What inspired Darkwing Duck?

Darkwing Duck is based off of several characters. Batman is an easy comparison, but Zorro was already a Disney branded property that gave the character his signature mask. The Shadow can also be referenced if you go back to the days of radio plays. In fact, there are a ton of pop culture and comic book references throughout Darkwing's history on TV.
