This is the best version by far that I have ever heard!!! You will find that their Christmas covers are upgrades and will refresh and give a new life to any Christmas song that you have heard, especially if it is a song that you are tired of or don't like. Keep the PTX coming! It is so nice to watch your reactions, they are genuine and you can see that you are genuinely enjoying their music.
If it was Silent Night you were thinking of, it is a song from Germany written by Joseph Mohr with music by Franz Gruber in 1818. It was to debut on Christmas Eve at their church but the church organ stopped working, so Gruber played using a guitar which gave it an intimate, contemplative feel that has continued to this day.
The original poem for "O Holy Night" is based on IS in French, "Cantique de Noël", and the original French poem, the musical setting and the English version are all from the mid-19th century. This PTX version has been updated with some 21st century touches, so maybe that's why it doesn't sound familiar, even though they are sticking to the original melody and English text. PTX did do a simpler, more traditional version on their first Christmas recording, 2012's PTXMas EP.
Oh, silent night. There is a wonderfull rendition from PTX. It is an older one but worth to listen to. They allways change a christmas song to an unmatched experience. After the first listen I was very disappointed. But I gave this version a second and third chance. And today this version is my absolute favorite rendition.
I’ve heard this version over a hundred times and I get chills every time!! It’s just the best! I can’t remember if you’ve done the live Vevo Kiss From a Rose, but it is equally epic. Amazing Grace and The Prayer are also both spiritual spectacular experiences whether you are religious or not. I HIGHLY recommend them. This was definitely not “silent night” 😜- the passion and the power behind it are fitting anyway and evoke another aspect of holiness. 💜

I think they are the top of the capacity to sing, like I said in other video, you should watched the singoff, because they were between 18 and 22, Micth, Scott and Kirstin were 18 fresh out of high School, they started there and even they were good they way they are singing now is another lovel
Mitch was the only one still in high school. Scott and Kirstie had just finished up their first year of college. Scott would turn 20 in September while Kirstie and Mitch would not turn 20 until the next year.
I have no way of knowing what song was in your head, Saeed, but you did say that you believed it came from a French poem, so I think this may be the one you were thinking of after all. This carol was originally French. Silent Night was originally German. Most performances of O Holy NIght are less dramatic than this one, so perhaps that's what threw you off. And when I call this performance "dramatic," I'm not saying it's bad or insincere; if anything, Matt's segment, especially, is surely one of the most heartfelt renditions I've ever heard. Most of us don't have the vocal power, the skill, or the courage to sing it this way! But I love every moment of it. Thank you--and thank you for letting us see a little of your background, Saeed.

Pentatonix first published "O Holy Night" in 2012, on their first Christmas album, "PTXmas." Have you noticed that Pentatonix has published a LOT of Christmas albums? Well, so has Pentatonix. More specifically, Pentatonix has noticed that they're running out of Christmas songs they haven't already done, but it's hard to break with tradition; they don't want to stop publishing Christmas albums. What to do, what to do? 🤔 Okay, obviously it was time to write some more Christmas songs. So Kirstin and Kevin came up with "Please, Santa, Please." Good. One down, how many more to go? THIRTY? Oh dear. Well, obviously that isn't a complete solution. Time for a Google search. "Songs that talk about snow." Great! Let's add "Kiss From a Rose." Now we're down to twenty-nine. Drat! Okay, you know what guys? We're just going to have to make it a compilation album this year. We can call it "Greatest Christmas Hits." So that's what they did. But when it came to "O Holy Night" they realized that they could do it a lot better now than they did in 2012, especially since they can make use of Matt's incredible range, so they re-recorded it. Good idea; this is one of three songs from this album that I think may get Grammy nominations next year. 🤞

Since you have an appreciation for former PTX-er Avi Kaplan, here's his version of "O Holy Night" s performed in Houston at the end of his 2022 tour. This was the first time after leaving PTX that Avi had performed a Christmas song - for a couple of reasons - he was burned out on doing them year in and year out for the PTX Christmas albums, and he's Jewish. He put together this arrangement on the fly as a thank you to the fans in the 3 Texas cities - Dallas, Houston & Austin - as he'd had to postpone their concerts earlier in the tour, due to a family emergency. This was his special gift to those 3 cities and he did it as his final encore, with a special Texas twist. I'm not sure of any other ones except Carol of The Bells which is Ukrainian in origin....and PTX also has done that one...beautifully, I might add ,and you should check out sometime. This is so very powerful and gives everyone a chance to shine. I'm not sure how they'll top this...but I'm confident that by next Christmas we'll be wow'd again but more epic Christmas pieces.

This is one of my least favorite songs by them. I don't like the way they put it together. I have listened to it a couple of of times, and it is just not for me. I couldn't even watch the whole thing tonight. I am going to let it play through on silent because I don't know if it would hurt your channel somehow if I just closed it. I totally understand that. We all have our preferences. And i love that you thought about how it would affect my channel, that really means the world to me. Just the thought of your support for me.
