I wish I knew how great it feels to get older. I wrote a post recently about turning 40 and I can't believe I bought into this myth that your early 20s are always the best time in your life and it only goes downhill from there. It's so far from the truth at least in my case. I never felt so alive and younger in a weird way and I know my self and take care of myself so much better than before. A woman's life does not stop after 40, far from it. Being 40 feels so much better than being 20 did. 😎🥂
@Coco ❤️ I'm a teacher too, in high school though. .At your age I also started out and at 27 I met my now husband. Btw my first daughter is starting 3rd grade next year and I appreciate primary school teachers so much-they really lay a foundation. ❤️
As a 40 year old, what I would have told my 20ish self: being cool and following trends are BULLSHIT. Just be your uncool and dorky self. You'll be so much happier.
Even back in my teens, I've found the peer pressure that everybody must "be cool" to kind of offputting and annoying and didn't care for it at all. Yet, I always wondered if it were easier to reach certain goals if I was cool, but I never wanted to be that phony kind of cool that I witnessed, and thus went all in on the dorky route. Then again, the concept of coolness might have been totally misunderstood here in Germany, which is showcased best in the music video for the song "Be Cool" by the group Paffendorf. Please feel free to have a look and listen. At your own risk of course ;-)
@@elitsaaneva9413 My husband and I call it the "Penelope syndrome" when you try to be quirky, unusual, or dorky on purpose to get likes and reactions (It came from Criminal Minds where it was OBVIOUS Penelope was done as an over the top manic pixie dream girl). So it means is no need to go against your personal style to be cool and trendy, but also don't go against your style and be quirky, weird, and awkward as well. Too many are doing that, and it comes off as SO FAKE. Just be yourself, and those who appreciate you will gather around. And quality over quantity! It's OK to have a few good friends vs many fake friends :)
I wish I knew before 25, now 27, that I did not have to have kids. I just never thought about it not being for me. I am so free now that I don't have this huge clock ticking to make a baby just because it's the norm.
Also that you don't have to make a decision to have kids or choose a partner based on that clock if you dont know yet. You can freeze your eggs, you can adopt, you can have them early, late or not at all, with a partner or without, you have the freedom to not want them now and change your mind in 15 years, or never change it, but most important is you don't have to make a decision before X age!
@@Babesinthewood97 In what kind of culture did you grow up where people tell you to not have children? My cousins aren't even 25 and some of them already have kids, me being 20, my grandparents and parents and cousins are already waiting for me to have them too lol (which I am planning on doing once I'm like 30). How old are you now btw?
You don't have to have kids, like for somebody else. But you do for YOURSELF (preferably with the man who loves you). Many women realize it too late: whether you want it or not, the clock IS ticking for women. If you feel the pressure, that's because your family care. In our society not everybody can AFFORD kids the way they would love to. Kids became kinda ultimate luxury. So women just "unwanted" it. At their loss. Because your child is the most wonderful, the most fantastic, the most fulfilling experience you can have in this life.
I’m exactly the same with the dark books/tv etc. I curate my entire life around peace. I cant even stand the sound of action on a tv in the next room. Happy birthday gorgeous Jenny, thanks for your good vibes 😘
I absolutely love grand designs! I wish in my twenties that I knew that work was just work and that everything will usually turn out just fine, no need to stress out so much.
I really enjoy the way you express yourself. It comes as very well thought, sensitive and intelligent. I appreciate you taking the time to find the best words in every video. Thank you for that. Like you, I also feel sometimes dark fiction, music or conversations are just a "negative nourishment" for my body and soul. It took me some time to realize, but it really opened my eyes when I did. Happy birthday! :)
Amen with the cynical books. I learned a year ago that I need a rest from that kind of tv shows and movies also, and I'm much happier since I'm following it
I totally go with you with the knowing your productive times. Actually, there is scientific proof that some people are mornings-birds and some are night-owls which is partially (it is not completely researched yet) destined by the time your body temperature peaks in the day. I found this so helpful since I am an evening person but the common understanding is to work first and then finish around 4 or 5 pm- I tried to fit into this but by knowing that it is a given thing, I have now learned to listen to my body and am very thankful that I am able to work at the times that suit me best!
Happy chill birthday! 🥳 I love Grand designs too. When i read Crime and Punishment i had nightmares, but i looove Dostoyevsky ...so now i just know that i have to get mentally ready when starting one of his books.
It's so interesting that you mention the first point--I thought it would be a very good idea to remove all apps from my phone in order to foster inspiration, and although that was well-intentioned, I found myself literally staring into space during anxious or low moments... I am glad to announce that Pinterest is back on my phone, haha
I know this is not the point of your video but I LOVE your hair colour so much. You're making me want to grow out my natural hair colour again, it's a pretty similar shade but I get highlights. Love your videos Jenny!
Yes I am the very same with films, music, books, I am so much absorbing it feels always(!) to be part of the happenings and vibes in it. I'm very careful about it, with very strict boundaries. :)
Your opinion of yourself matters most if all! Yes it is nice when people like you but it does NOT matter if they don't. Just wish them well and move on.💫

I've been searching for some feel-good books recently, since I realized I'm much too sensitive about what I read right now. Would you please recommend some? Great video!
In my 20s I wish id a full bloods work done for eg ca125, fhc etc... I also wish I'd not studied as much, worked hard and saved for my own home I'm 43 lots of degrees and no home.. Stupid eh 🙄
I so enjoy your videos. Not just the content but your presentation is both light and humorous. Oh no! Just as I was typing this you used Christ’s name. 😢

for me the pressure was the opposite-to be unusual and dorky instead of just being myself, which matches with some of the trends
