@@nicks2528 It looks like he's been able to monetize it and help us mechanically challenged folks out in the process, too. I love to support the community with my pocketbook; the swamp cooler is cheaper than stealth parking in Prescott!!!!
Engineers are literally the best survivalist ever. This guy literally is a fucken genius in what he created and it's all eco friendly and cost efficient. He should really teach people on how to do things like this to help surviving in van life.
To all those who have expended tens of thousands on RV/Campers over the past several years, this guy's actually "Hacked" the RV/Camper solution; owing only Gas, Oil & interval maintenance! Brilliant !
The one thing that I love about the CheapRVliving channel is how this community designs and engineers their vehicles for a simple but ingenious fix on just about anything to make life easier for them. Great episode!
My favorite part? It has to be that he can stand in a Sienna! 🙂 I have a Sienna and I call it NanoVan. But he was able to open his Sienna up in a couple of directions. My 3.3L V6 is still running like a champ at 243K miles.
Wow, maybe the single best vehicle mod I've ever seen. Very efficient and adding unprecedented features to a minivan. When will vehicle manufacturers wake up and be this innovative and efficient?
This man is an engineer! Impressive hacks throughout! AND it’s on a Toyota! You can’t go wrong with a Toyota! I’m curious what gas mileage he gets. Can you post that info? Love this build.
This is very cool. I so much more enjoy watching creative one-of-a-kind builds, than something from a manufacturer (like those crazy-expensive bus-sized RV -- that are poorly built!).
Damn! This man is so creative! I love how he uses his own 3D printer to create whatever parts he needs! His options are endless. I’d love to see the shower pod. Cool rig!
I think this is incredible; I grew up watching my dad constantly messing with the garage he built onto our house using only salvaged materials. I always wondered what he was doing, but he was in there making it more functional for our family and our needs. From the outside, it wasn't pretty, but man it was cool inside. All the neighborhood kids would ask to come inside our garage; I imagine their parents wondered what was so special about a big shed strung together w/ different waterproof materials (Southeast AK is a rainforest, not the tropical kind obvs).
Don't be a stranger! The cool builds are starting to take over Main Street but The Season is just getting started. La Posa North was safer for single women than South was last year, but West was recommended this year if you're doing the LTVA. We also have plenty of free 14 day campsites.
Very interesting engineering exercise to create a mini-van with many RV conveniences and a stand-up interior. I'll bet you attract enormous attention both on the road and when parking; certainly NOT stealth! Actually, seems if you started with a high-top cargo van (or added a top) then added your innovations, you would wind up with something easier to build, with a lot more room and comfort that wouldn't attract so much attention.
More explanation about the rear tent please. Self sewn/modified from another manufacturer/time to deploy/assemble tent. Rear hatch support system could be designed for almost every SUV. Rear hitch mount cargo rack could also be base for the tent support.
I have a Toyota Estima 2002 minivan and he gave me a great idea for my roof 🎉 great video and great build. I think the back tent could be light fiberglass and made permanent? That would be cool
I think my favorite part was the swamp cooler. I like coroplast as well. I used it for a curved "awning" on some outside cat condos to protect cats and kittens from the weather. Of course UV destroyed it after about 6 months.
wow. If you ever thought you've seen it all, this video is the clear proof that not. And if you search kind of a hybrid between Angus MacGyver, Q (from James Bond) and Gyro Gearloose, here you are at the right address ... Thanks a lot and my absolute respect, Sir!
Of course not. 😂😅😂 Somebody else grabbed the Sienna I wanted before I could get a mechanic to look at it, so I wound up with a '07 DGC no buid build. 192K when I bought it, 220K now, and I looooooooooove it. ❤❤❤
@Hiker97 I'm the one who had the kotter pin in my transmission jiggle loose in Yuma last year. 🤣 They really are great cars, I just want to go back to school so I can learn how to fix them myself. Each one teach one! Birds fly, fish swim, and humans learn. 👍
Very cool, but he completely forgot about the suspension. That rear end sag is brutal and throwing off the suspension geometry. He really needs heavy duty springs, a lift kit and stronger wheels, and tires that are rated for a heavier load. Most likely a truck setup.
With 210,000 miles on that van, it won't be long until he trades so the weight is a negligible factor at this point in the life of the vehicle. I do wonder what DMV would say, though. It's all so cool until it's not. I think conforming to vehicle constraints us better than pushing them. He still deserves kudos for creativity, despite the practical flaws. Not sure this rig is safe for others on the road at highway speed! May be, but I'm iffy.
I pretend I could modify a van and live in it. I want to be this guy when I grow up . My grandchildren would love it if I had this van. I greatly admire people willing to get rid of STUFF to make room for an adventurous life
My favourite part is that this guy does things to suit himself and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks

