Hi Hema, this is not how Dal makhani is made in the North. 1. We add whole garam masala, haldi powder and salt to the dals and then cook them. 2. Also use more variety of dala like chana -dal, toor dal in addition to kali udad and rajma. 3. Most importantly, this recipe is made without onions.
