    This comment may go unnoticed but I just wanted to tell you man your such a beauty. Your videos are so clear and concise, you're like a god sent to GS500 owners. I know you only have -300 subscribers but to those people (well, at least to me) you have made a huge impact on the condition of my bike and my knowledge about my bike. Thank you sir.

    Great video on how to remove the fairings. I have a 09 gs500f very similar to yours. I haven't had to take off the fairings to do my oil changes though. Just needed and extra joint in my arm, :)

    Really need some help!
    Have a 2010 GS500F.... indicator was punched in when I got it.
    Trying to get the front fairing off so I can fibreglass repair the cracks untill I can afford a new one.
    Have removed ALL screws and push pins I can find - but something still holding it.
    (Side fairings already off).
    Seems to be tight somewhere around windshield - dont want to force it.
    What am I missing?
    EDIT: got it! Inner cowling needed moderate force to remove - it had not been off in years and had stuck itself.
    Once cowling was off, easy access to the 5 inner screws around headlight.
    Front fairing then came off easily.
    Cheers anyway!😁👍

    The sliders are by RG Racing. They sell then for the "E" and "F" models. Full instructions are included and they are good, easy to follow instructions. They tell you how to determine the location of the hole in the fairing and what size to frill. It was easy to do.

  • @Lajko1
    @Lajko1  11 лет назад

    No, but they are easy to install. The instructions that come with them are good. All you need are your wrenches and a hole drill bit.

    If you can do the Valve Clearance first it would be super !! Cuz Im must check it in about 500~~450 km left. Not really sure how to. And your tutorial are really handfull and awsome.Especially "center stand" one cuz I'm a little guy too hehe ;-), Right now I'm done with paint job to my gs500 waiting for warms up too so I can put the fairings back on my GS. I will send you some of my gs 500 pic. if you like of course many thanks !!!

  • @Lajko1
    @Lajko1  11 лет назад

    Yes, but they need to specify the right model. The spacer length is a little different for the faired models .vs. the older non-faired models. Get GS500F 2004+. All models 2004+ are the same so don't worry if they say 2004-2006 or some subset of the years. 2004+ is all you need. They can be ordered from some dealers, found on ebay or ordered direct from them in the UK. Get the muffler guards, too. If bike falls onright side, they protect the muffler. Also I use their bar ends- they look cool.

    The Garmin GPS was a motorcycle kit that included all the mounts. The actual mount is a RAM mount that screws into the mirror mount which is there, but not used on the faired models of GS500.
    The rear rack was from Twisted Throttle. There are a variety of rear racks available for the GS500. You might log onto gstwins.com and post the question there, as many people will voice their preferences.

    Did you make a video concerning the "RNG Crash Siders"? I would like to add the same protection to my daughter's GS-500. She already punched through one flasher and would like to avoid this from happening again. Thanks for your video, the best I've seen so far.

    A assume you only really need to take off one side of the fairing to make it easier to access the oil filter ?

    I know this is an old video and the chances of actually getting a reply aren't great, but I love your GS500F tutorials and I really adore mine (2009). I was just wondering which frame sliders you use? And how much of a pain were they to install? I dropped my bike on a hill and the turn signal punched right through just like you said.

    looks nice without the bottom fairings..what kind of lever perch are you using. i believe no one makes adjustable levers for gs500s. Great vid. thanks

    • @Lajko1
      @Lajko1  10 лет назад

      I have LSL levers. They are 100% compatible. You order them direct from LSL in Germany. However the brake lever is compatible with lots of bikes including Honda and Kawasaki. It is the clutch lever that is the problem for compatibility.

    Great Vid!
    Question about the ZeroG touring screen:
    Does it protect your head from the wind with a Normal seating position?
    I have a bubble screen from ZeroG and Only when my head is on the tank
    (an awkward and painfull position on a gs 500) it protects me from the wind.
    Otherwise the screen just redirects the wind straight in the face = extra noise :(
    In my case, oem which does nothing at all, is better.. (I'm 1m83)
    Same problem?
    Tanks in advance!

    • @Lajko1
      @Lajko1  10 лет назад

      I had sonic booms in my face with the double bubble. I find the Sport Touring better and quieter.

    my wife has a gs500f and dropped it a few months after buying it new (silly). The prob is she pushed the turn signal on the right side through the fairing (and cracked the fairing in the process). do you have a vid or would you make a vid showing me how to fix/replace it. thanks and great vid.

    I finally committed to buying them but upon going to check out online I noted that they would be £63.65 to ship them all the way here in Arizona.. I see you also live in the states..did you really spend upwards of $100+ to get these simple frame sliders?

  • @StealthyAban
    @StealthyAban 12 лет назад

    Hey there, I also have a Gs500 (09) and was wondering where did you get your frame sliders from, and also if your not busy you oughta make a video showing how you installed your frame sliders to save me a lot of trouble in figuring it out on my own XD, I like all your vids, good stuff keep it up, thanks again

  • @Lajko1
    @Lajko1  11 лет назад

    It should be cheaper. Many companies in the US carry RG parts. Twisted Throttle does. Many dealers carry their parts. Try an internet search for them. I have ordered direct. When I did, I also ordered bar ends and muffler guards. That spreads the postage across more items.

    hey can u get a closer footage of the right side fairing mine is cracked up where the top flat piece is after my wreck i wanna fiberglass it back also the bracket locations i took them off both sides and can't seem to put them back or how they are suppose to look 1 is bent
    can u show how to take the cowling off and on so i can do that too please

    • @Lajko1
      @Lajko1  11 лет назад +1

      I don't plan on removing the upper fairing until necessary.
      The left and right fairing brackets are mirror images of each other. That should help in getting the right ones straightened up - mirror the left side.
      There should be photos of how they go on the gstwins site. Post there and someone will put up the pictures. Also the parts diagrams are pretty accurate on how they go on.

    All the fairing mounts are replaceable. They bolt to the frame. I probably have spares if I knew exactly which one it is. I have plenty of spare screws.
