    I don't know where this is, but the water and wave shape look like Juno area or further south. I don't get the wetsuits, as the water is mid-70s at coldest. Maybe it was one of our in-and-out low pressure systems driving up a quick swell and bringing in the chilly ENE offshores....

    It's a fun water sport to watch and try.

    Yeah I grew up on Florida's central coast and Sebastián Inlet and it never got this big .dang I surfed behind the old Quiet Flight Surf Shop in South Cocoa Beach on a daily basis from 1979 to 1983 and we had the place pretty much to ourselves besides the guys shaping boards at Quiet Flight (Jim Leaisure and his brother) it was a pretty solid sand break and dreamed of having days like this .but honestly had to make due with the usual 2-3 ft Florida waves

    Reef Road ....one of the coolest and friendliest places to surf. Everyone should load up their friends and boards and come surf here! It's never all that crowded...mostly local yahoo's that drop in.. squid out ..and then a better surfer from somewhere else scores a righteous wave. From the looks of the locals...dentistry is in its infancy here!
    Yeah mate...you might encounter a local with a tip edge on his shoulder...but make no mistake... after a proper lesson..they become crybabies wanting mum to rescue them. I wonder...does Rick have use of his right arm again? He damaged our car and we had it on video....Sadly it seemed his vehicle was smashed to pieces too! What a coincidence!

    • @juno4494
      @juno4494 Год назад

      None, unless there's a hurricane swell. Summer is the flat season, and fall is too early for the winter storms. Catch a hurricane approaching, though, and boom!

    I don’t know how you wear a full suit in south Florida that water is always hot.

    • @mayito714
      @mayito714 Год назад

      It's the outside temperature and the wind in the winter not the water.

    • @SterlingSigurdsen
      @SterlingSigurdsen Год назад +1

      @@mayito714 and it's never that cold there. A topper at best, full suit absolutely not. I know, as I went to school at FAU, and never wore more than a 1.5mm topper.

    • @mayito714
      @mayito714 Год назад +1

      @@SterlingSigurdsen It's not unusual to surf winter swells in Florida with an outside temperature in the low 40's and an offshore wind of 10 to 15 mph. That makes it a wind chill factor of about 29 degrees.

    • @SterlingSigurdsen
      @SterlingSigurdsen Год назад

      @@mayito714 again, you don't need a full suit. a topper at best. the water never dips below 70's there, and if it does, the sun is so damn bright and hot that it actually feels good.

    • @mayito714
      @mayito714 Год назад +1

      @@SterlingSigurdsen Most Florida surfers are not temporary college students and don't just surf South Florida nor is it always sunny and bright when they surf. Theres surf from Little Talbot Islands in the Northeast where the water gets down to 56 degrees all the way down to Miami Beach where the water is rarely less than 70 degrees in the winter. Most surfers dont have the cash to buy an assortment of wetsuits so they buy what they'll need in worse Florida conditions. If they are "Hot" they'll take off the suit. You think?

    Fun looking little wave. One maybe two guys taking off in the right spot then there's about four guys just dropping right in on them every time.
    Obvious lessons need to be taught, and learned. There's far more to surfing than taking off on every wave coming in.
    I would suggest learning about respect before being taught one day in the water.

      No if you start surfing on the east coast of Florida you won’t drown all you have to do is stand up, you got a much better chance of being bit by a pretty small shark you will be fine don’t sweat the small things in life or you will go thru this life always wondering what if, seriously don’t let fear get in the way of doing something you want to do, go give it a shot you’ll be fine.
