I gotta say as a guitarist myself and I love playing some Killswitch Engaged I really like playing the guitar break down during the song "End Of Heartache "..such a killer breakdown and fun as hell to play on guitar
Love KSE!! Just wish I had found them sooner. First heard them 5 years ago at the ripe young age of 53 and have seen them live now twice and they absolutely bring it!! Will never miss a show of theirs anywhere within 6 hours of me!
I really like the questions you asked. You made the most of the time you had while not asking the same generic questions he’s answered probably a million times. Definitely feels like you’re a fan of Killswitch and did some research to compile the best questions you could. Some things in here I’ve been wondering for years. Awesome interview!
If Light The Torch would open for Killswitch I might just have to follow the tour around the country. Also, Self titled (2009) has some amazing deep, dark songs that make you feel pain and anguish. Sometimes that's what we need to open us up and let out the sadness.
Me too. I bought a brand new car last year. A 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. I didn’t realize until my wife and I took it off the lot (meanwhile grabbing my cd book) that it didn’t have a fucking CD player!!! Worst day of my life lol 😂
I discovered Killswitch in 2003. I got a demo cd at Ozzfest and after hearing "Fixation on the darkness". I went out and bought the disc, literally played it till I wore it out, replaced it and bought everything they had available. I still consider them one of my favorite bands. I am a Howard Jones fan, his voice is amazing. But Jesse is also an amazing singer. They're sound, their energy, it's all still there, bringing on an equally talented singer did not diminish anything as far as quality music is concerned. Adam D is the man!!!
The reason why they are so good is 1. song writing and 2. vocal ability of both Howard and Jesse and the the vocals always mesh so well with their instruments' sounds. It's not luck at all but really their dedication and also talent which I suppose you could consider talent as luck. The biggest thing that drew me in was the sonic atmosphere in their songs. Some metal bands sound very generic and cold whereas killswitch songs sound unique and warm.
I'm watching it again 'cause it's one of the best interview related to KSE. Great job man I forgot a lots of things about the back surgery, the price is right etc (that was a funny story BTW). Wish I can meet the guys someday I have a lots of things to say.
Jesses screaming was always superior to Howards and the cleans are just a matter of personal taste. Jesse didn't need to improve anything lol. Literally learned how to scream myself as a teen along to Jesse. His banshee sounding highs are unmatched. Howards screaming just lacks something.
Great interview dude! I can tell you were excited for it haha but that was fun to watch just like their shows! Thanks for sharing, I felt like I was there, great questions.
Light the torch open for Killswitch in FEQ in Québec city, witch open for Slipknot as well for the interested. Can’t wait to see if Howard sing a couple song with Killswitch!!
Kse is so fucking good. First time I heard numbered days . My fucking mind blew. So much power , positive energy , relatable lyrics their and amazing musicianship. Top favorite band ❤ adam and Joel are beast. Love howard and Jesse
I know I’m late to this but I was at the iron maiden gig. Maiden and KSI were for me equal billing and when Howard came on there was a small group of us going nuts but the rest of the crowd stood and watched with hardly any reaction. It was pretty tuff to see a band you love get such a disappointing reaction to a moment of such significance. It was still an awesome gig and one I’ll never forget!
Bands that had 2 different lead singers (besides Van Halen) that he can't think of: Black Sabbath Savatage AC/DC Deep Purple Nightwish Alice in Chains Arch Enemy Queensryche Fates Warning Redemption Symphony X Iced Earth Anthrax Dream Theater Judas Priest Iron Maiden
In my opinion, I guess some of these are totally different situations - Symphony X and Dream Theater for example, they switched singers like way before they had a huge fanbase. But some are good examples, like Nightwish.
It's always strange to hear them dissing the 2009 album when it was actually not only pretty damn good, but also the best performance in Howard's career, easily, the most intence and probably the most honest album. It reminds me of "Dirt" by Alice in Chains - one of the most raw and honest records in rock music. You could feel the nerve and depression Howard was going throug on their 2009 record and that's what makes this album so damb memorable and striking.
Of their catalogue, I personally don’t rank it very high but I still like the album. I can’t even pinpoint what it is that makes me prefer the other albums, it just felt less punchy and the songs didn’t feel as memorable as others. They get like songs that I wouldn’t really go back to listen to as often but that might just be subjective.
