    "I'm the Homelander".
    #Homelander #TheBoys
    Homelander is a hilarious and tragic character at the same time, what making him one of my favourite in The Boys.
    This show is definately one of the greatest shows I've ever seen.

    I feel like he once did try, like genuinely TRY to save people and be a real superhero but just due to his lack of a proper upbringing he couldn’t connect to the people he saved, the humans. He couldn’t build a relationship and just saw them as sacks of meat. And he tries still to build human connections and be loved by someone. He once looked for it in his human dad Vogelbeaum, his human mom Stilwell. Queen Maeve is first ever love and the only person who actually cared about Homelander and didn’t use him to push an agenda. He’s just deeply tortured and craving human connections that it eats him up. It’s really not his fault he is the way he is. He’s not the monster....he’s the product of the monsters.

    Homelander is truly one of the best written characters, ever. Portrayed by a talented actor and written by competent writers. He has so many layers to his character, and the fact that so many people interpret the way he acts so differently is just proof of that. He’s a monster created by corporate greed and American ideals.
    This show isn’t trying to say that Homelander is the ultimate evil, it’s that the people who made him are the evil.

    This is so well made to the extend I am watching this while shitting 2 in the morning. I for once see Homelander's mindset from another perspective, in him being the victim.
    The ending scene intrigues me the most, Homelander constantly muttering to himself "I can do whatever the fuck I want... I can do whatever the fuck I want..." (pardon me if he also said it multiple times in the show before which would be even better in supporting my theory).
    Homelander knows he is the strongest being, he knows Vought will clean up his mess no matter at what cost and he will always be pardoned by the public and the media, but still why does Homelander still constantly utter those words to himself? In my own believe, he is trying to overcome a certain barrier that is both restricting him from going absolute berserk and also hurting him at the same time mentally.
    Homelander can do whatever the fuck he wants and that isn't a problem, but some bits of crippling humanity residing in him is trying to pull him back from falling off the cliff. Homelander constantly reminding himself of his utmost twisted freedom is a way of making him forget his eternal pain in life from childhood, to make his mind drown into the pits of seeking revenge and compensation and also, to express his inner feelings.
    This can also be evident especially in certain people (like me) that have or are dealing with relationship breakups. At times we don't wish such things to emotionally affect or cripple our lives especially when they hold significantly deep memories and are hard to let go of, and people that succumb to such pain often suffer from depression. Certain people that are slightly tougher wouldn't wish to be affected by such tragedy and instead would *distract* themselves from depression by focusing on themselves, to upgrade themselves, at times changing certain behaviors such as switching to more "aggressive" music in order to make the victims forget the pain they have suffered.

    Ironic uhh?, Society created a monster, but that monster reflected what society is as a whole, false hope and corruption.

    Man…out of all the supermen knockoffs, HomeLander has the best looking suit. Maybe I’m being. A little biased since I’m patriotic and have the utmost respect for my home country of USA but it’s an amazing slick design. I wish he was one of the kindest heroes and wasn’t a villain but I guess we wouldn’t have such a good show if he wasn’t a villain. (yes I know Anthony Starr said he’s only interested in playing villains) This Show is literally centered around him and his villainous character, I can’t wait for the season 3 finale this coming week!

    I hope next season he will go through evolution and become more focused on his anger towards humanity and his God complex and not on desire to be loved and connected. And then everyone is fucked. Cause no one have no idea how to even hurt him physically everyone is just using his emotional problems.

    I don’t think the general audience doesn’t notice how complex homelander is. For example they just label him as a “bad guy”. My opinion though is he’s reacting to being treated by a dark sterile world. Because if you think about it he’s been consistent the whole show. (Besides butcher)

    • @thedood9503
      @thedood9503 Год назад +1

      No he’s the bad guy and that’s pretty clear cut no matter how complex the rest of his character is. Just because his life was horrible doesn’t make him this misunderstood anti hero or something

    • @skyguyflyinghigh
      @skyguyflyinghigh 5 месяцев назад

      for real, i'd call him more of a spoiled mishandled toddler than a "bad guy" he does bad things sure, but its because that's how you was raised, its like if you were beaten in childhood and the only praise you got was when you stood up and were spoiled, you would value strength over everything seeing that as what gets positive attention, you were taught that was important and good.
      as much as i'd cheer for the dude dying his genesis is that of a man who was taught strength was everything, so in his mind that makes him better, had no family, so desires familial connections of any kind, children or parents, and anthony starr's performance makes him even better.

    Хоумлендер получился очень выразительным персонажем. Как ни парадоксально, такой Супермен получился гораздо человечнее многих персонажей "не суперов". Если поначалу он воспринимается как нарцисс-психопат, то затем сериал дает нам заглянуть в его душу. Мы видим его детские травмы, видим людей, которых он искренне любил и которые постоянно лгали ему, видим там себя... И с тех пор так однозначно относиться к нему не получается. Конечно, это все стало возможно еще и благодаря актерскому мастерству Энтони Старра. Он, конечно, феномен. Мимика, энергетика, голос - все на космическом уровне. А уж насколько у него поставленная речь! Каждое слово словно лазером вырезано

    I was always bothered by the protest scene. Oh so your ok with the war but should a guy in a cape commit a war crime then you get all uppity? They're protesting a symptom but ignoring the cause. I was laughing at them when homelander just zapped them.

    • @Tonius126
      @Tonius126 3 года назад +5

      It was Vought who set that up, to check Homelander now and again to remind him that he's not beyond reproach. Vought could have easily blocked the distribution of that video and make a media black out(maybe similar to media blackout on South African killing and torturing of their white farmers) but choose not to.

      I feel like it may be because they felt like he was irresponsible to get a civilian killed directly because of him shooting off his laser. Because they may think less civilian deaths would happen with an extra aware and powerful superhero. Even though I hold the same opinion as you and they shouldn’t as angry for one accidental kill considering he still stopped the terrorist. It’s realistic tho because if any army/police force stops a criminal/group of criminals no one cares unless even ONE civilian is killed no matter the circumstance so they can villainise them

    I haven’t read the comics, so idk if the homelander suit is completely accurate to that, but the American flag hanging vertically from the back of the most evil mf in the show. It’s probably some heavy handed metaphor about the American dream, but his character in the show is such a perfect representation of americas greed,and maybe even its referring to the superpower that is the US military. Since in the show, homelander has enough power to protect a country somewhat

    Вчера досмотрел последнюю серию. Под впечатлением конечно,ролик отличный. Энтони Старр должен получить золотой глобус(я надеюсь),мне(думаю многим) его актерская игра ещё с первого сезона нравилась. Ну и для меня главный минус сериала(лов) это незаконченность истории и ожидания следующего сезона,это прямо душит:)

      Возможно будет желание сделать видео по сериалу «The leftovers» , считаю что по нему можно отличное видео в стиле драма сделать,под того же Рихтера(это так, подкидка идей;)),если не смотрел(а) сериал,то рекомендую , Керри Кун конечно там шикарно играет. И да,ещё раз,видео отличное.
