@@rroman3891 Cuz it was released in the very end of the era of NES. Sega MD was already available for 4 years, and only 2 years were left before Playstation, NES was just outdated. In some regions like Russia NES started later, so this game was, in contrary, one of the most popular.

Reasons why this game gives Mega Man vibes.
    1. The scrolling screens.

Dat music. DAT MUSIC. Not only did I find myself singing a bit to the intro, but some of these tunes are just GREAT. Really love the music for Bushroot's stage. Also kind of amused at how much those horizontal vines almost look like some kind of Middle Earth script. The biggest downside is no Negaduck. :C The other members of the Five are present and not necessarily with F.O.W.L., it woulda been neat if he coulda been a hidden boss or something.

How cool would be if way forward anc capcom make this a remastered version as well.

    • @Seth62392
      @Seth62392 9 лет назад +3

***** A "Remastered" version of this game seems well in order. The sharp visuals of the original game would translate well to the 2.5D presentation that WayForward and Capcom USA would offer the remake (2D sprites and 3D modeled levels). Just like "DuckTales Remastered" had its backgrounds and layouts created by two of the original TV show's artists, it makes sense that Disney Television Animation would bring in two of the original "Darkwing Duck" artists to create the backgrounds for this game's remake. "Darkwing Duck Remastered" would also reunite all the surviving members of the original show's cast, with only a small few exceptions (e.g. Gosalyn would have to be recast due to Christine Cavanaugh's passing). Also, doubting the existence of an extended version for the original TV show's theme song, I believe one such version would have to be written and performed for the game's end credits sequence.
Seeing as how WayForward would expand the game's use of story content in the remake, here's my idea for how the story of the "Remastered" version of the game would run:
At the game's opening, Darkwing Duck is at S.H.U.S.H. headquarters being contacted by J. Gander Hooter, who tells him that St. Canard has once again fallen victim to another state of emergency. F.O.W.L. has joined forces with the Fearsome Five and several other villains to become the League of Villainous Evildoers Maniacally United for Frightening Investments in Naughtiness (L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N.), and the new alliance is causing a massive crime wave throughout the city. Hooter urges Darkwing to put an end to the criminals' plots and schemes and the chaos they are causing, then sends Launchpad McQuack to assist him. Darkwing initially declines the pilot's request to help, claiming he's perfectly fine working alone, but soon accepts Launchpad when he offers to brief Darkwing with the details of his missions, explaining to him the crimes at hand, their suspects, and their scenes. Before the two leave, Hooter stops Darkwing with a final word: that many diamonds, gold bars, and other valuables have been stolen by the criminals, and that they will not give them up easily. As Darkwing prepares to board the Thunderquack, Gosalyn is waiting outside the headquarters and begging to tag along; eventually, after some annoyance, our hero is left with no choice but to let the young mallard have her way.
Darkwing's first order of business is to stop the monstrous Wolfduck and his subordinates from rampaging through the center of St. Canard. Though he doesn't otherwise act evil, Wolfduck goes berserk and unleashes his villainous side when the full moon rises, and when he does, the good citizens begin to panic. Luckily, when Darkwing heads into the city center, it's still daytime, so he has a fair share of time to tackle Wolfduck's minions in peace. As the player progresses through Wolfduck's level, the sky grows dark and the sun sets, and by the time Darkwing gets to the end of the stage, it's nighttime - the perfect time for him to take on the feral fowl himself. After some scuffling with DW, the Wolf is knocked out. Meanwhile, Professor Moliarty has broken into St. Canard's tallest building, the Pekin Tower, and is developing a monstrous new machine which, if he activates it, will destroy all the surface dwellers in the city and replace them with underground creatures, such as moles. Darkwing makes his way to the top of the tower, where he confronts and defeats Moliarty and destroys his machine. Hooter alerts Darkwing that Hammerhead Hannigan has robbed St. Canard's main vault and stolen all the valuables from it with his henchmen; Darkwing successfully captures the goat gangster and his gang, thwarts their raid, and returns all the stolen loot. F.O.W.L. has set up their floating fortress above the ocean, and once Launchpad locates it, Darkwing sets out to barge into the fortress, scrambling the Eggmen (F.O.W.L.'s foot soldiers) and scuffling with Ammonia Pine, and eventually engaging in a boss battle with Steelbeak. After battling in three brief phases, Steelbeak laments that Darkwing has foiled his organization's plans, but recovering, he tells DW that next time, F.O.W.L. will win. Hooter contacts Darkwing and congratulates him on what he's done so far, but also states that he still has a ways to go before he can claim victory.
At this point, all that remains of L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. is the Fearsome Five. Quackerjack and his toy henchmen are blocking the construction of the new Golden Cascade Bridge and injuring the workers; the bridge must be cleared before any further damage is done. GizmoDuck has been sent to protect the bridge, and when Darkwing finds out, the two ducks feud with one another and ultimately Gizmo is turned away by DW. Eventually Darkwing confronts Quackerjack, who attacks with his top sidekick, Mr. Banana Brain, at his side; after a brief battle, Quackerjack is defeated and retreats. Launchpad receives an S.O.S. call from a worker in the sewers, where he learns that the Liquidator is on the loose and is taking control of all the water there; Darkwing suspects that he must be plotting to turn St. Canard's water into hard rubber, which is later confirmed. After Darkwing battles with the Liquidator for a while, the aquatic advertiser is defeated when one of the sewer workers pours a bag of cement all over him and turns him into a concrete statue, saving the city's water supply. Darkwing's next mission is to investigate a strange occurrence in the Cayuga Forest, which may be the work of Dr. Reginald Bushroot. It turns out he's been manipulating all the plant life in the forest and is making new friends for himself out of it. Once Bushroot is defeated, he too retreats. Megavolt is robbing the warehouses along the wharf with his henchmen, and Darkwing must defeat him and retrieve all of the stolen goods. After battling with Darkwing for a long while, the electricity manipulator is defeated when one of the warehouse workers throws a full bucket of water onto his head, causing him to short out.
Quackerjack, the Liquidator, Bushroot, and Megavolt report their defeats to Negaduck, who angrily scolds all of them for their failures and announces that he will threaten to destroy Darkwing himself. Negaduck appears to Darkwing as he is celebrating a victory that seems apparent to him, then kidnaps Gosalyn and tells DW that he must meet him at his headquarters if he wants her back. Darkwing makes his way to the Fearsome Five headquarters, confronts Negaduck, engages him in a long battle, and eventually defeats him and frees Gosalyn. The Fearsome Five escape along with Darkwing and Gosalyn as their headquarters collapses, but before long, the criminals are found by the police, arrested, and sent to prison. At the game's close, Darkwing remarks that "now that the conniving conspiracy of these confounded criminals is kaput, the citizens of St. Canard can once more enjoy a sense of comfort and security."

