You love it and cant even spell it ? Lol. Mini vette, they called them and it couldnt pull a sick whore out of bed, It ranks with the DKV , Nsu, Cv2, as a pile of shit.
@@redbarchetta8782 In Germany, you could ask for a spicier version using the right codes in the order, kind of like RPO in GM USA of that time. But this car was modified to to group 4 specs
@@sarahwebster8927 they came the same year and from the same company like most Ford andGM cars did back then. The european marked wanted smaller cars for their tighter roads & citys while the americans had cheap gas and miles of straight highways
Never liked the front flares on these Conrero type Opels...but in this colour they actually don't destroy the original fender shape that much. Fantastic car!
This car need's modern Opel turbo engine right nowww. I would love to see a restomod version of this car cause it's gorgeous but need a little more power. I get the cool carbureted sound but it lacks a little more go.
Over in UK we fit the opel c20xe engine and c20let engine gives them from 180bhp to 500bhp depending on engine spec. At the vboa show one year a gt turned up with a jaguar v12 engine fitted. That sounded nice.
I would say it's more probable that the carbs aren't fully balanced or the idle mixture isn't tuned very carefully (uneven mixture on some cylinders) or maybe there is a small intake leak. That combined with the big cam can make for a nasty idle. Low compression is usually audible on overrun too. Most probably nothing that would make any difference in performance tho.
Sound of the exhaust notes are great even at low revs, but, it gives away the problem of slow, bad hear changes by the driver. Sounds as though he has had a stroke or something.!
theres one sitting in a near by junkyard. guy wants a couple hundred for it. its a cool car but i own a 98 trans am and that is small to ride in. the opel was like a corvette but for dwarfs. i wanted a opel then i seen the size and i was like eh.. no. im sure that it would fly with a 5.3 or 6.0 LS engine in it. def tub that thing out get some 17s on it or some thicker tires in the rear. the only bad thing about these old cool muscle and sport cars were they all had little 12 inch rim donut tires. makes it look silly. but then again im use to all these new cars with big fat tires for better grip.
Rambling... Have your views matured over the past few years, or not? Opels did not have 12" rims, but 13s came in a lot more tire sizes back then, as did wheels. I have 15" Enkei rims on my GT that look great. The bare bones basics of these old cars is part of their charm. No electronics, screens, traction control, etc., just you and the machine.
Probably the best looking Opel ever.
thanks😊
Kinda looks like a mini Ferrari!
Best engine sound quality on RUclips. God, I love that little Opal!

That's Opel, the European arm of General Motors as I recall
Certainly not the stock engine.

It was my dream car back in '68.
I love the Opel GT
Ein wunderschönes Auto!!!
Love the sound
What very pretty cars they are. You can tell it's an Opel from the rear, but the front looks very mini-Corvette.
saas
The design comes from the corvette ^^
Nein
doch tut es.

Badass little car right there...
The poor man's Corvette probably worth more than fully original than a actual Corvette of that year. Very nice car 👌👍
Opel GT pre-dates Corvette of similar shape...so more accurately Corvette is a big Opel GT.

Not today
do you record all this by yourself or with a group of friends?
All by myself
what is that blue car at 2:27?
Renault Alpine A110
Sounds like it has low compression on one cylinder.
how do you hear that?
MonGnoM The uneven, rumbly idle. It's misfiring, but evens out as revs (and cylinder pressure) goes up.

I had an Opel Manta back in the 70s with a Steinmetz engine, quite pathetic and unrealible.
Bet you wish you had it now if you had the genuine crossflow engine. Worth a fortune.
Along with about a dozen other cars from that era.Still, i suppose we all have The Degree from the University of Hindsight.
Ain't nothing a lil VTECH can't fix.
