The rest of the song is so much more groovy and cool, why would you stop everything just to listen to the tried and true, been there done that, boring as fuck blast beat? lol I know it takes effort and skill, but if you've heard one blast beat, you've heard them all. The fact that you can recognize the song from the rest of the drum playing is way more impressive than being able to hit all things really really fast. To each their own, but things like that blast beat and the dumb wanky solos in songs like Nomadic, ruin the songs for me. It goes from super cool riffy/groovy unique "only this band has done it" playing to "look how good we can actually play since for decades you've said we CAN'T play." The blast beat in this song detracts from the overall track the same way that the solo detracts from Nomadic. The beat immediately afterwards is so much cooler because it is 100% unique to this song. You want to hear blast beats, you have a billion other songs you can listen to. It's one of those things that's like, yeah it's hard to play, but everyone has done it. The same with boring sweep arpeggios. Give me the guitars on this tune all day long before you try and tell me sweep arpeggios are interesting, even though technically harder to play. Perhaps a bit of a rant, but the short of it is fuck sweep arpeggios and blast beats to hell. Go listen to every "sounds the same" shred/death metal band if you want uninspired playing.
