It’s been so refreshing to revisit this theme in my drawings. Figures and mental health has become my primary subject matter, but in my earlier works I was a lot more focused on animals. It’s felt good to return to them again.

I wonder if you realise just how much there is to learn from watching you draw, even speeded up. Every time I watch one of your videos I find myself pausing it and going to my drawing and trying out the way you use the graphite, the pencils, the erasers, the order in which you use them. There's one moment about two thirds of the way through when you're standing staring at the drawing, absentmindedly working the kneadable eraser... that's me, that's what I do, and many others I'm sure. It's a special point of contact that says a lot about the way you work.

You keep challenging yourself with new textures. That black smoke probably tested your patience. But after you got it down I bet you were able to roll with it a little more and be more fluid instead of constantly relying on your reference material. Cool drawing Jono
