I bought one of those off amazon for about $42. I plugged it in and the readings went up and up till about 900, then back down to 0 and that was it. 3 minutes of numbers then nothing but 0's for particle readings. temp and humidity worked, but I wraped it back up and sent it back. I exchanged it for another one. Hopefully I get a good one.

Thanks for the information. Hopefully you get one that actually works. The randomness of getting one that works is why I don't recommend these any longer. Let us know how the new one does. 👍

Very interesting. The PMS5003 is also available on ebay and Aliexpress for some 10-15 euro/dollar. But there is also a version "PMS5003ST" which is almost identical, but has AFAIK a higher "maximum mass concentration of particulate matter" (2000ug/m3 instead of the normal 1000). Dimension, power, pin count etc are the same.
No idea if that one would work, but it has a promise of having a better (other) batch of sensors.
Cause these one seem to be dumped on the chinese market.

You can buy another sensor it’s modular PSM5003

Thank you Max for the information. I mention in the video that you can buy a replacement sensor which is module PMS5003, but which also has the same issue as the sensors that come in the Hotkrem.

Great job again Steven, I thoroughly enjoyed both videos. Given the quality control issues with the sensor, no more HotKrem for me. I will wait for you to review the upgraded AirKnight when it's available. And if it passes your testing, I will buy that in the future. All the best...

Thank you for your comments Travis - they are truly appreciated. I am not sure what is going on with the AirKnight, as Jim hasn't responded yet, nor have I been given any updates about how the new AirKnight is coming along in development. I am still hopeful that Jim will be sending one to me for review and testing, but I guess I will just have to be patient and wait and see... 👍👍👍