To be fair, this game is in the right amount of difficulty. So this is a hard but fair game unlike many other NES games that are more difficult in some unfair moments; looking at u 3 Ninja Gaiden games and 3 Castlevania games. That doesn't mean there bad games, but depending how difficulty is, u either tolerate it or not.

So capcom needed to get through it, ducktails had the same engin and that was a great game.

Wow, I remember this Darkwing Duck game. I was only 12 when I played this game and completed it, Piece of cake. I could still hear the musics in my brain. Its a Mega Man in a disney version.

We can only assume that Capcom just used the same engine for it to save money.
Duck Tales 1 & 2 are also very similar.

I've played the GameBoy-Version as a kid. It was black and white but I think mostly the same. It was a lot of fun but very hard. And if I'm not mistaken you couldn't save a file.

Man, capcom used to be so good at making games based off of liscensed properties. And look at them now.
Oh well, now it's Way Forward's day.

The sound of when darkwing duck fly’s to a level, that sound reminds me of the sound from those giant crushing chain head in yoshi’s island, also just like in yoshi’s island you have to load a ballon with air in order to fly away with it,did nintendo took inspiration from darkwing duck? We will probably never know.

This game has great music, lovely art and it's complete and utter torture to play. Every inch of progress is an ordeal of split-second timing and pixel-perfect precision, and I honestly don't understand how anybody could get anywhere past the first few steps without save states. I made it through the sewers but the city level with the shell-flinging toads is handing my ass to me over and over again. I tip my hat and bow to anybody who is able to even remotely play this... But I'm clearly not built for it. It's a shame :-( I want to like it.
