  • Labour MP Nick Thomas-Symonds has branded the government's Rwanda policy "an expensive gimmick".
It comes after Sir Keir Starmer confirmed he wants to "scrap the scheme", which aims to send asylum seekers entering the UK illegally from a safe country, such as France, to Rwanda.

A native pensioner was stabbed to death in London yesterday after bravely fighting for her handbag from a mugger.
I don't need to say the heritage of the attacker but labour are more worried about how he'd feel being sent to Rwanda which isn't all that far from SOMALIA.

I think the point being made is that the whole Rwanda scheme is just an expensive performance. The numbers that will be sent there are ridiculously small and the costs eye watering. Rwanda aren’t going to accept thousands, they have already said so, they must be laughing their arses off at the money they are getting for this.

No serious alternative…..perhaps that’s because there aren’t any?!
However, we could admit, say, 200,000 less legal
immigrants…..I mean sovereign Brexit Britain CAN control that and it wouldn’t cost £1,800,000 x 200,000. It’s a win win!!

And labour's policy of creating a new boarder command is another expensive gimmick which won't work.

Exactly return to sender is the simplest solution.

      Why?

    • @Jase29
      @Jase29 11 дней назад

@danielmontaigne1219 what the creating of a new border force on top of the current one? This force will target people smugglers which all agencies have been doing over the last 20 years. So he has basically announced a nothing approach but will claim it's working in a few years time with the old laws used.
This is labour's approach to everything, set up a new group at the cost to taxpayers.
FYI not a single migrant will be deported as all lawyers who will represent these migrants will win every single court case based on the fact that terror laws and snooping laws are being used to stop Channel migrants.
Labour will just end up giving amnesty to anyone who arrives. 🙄

So the returns agreement will cost Britain more or less what we already pay the French? Because we don’t have any agreement the French are happy the way things are and they will definitely want a lot more money to take migrants back if they agree.

They should never have created the backlog, that’s where the money is being spent. Cheaper to sent a person to the moon,it’s no deterrent as less than 1per cent will be sent!
Could have built 100 schools and their promised 40 hospitals 😂😂!

Israel had a "voluntary departure" scheme for 4,000 migrant deportations with Rwanda between 2014 and 2017. Most were driven straight to the border. Almost all are thought to have left the country almost immediately, with many attempting to return to Europe via people-smuggling routes.
Rwandan homes that were previously earmarked to house migrants deported from the UK have already been sold to local buyers. the developer has said.
Some 70% of the 163 affordable homes on the Bwiza Riverside estate have been sold, the developer ADHI-Rwanda said.
On top of the £220 million Britain has already paid Rwanda, the UK government has agreed to pay an extra £150 million over the next three years, and £120 million pounds once the first 300 asylum seekers have been resettled, the National Audit Office (NAO) said on Friday 1st March 2024.

Over a decade and half ago, the majority of the country voted to leave th EU. The main reasons were mass imigration and EU laws. Now, the EU still superceeds UK law and imigration is the highest it has rver been. Politicians should be in jail, if not at the gallows.