I was at "FEQ Slipknot's concert" on last monday (July 8th) 2019. Howard and Jesse sang together on one song; amazing how Jesse reached low clean notes! I got excited by Adam guitar play style and talent, with a speech by Jesse encouraging amateur musicians (like me) to keep playing.. There I am trying to learn Take this oath on the guitar, someday I will play a KSE song haha! KSE represent Quebec
Another great Adam quote: "They can call us whatever the hell they want they can call us Assholes if they want" :D I was cracking up at that, such drole humour we need to start writing these down.
One of my favourite phrases is ’opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one but not everyone wants to hear yours’ hearing Adam talk about arseholes reminded me of that.
He got sent home for 2 nights for vacation 😂😂 in all seriousness though I've only known arms of sorrow nearly my whole life and I heard Always for the first time last week and I'm suddenly obsessed with Killswitch Engage now lol 💕
Damn this is a surprisingly good interviewer. He's just relaxed and asked really good questions. How is it that he's on an independent channel and that awkward ass Graham Hartman is on loudwire?
Adam and Mike both are now on record pretty much saying they don’t like that album at all. It’s kinda crazy but I feel like the reason is more of the behind the scenes turmoil going on at the time.
That's so cool! Me and Adam have the same opinion about the 2009 self titled album I felt like it was just forced and wasn't there greatest material, sure there were some good songs but they could have done better like the other albums he produced
@Ewolf5150 same here had to listen to it over time for me to really get into it cuz the first time hearing it was like "damn this is kind of unusual sound for them" especially after daylights dies I believe
Nearly a year later and there are cell phone videos peppering the internet over the last week or so of Howard singing End of Heartache in Clevelend. If you haven't watched it yet, go for it. The crowd was extremely into it and they all looked like they were having a blast. I've always preferred Jesse over Howard from a lyrical standpoint but I still respect the Hell out of Howard and the albums he did with KsE. Those albums helped me through some dark times in my life so I will always be thankful for that. \- - /_
My number one question for Adam. How many circles can you run before you're too dizzy to play? Question two, how the hell do you have that much energy at the end of a set? Much respect
Yeah AC/DC was THE first band to come to mind. Much more than anyone else. Me and my friends always said these guys done an AC/DC and are the only guys to do it successfully like them
@Joseph Aspey: Iron Maiden shouldn’t count. When Paul Di’Anno was in the band they weren’t that successful; and in the 90s the weren’t that successful when Blaze Bailey was in the band. They only play clubs when both were in the band. Bruce is the only successful singer they’ve had.
Adam indeed is a guitar and more so a creative riff writing god! I don't know that I consider Killswitch 'metalcore' ...I'm kinda inline with just a metal band! Great conversation here, though!
Laughing..., the album Adam doesn’t like, and it’s my favorite! I know HJ was going through some stuff at the time, and maybe it was hard to put together, but the songs are awesome!
As Daylight Dies is still my favorite. Just brutal and beautiful.
I second that
Same
I gotta say as a guitarist myself and I love playing some Killswitch Engaged I really like playing the guitar break down during the song "End Of Heartache "..such a killer breakdown and fun as hell to play on guitar
Break the Silence still gets me. Amazing
He's a genius. Guitarist/drums/singer/producer. He KNOWS music
Adam D is such a cool dude and amazing producer. I'll always support his work
Thanks for watching!
Daniel Seale he’s a metal God can sing, scream, play every instrument and produces. He is metal.

Adam works out at my gym.. He's totally cool in person.
Doug Cronkhite cool story bruh
That's cool! thanks for watching!

San Diego right?

KSE selftitled 2009 was a good album tho.
I wish we can hear "Save Me" sometimes
Me too! thanks for watching!
Last time I saw them, like 2 years ago, they played The Reckoning. That's still one of my favorite Killswitch songs.
For real. I love that album. The Return gives me goosebumps still to this day.
Starting over is top notch
@@rickcaikauskas6277 thats awesome. Wish we can hear more songs of this album
Ur the luckiest human being on earth to interview him. And great question with the self titled album!!!!
Lol it was an awesome experience and I am very grateful. Thanks for commenting and watching!
Props on this interview. Genuine fan to musician connection and excitement. I think Adam really enjoyed this interview as well.
yeah it felt so natural.. one of the best interviews i've watched loved every second of it
Love KSE!! Just wish I had found them sooner. First heard them 5 years ago at the ripe young age of 53 and have seen them live now twice and they absolutely bring it!! Will never miss a show of theirs anywhere within 6 hours of me!

I prefer KSE with Howard. Although Jessie has definitely improved his singing and screaming since coming back so I cant complain too much.
