Can the Dork Get His Groove Back? 5 Days on Dirt Bikes in Canada, Day 3

  • Day 3 of the ‪@TractioneRag‬ Big Rock Candy Mountain event was supposed to be the "rest day." Like every day of this 5 day Canadian dirt bike riding extravaganza, that was only partly true. We headed out to the Batchelor off road riding area near Kamloops to hit up some cool hill climbs and desert riding on the Honda CRF250F and Honda CRF250X. After getting thoroughly pummeled by some of the hardest and most beautiful dirt bike singletrack I've ever seen on day 2, the optional challenges of the off road play area were a welcome change. Day 3 turned out to be exactly what I needed to get my feet back under me and remember that dirt bike riding can also be fun.
    Make sure you check out the full 5 Days on Dirt Bikes in Canada playlist!
    Thanks to the @TractioneRag for the opportunity to come out and tackle this amazing Canadian dirt bike riding.
    Big shout out and thanks to @spitescorner for suffering through this experience alongside me. I couldn't have done it without you, my man.

    After picking up my crashed/dropped/stalled 390 Adventure more times than I care to recall in Death Valley a couple years back, I thought I was done trying dirt. "Too old. Yes. Too old to begin the training." But seeing you persevere, and hearing your voice sound just like my voice does in my helmet when I'm struggling, has inspired me to take a other crack at it. Scratch that... Inspired me to do it! "There is no try..."
    You're an inspiration, man! Thanks!!

    I have a confession to make. When I first started seeing content by you I immediately said "This guy cannot ride, why would I waste time checking out his content." Well, I was wrong about you, you may not be the best rider out there (nor am I), however, you bring intellect and engaging objective information, I have grown to really appreciate the information you provide and the weight it carries. Thanks for the great content that I gain something from each time I watch.

    Awesome work Dork! I've only seen some of the previous vids of this trip but noticed that when you were struggling the other day in the Knar you had lost your clutch slip technique. Then it showed back up, maybe a bit overdone, when you hit that hill at 13:50. Got keep those revs up, not just for power when you need it but for gyroscopic stability effects.

    I agree with what you said in the beginning, confidence is absolutely key. Sometimes when I mess up while riding I feel like I experience this domino effect, likely just a loss of confidence, where I start making really dumb mistakes on really easy stuff. I wonder if there are any tricks to reset and get out of that headspace.

  • @andrewcammer2535
    @andrewcammer2535 Месяц назад

    What an awesome place to ride. I love the no inner monologue, just saying your stream of Consciousness inside your helmet. It sounds somewhat familiar LOL
    I have noticed watching the series, and I have to ask, what's up with all of the downhills with the clutch pulled in? I know there's about 10 different ways to do something, but anytime I've ever descended a hill I want to make sure that I'm in gear and I'm letting the motor roll along, so I'm ready to snap the throttle if I need to apply some acceleration to adjust the bikes attitude, trajectory, etcetera. Obviously you can come off the clutch and do that, but why not engine brake a little bit?

    Most of us mere mortals don't ride to their abilities when they're anxious and unsure. Riding in the wet also sucks balls IMO. I avoid it like the plague so when I do have to do it it's no fun at all. I think you're doing well mate. That riding from the previous day looks like it'd be awesome in the dry.

    Ben, having someone in front of you makes for interesting content as opposed to the first person view. I know you ride alone a lot, so you can't do that. Just thought I'd let you know. The trails in this video look so fun. Challenging, but not too hard. Would be so fun on the 250F.
