Thanks so much! You make it look so easy. Why Mazda made this so ridiculously difficult. I will never understand. Why they quit making the Mazda six I certainly don’t know. Thanks a bunch. I’m gonna play every video you made and I have subscribed.
Thank you, I really appreciate you uploading this!! I was just going to order LED's for a 2010 Mazda 6 and I needed to find someone who showed how and your video popped up and took ALL the guess work out...
Awesome thank you so much, very detailed, very helpful, I appreciate you going step by step. Yah I saw some of the other videos, some of them choose not to jack up the car or take the wheel off, your way is much easier, thanks again
I have the same exact car and my car has almost the same identical scratches all over LOL, hope this helps me. I also saw the dudes video where he just pry's a nerf football in there
Thanks for the video. You made it really easy to do. Big question is why the headlight keep blowing out on my 2011 Mazda 6 but thanks anyway for the video.
Excellent video. The worst part is Mazda screwed up their wiring/electrical design for their headlights causing the headlights to fail about every 2 to 3 years. What a pain. I like my 2010 Mazda 6 for its engine but the overall quality is not nearly the same as a Toyota or Honda.
These cars have different setups for different trim levels. You may be able to access your bulbs from under the hood, or you may not. If you can then you don’t need to do this… obviously.
Here's my issue though.....how do you make the beams straight? When I change the bulbs, they have to be in the right position in order to clip them down, but after I do that, the beams are going in different directions. Am I missing something?
My dad doesn’t have the car anymore so I can’t physically look but pretty much all cars have a way to adjust the headlight beam. My 97 civic sure does.
Yes dude - it is a pain in the butt for something that needs to be replaced every so often. There are so many cars that are out there - certainly an engineer might have said how can I make this unit to simply slide on out as an assembly so the lamps can be changed .. Easy .. Jack the car up and pull the tire then pull the fender well guard out - yeah we can do that in the same 2 minutes it takes for a Sienna .
THIS IS NOT THE EASY WAY FOR A 2008!!! Here is the easy way: Pop your hood. behind each set of headlights you will see a black/dark grey cap (facing verticle) that is about the size of your palm(or your hand if your hands are small.) Squeeze your hand behind the cap and twist counter clockwise. it should pop off pretty easily. Once off you can access your bulb. You will have to push down and then slightly left on the little metal spring (looks like a square-ish flag), lift the spring and pull the bulb socket out of the little hole. Once it is out, remove the actual bulb by pushing down on the clip at the very bottom of the socket and pulling the bulb out. You simply put a new bulb in its place but DO NOT TOUCH THE NEW BULB WITH YOUR BARE HANDS!!! Return the new bulb and socket into the hole, may require a litte wiggling, or adjusting to get it into the right position. then push the spring down and then right to secure it. put cap back on- it does say "top" so you know how it is supposed go,) then twist cap clockwise to lock into place.
This is the video I followed ruclips.net/video/aRkTRVOoXfs/видео.html Granted it's still quite fiddly given limited visibility but it doesn't require you to take off a wheel or the front bumper to get to the light.
Tried doing this myself, the clip keeping the bulb in place flew off, couldn't find it anywhere. Does anyone have any idea for a DIY solution for it? I'm gonna try to look for a replacement at the junkyard tomorrow, but I'd like to have a backup plan in case i can't find one.
@Good house I’m thinking they may be different for differently trim levels or something because I just looked again and there’s no access from under the hood at all. I called Mazda and gave the vin they said it can’t be serviced from under the hood. Also maybe different models for different countries. They couldn’t tell me why some people are commenting otherwise hahaha.
I’ve got the exact same Mazda6 as you (same Year) and you can’t get access to that headlamp cover from the engine compartment unless you have the tiniest hands and know how to contort your limbs temporarily. I’ve always done it with removing the wheel with your method. Only problem is the clip mechanism broke on my last change years ago and I just sort of hail Mary’d it for a few years until I had a front end collision recently. I’m trying to keep the car as salvage but have to replace the passenger head light to hopefully pass the sheriff’s safety check to get it back on the road I bought some kind of after market projection replacement kit for the car that looks like it had its own clip setup so I’m hoping to swap it. I bought my car brand new from factory in 2009 and this car has always had the absolutely worst headlight projection of any car. It’s a design/safety flaw. I’ve had them repointed and the still suck. You have to drive with the high beams on to see almost as good as modern vehicles do with their low beams on. I really think I Mazda should have recalled our year/style and provided better lighting
@@The-Merchandise mate I change all my headlight and indicator and high beams from the engine…. So don’t tell me I can’t when that’s what I do…. You’re doing something wrong takes me 1 minutes to change a headlamp
@@The-Merchandise I will make a video of myself removing and installing a headlamp bulb on my Mazda and comment the link once I have….. I’ve worked on cars for 10 years now and never had to take off a wheel for a headlight bulb
Omg. I'm borrowing a friend's car for two days, one of the bulbs has blown and I thought that I would change it. Fuck that...What A lot of work just to change a bulb.
Takes 4 min from the front both I am 53 years old and do not know anything about cars ... but pro does it in 4 minutes ... and I have the same car ... ask for help costs a maximum of 15 € if they do not free to you..I have done it 3 times on my car
It’s cheaper than the dealer doing it. With the cost of the bulbs you are close to $100 for them to do if. I swear the car was designed this way on purpose for their service centers to get extra business
There is nothing easy about this. I did it once and now I pay someone to do it. Plus the stupid light burns out at least every other year if not more. I will NEVER buy another car that requires you to take off the wheel and trim to access a headlight. Worst design ever.
Omg i need a dad i gotta do all this just to change a bulb 😅😅😅😅
For real tho 😢😅😂
Yup, this is absolutely ridiculous xDD And this is not the only "modern" car with this design fu**ery!
Finally someone who shows step by step with patience thank you
Thanks man worked a treat. Too bad it was actually the fuse that was blown. Haha. Maybe you could add another video about that
Short and detailed. Thanks for the video

