      Summer 2022 I lost my voice a week before a big show i was doing for work, i was the only singer on that show. My voice went back just in time but I've been sick almost all summer and since I didn't have enough rest, I've sang every show being sick and coughing.. It was really hard but I had no choice! 😭 I'm sad i couldn't show my voice at it's best i felt like i wasn't good enough for all summer. Only the last show i wasn't ill anymore thanks to resting and was able to show what I'm made of!

      I didn't regret it. But I was hoarse and had a rehearsal. What remedies would you recommend to keep the throat clear? How can you be contacted?

    Singing when sick (not like in the cases mentioned though) has sometimes helped me discover techniques to not push. Cause when you push, you feel it more 😅

    After a long bout of upper respiratory illness that effected my voice and breathing I'd say to definitely be careful with your voice and make sure your abdomen is in good shape to support it to keep you from straining. I'm hearing improvement, but it's taking years. I wouldn't wish this on anyone who wants to sing again.

    Just before going into the holidays, I had some sort of illness that seemed to settle in my lungs. I wasn't hoarse, I didn't have a sore throat, but I didn't have enough air to sustain. I had hardly any resonance in my chest, this went on for almost 4 months and I had about 4 performances I had to sing at. I was completely reliant on a microphone.

    Why is it that I can sing really high notes when I am hoarse and have trouble talking, better than I can my normal range when my throat is fine? Of coarse, now I know I shouldn’t sing at all then. Thanks for the info.

      Maybe the swelling helps you get better cord closure? Regardless, don’t do it. See my playlist on Singing High Notes.

    What happens if you have a concert that day? For vocalists on the tour it's really hard.

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  5 месяцев назад +3

      Yes, that’s tough and is a judgement call. If you choose to sing, that’s when your resonance will be your best friend. If you will be singing with a mic, make sure to use it to your advantage. Good technique instead of dangerous pushing the voice.

    Shalom I disagree
    you are a Dr of voice and singing lol
    your the best! Yahuah bless!
    Thank you for all your help! oh I am not a dr but a holistic Dr online says a pinch of Cayanne pepper in some distilled water every hour or so till it knocks that out. What do you think about drinks and things like dairy affecting the voice?
    Shalom!

      This should not happen. I recommend that you see an ENT doctor, preferably a laryngologist, to examine your vocal folds. Better to be safe!
