I think the Cowboys will fiddle around as they always do. They'll extend Prescott and probably keep McCarthy. People talk about the Seahawks hiring Dan Quinn, but McCarthy has connections to Seahawks management as well. He might ask to interview for that job. If he can persuade the Seahawks management that he can't win playoff games because Jerry Jones won't give him a good enough team, maybe the Seahawks will hire him instead of Quinn. If McCarthy were to talk himself into a job somewhere else, the Cowboys will probably keep Quinn as head coach. If the Cowboys fire McCarthy, Jones will probably elevate Quinn. They'll extend Prescott with another deal that will leave the team paralyzed for the future.
If I were in charge, I would sit down with the entire team and say that every player who stays needs to be focused only on winning a Super Bowl. That would mean that Micah Parsons would be more focused on football than on developing his broadcasting career through a podcast. That means that players who sign contracts and then hold out will be traded. I would tell Prescott that he doesn't have the right stuff to carry a team to a Super Bowl. If he were willing to take a small enough contract, maybe the Cowboys could build a team that would carry him to a Super Bowl. If he accepted that, he could stay.
If Prescott exercises his no trade clause and insists on costing the team sixty million dollars next year, then I'd make bigger changes. I'd trade Zack Martin for draft picks. That would give Martin a chance to compete for a ring at the end of his career. He's not going to play long enough for the Cowboys to win a ring while he's playing. If Tyron Smith doesn't want to retire, I'd trade him as well with the same idea. Maybe he could win a ring with someone else. If Tyler Biadasz were to take a very team-friendly contract, I'd let him stay. Otherwise, I'd play Brock Hoffman and try to get a compensatory pick for Biadasz. I'd move Josh Ball to left tackle. When Prescott is getting hit on every play by right edges running around or through Ball, I'd tell him that we can't afford a better left tackle if we are paying him sixty million dollars. Maybe T.J. Bass will be good enough at right guard. If Tyler Smith feels the least bit hurt, then Prescott can be protected at left guard by Chuma Edoga. Prescott can be a raw steak in a yard full of pit bulls. I think he'll agree to a trade under those conditions.
DeMarcus Lawrence agreed to a team-friendly deal to stay in Dallas. If he sees that the Cowboys can't win a Super Bowl in the time he has left, I'd trade him to team with potential. If he wanted to stay, I'd let him stay. I wouldn't do anything to disrespect him, but if he wanted to go, I'd make the trade and bank the draft picks.
I'd let Pollard go. I'd trade Malik Hooker. I'd let Kearse go. I forget whether Gilmore has another year, but I'd be willing to trade him. If Quinn is gone, they can trade Fehoko Jr. and probably get a fifth-round pick. That's better than nothing. I'd consider trading Jourdan Lewis just because I don't expect him to still be playing when the Cowboys are good again.
I'd try to bring in someone with novel ideas of how to prevent knee injuries. Steele may never return to what he was before his knee injury. Jabril Cox seemed to have great potential and never recovered from a knee injury. Michael Gallup never recovered from a knee injury. We don't know whether Trevon Diggs or DeMarvion Overshown will recover.
I'd pay Cee Dee Lamb as a star wide receiver. I'd turn Micah Parsons back into a dominant linebacker who rushes from the edge sometimes. I'd pay him as a dominant linebacker and not as an edge who gets too tired as the season progresses. I'd pay Jake Ferguson if he can put together another good season.
I know that the Cowboys won't do any of this. Jerry Jones just doesn't have the courage to force players to play for the team. Jerry isn't about the team, so he attracts players who aren't about the team. I realize you aren't reading any of this either. I just write because writing feels good to me. To Hell with all of it.

I'm all for promoting Al Harris and getting a new LB coach. I want McCarthy out, but in my opinion, it's very slim pickings right now for a HC who has fresh ideas for the offense (especially for when we eventually move on from Dak). People been throwing Belichick's name around, but after the abysmal seasons the Pats had this year & last year and the fact that he drafts horrendously, I think hiring him as a HC is a step in the wrong direction. As far as Dak, I think they'll let him play til the end of his current contract like you said, and I pray that they let him walk at the end of that. This next draft should be about ironing out the kinks, but at the same time slowly building the team around Trey Lance

Bro alot of the reason that our boys fold in the playoffs in because the coaching staff doesn’t prepare them. In my opinion the only QBs that did need a coach to prepare them was Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers
I really do think Jerry will just sit on the hand he has. He has rarely been the one to change things. Would love to see someone like Belichick come in. And Parsons needs to just stfu on that podcast crap and play football. He was not as dominant this year as he has been before. Hopefully they can make some good moves for next season or we'll be saying the same thing next January.

Micah disappears cuz DQ decided to put him at DE and trans just use that to their advantage. JJ and the coaching staff decided we don’t need LBs so we get bullied in the run game. Pollard is not a between the guards runner but MC keeps calling the same run plays that don’t work. One DB was able to cover two WRs on that one Dak INT because MC had all the routes in the same area. Point blank were all agree Herbert is better than Dak but look at what coaching did to him after he got Kellen Moore. The real problem is coaching and the GM not wanting to hire good quality coaches. Let Dak play out his contract and groom Lance. Draft a RB and fix this turn-style offensive line. If we keep Dak for the next two seasons then we need to go back to the scheme that got him a 13-3 record in his first year. Cam was right and Dak is a game manager so let him manage the game with a RB who can take pressure off of him in the playoffs. Our O-line needs to be a run blocking O-line not a pass pro line. I'm all for keeping Mike as HC but Quin has to go. This defense let Mike down and he had no running game. Bring in a power back and fix the o-line and we have a different offense next season. Will take a couple drafts to fix the defense and I would not focus on defense this draft unless we can pick up a top LB who falls to us in the first or an edge who can come in and send Micah back to LB full time. Just my opinion.

If you want to fix this thing, Jerry needs to retire from managing day-to-day operations and hire a GM AND coach. Fire McCarthy, he is not the answer. Trade Dak for whatever he is worth. Now, this is painful, we need to pull a Hershel Walker-like trade. Micah and CeeDee for draft picks. Start Lance and see if he has the chops but also draft a franchise quarterback in the FIRST round.