High honors, well-deserved :)
I want to travel with him!!! 😍😊
NO DOUBT ಠ ͜ʖ ಠ
More like inspector gadget
Yes he is...lol
One of the most unique builds I've seen over years of watching vanlife videos

This guy is pretty damn smart, who cares what it looks like as long as it does what it's supposed to do.
We camped beside this guy last year at LaPosa North. He demo’d the inflatable shower tent after the photographer left. It’s supercool too!
The only change I would make is having the roof pop-up. Pop-ups cost a fortune, but this guy could make one if anyone could.
As someone who does construction/remodeling... This is freaking awesome! This dude is 😎
Wow. I have watched hundreds of camper conversions but this one is unbelievable
Those that are tinkerers and makers either by vocation and/or as a hobby fascinate me! So many innovations in one van -- very creative!
The creativity of his build is excellent.
I, like so many others are very impressed with your knowledge and skills figuring it all out. Be still my heart 🥰.
I just have one word... Genius!
Wow! He’s really creative! Thank you for sharing this 🩷

This man is talented and creative. Love this rig. 😊
Fantastic set up!
I'm impressed that the passenger seat can swivel. Well done! I would like to see more of that aspect of the build. Thanks for sharing!
@@markmcla I just took mine out, but swiveling passenger seats are the gold standard.
Maybe next rig; birds fly, fish swim, and humans learn.
Very normal on Europeans motorhome
2x4's and casters on mine, pathetic compared to this
This guy is very smart. Love it! Great ideas!
Comfort over aesthetics👍
Wow! The hell with what it looks like, make it work. Love it, great job !!
Definitely not his first rodeo! Also, the creativity is endless!
Wow! This guy is a genius!
Dang, the more I listen, the more impressive. Love all his gadgets ❤

Amazing if you can dream it, you can make it !
Get this man working for NASA.
Worked for Nasa, and he is like a typical Nasa engineer!!
😭
Lol
It's cool, but it ain't gonna fly...
He has high mechanical engineering knowledge
No stealth camping with this van! What a series of inventions.
What do you mean? This unit is undetectable as the Stealth Bomber.😊
OMG Less - Your amazing! We need more people like you in this world. The brain dead RV manufacturers need to learn from you.
Im at a loss for words

BRILLIANT!
You are a genius !! I wud have loved to see the shower pod !! THANKS❤
What an interesting guy an amazing setup. He has everything to make himself very comfortable. Thanks for the interview, Brian.
Coming to Quartzsite the day after Christmas! Can’t wait! I love seeing all those interesting builds. 👍❤

Totally Genius build ... Thank you both for sharing a tour! Awesome number of practical features! Enjoy, sir ... God Bless :)
Hahaha that's great! What an engineering mind. Minivan->maxivan, looks very comfortable.
Jaw dropped.
Nomad Wizard! wow
These are clearly the minds behind all the marvel engineering we enjoy today!
Incredible 😊

How does cutting off the roof not make the vehicle structurally unsound?
I can see this rig being pulled over.in every small town😅
I love your ability to make things work the way you want! 😅
Ingenious and innovative.
Great job..good info
I think my favorite part was the swamp cooler.

Dude, I'm with you on the under utilization of Coroplast. There are a world of possibilities here!
Wow wow wow. I’m speechless ❤

So he literally had to cut a massive hole in the roof? Wow
bro that's insanely awesome.
ive always thought about a side out bed out the back
I'll bet he doesn't use this vehicle for stealth camping.

Thanks , was very interesting wow , yes he’s genius man , good inspiration for me ,will no copy it but gave me some idea , thanks again
Brilliant - well done!
I love the top build out
So nice to have skills! They could use your help at HOWA's BYOV!
When I was a little kid I wanted to be Batman. As a middle aged person I want to be this LEGEND! The reliability of Toyota with all the things!
I want to know how much all that weighs and how that weight and additional height affects the drivability of that minivan.
Would an insurance company even consider basic liability with the roof cut in to? Both sides have lost a lot of lateral support.
Niceeee better than a lot of those expensive 100k build! It’s simple and it just works lol
