their hands. I don't remember where I heard that story - it came around the time of the 10th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide.
I don't know why, this feels similar. Maybe because the doom was foreseen and yet was brought upon by lies and greed. Those prisoner camps should not have been in the first place - out of reach of justice and responsibility, those two great lies that we hold true for ourselves but can drop like dead weight when it really matters. No western power wanted to deal with potential extremist prisoners, and so it befell on the Kurds to become their guards. Parked them like animals, men, women, children.
Now the butchery will spare no one. Guards and prisoners alike, they will be fodder, in the name of a line in the sand. What a fucking mess.

I think he was complicit in it. Only the transcript of his call with Erdogan will truly tell. I think this is the result he was working towards. An opportunity to start a war or at least a military emergency to distract from what is going on here. “You cannot arrest the president we are in the middle of a war!” That did not save Nixon. It won’t save Trump. It will however cause the senseless death of people who had fought beside us and put another mark on the balance sheet for the United States being the largest terrorist organization in the history of the world.

Sad a President made a decision based on pride that will costs lives, Sad that the other countries that have benefited from Kurdish allies didn't step in and fill the void of a dumb decision and protect those allies, Sad that the Kurds saw this coming but hoped against odds that this time would be different, Sad that now Russia will open their arms to the Kurds and say we'll protect you, see the west talks a good game but where are they when it counts? We took Crimea and the west just watched. Regardless of this Trumpian blunder that is gonna cost us all in free democratic countries, Where is the rest of the Alliance? Where's Canada where's Britain, Where's NATO? NATO could stop this with one call to turkey holding membership to NATO,, don't give me the argument Turkey will then side with Russia, who cares, they were a stop Gap in the middle East and have turned from NATO in many cases since Their president took office, Kurds are the better Ally if you wanna argue that point.