Thank youuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!! - a daddy's girl who can change a tire but never really had to bother with lights ♥
Thank you so much for this post! Easy to follow instructions. So simple an accountant can do it! LOL!
Got your back jack
Good video thank you for putting it up here and keeping it real

Thanks 😂 Ripped off a layer of skin on both my arms, but my Xenon bulbs are finally replaced 😅
No need to jack car or remove tire, just turn wheel outwards of whatever side you’re doing and you will still have enough room.
Cool intro.. simple process. Nice. Thanks for the video.
Any time amigo.

i wonder if this would apply for the hid model

Gotta wait for the weekend to give it a go, will def come back to report!
Te agradezco mucho el que hayas hecho este video. Me ayudó mucho para no quitar completo el parachoques.

I have a 2012 Mazda 6. This is the most asinine design.
2009 model, here. Just so awful.
Special place in hell for the engineer that designed this
@@wanderingacres9528 Hopefully lol
Good job
Thank you for this video brother
You're very welcome thanks for the interaction. Haven't signed in in a while maybe I should start making vids again 😂
Is there a faster way than this? So far this seems way better than most other videos.
Thanks Homie❤made my day easy
Got your back jack

Same here. Ive had to replace mine at least 4 times. Its a really asinine design with this low beam.
Great vid, so helpful!!

Finished. The trickiest part was putting the bulb in and putting the clip to hold it in place. This is just one reason I will never buy another Mazda.
do you have to take off tire?
Thank You Young Man
Thanks!
Awesome video
You can do the low beams without taking anything off and get it throught the top side. Just kind of a little pain.
We were able to replace our 2007 Mazda6 low beam bulb by opening the hood and reaching in behind the bulb. No need to remove the wheel and all that.
Only works on one side , the other side has stuff in the way .
These cars have different setups for different trim levels. You may be able to access your bulbs from under the hood, or you may not. If you can then you don’t need to do this… obviously.
Is it the procedure the same way for a Mazda 6 2012?
Yes. I have the same year and recently replaced all the headlight bulbs.
Here's my issue though.....how do you make the beams straight? When I change the bulbs, they have to be in the right position in order to clip them down, but after I do that, the beams are going in different directions. Am I missing something?

oh shit,! change the light need to take off the tyre first? terrible design, because i have one Mazda 6😢
