    This was what i was asking about in the live stream. Between swybrid, this, and the 1 note plus 3 notes per string sequences you really have some incredible techniques up your sleeve. Criminally underrated, like most artists that are ahead of their time. Rock on.

    I've been using these techniques for some time with a guitar in all forths tuning and it's a lot more simple for staying in key with doublestops and no hiccups with the bump in the B string for quintal arpeggios.

      Awesome playing as usual.
      If someone wanted to learn Allan Holdsworth guitar licks with smaller hands would using a shorter scale guitar be helpful in learning these licks?

    • @merrittmussorgsky2937
      @merrittmussorgsky2937 8 лет назад +1

      I believe he uses a yamaha DG80 112 (Allan Holdsworth's signature amp or amp that he used in the early 90's) and I assume just on a clean setting and dry because he uses a beringer v-amp3 for distortion and a yamaha UD stomp or the magicstomp to fatten up the sound. Hope that helps, though I must say I would love a gear walk through as well!

    • @Swybryd-Nation
      @Swybryd-Nation  8 лет назад +7

      Yes Meritt is correct the complete gear rundown for this video is
      1. Stock Vigier Excalibur Shawn Lane Custom
      2. Behringer V-amp 3
      3. Yamaha UD Stomp preset 122
      4. Into effects loop return of a Yamaha DG-80 combo.

      Hey Marshall just out of curiosity, what preset do you use with the Yamaha DG-80? And do you do anything to the UD stomp preset 122 besides turn the delay off...settings etc? One last thing, I don't mean to bug you because I know you're busy and have had a new baby recently. Congrats btw and are in the process of putting up a new website but I got to keep on asking....Can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send me a full list of available transcriptions, licks, notes etc etc for purchase and how to purchase them? My email is merrittchristmas@gmail.com. I saw a video you made with Troy Grady where you said "If even one person can get something out of this it would be worth it." I am that one person and I would be forever in your debt and eternally grateful if you could please send me a list of everything you got. I know its time consuming and you don't need the money but it would mean a great deal to me and I will buy every last thing you have whatever the cost at once. If you could find the time before the holidays that would be...amazing. Thanks again. Again my email is merrittchristmas@gmail.com just send whatever you got. licks, patterns, warm ups, exercises, transcriptions, notes, anything you've jotted down. You sir are a musical miracle and I want to learn from you in any way I can. Thanks again.

    9:49 A perfect practice piece for people to practice that is an old, simple Satriani thing called "The Power Cosmic". Satch reaches over his fretting hand and mutes the strings with his picking hand the whole time, so he's just hammering on all the notes, but it's still a cool piece for practice purposes! ruclips.net/video/gpMLHZgpDoM/видео.html

    Expertly played per your usual. Really cool stuff, Marshall. Upon slowing it down, it looks and sounds like you're playing groups of seven notes. Something like down-hammer-middle-down-pulloff-hammer-middle then repeat on next set of strings?
    EDIT: Looking at it again, does each group start with a second finger "hammer on from nowhere"?

    How does anything you are playing relate to legato? Not even close, way to flip the script but why? Have it your own way dude lie to someone who does not know the difference, keep pumping out the same arpaggiated notes and call it legato.
