Hey Matthew, it will be coming soon now that we got some nice weather finally. So far the trans has been really good and I am pretty happy with it so far.
I cracked my bell housing and the adapter plate and I don’t know if I need a new pump gasket and bell housing gasket or not for when I tear it apart. I don’t plan on dropping the trans completely. Hopefully just enough to get access to get the bell housing and the pump off. Never torn into an Allison this far before. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED
Hey man, if you can id probably plan on taking it completely out. It will make your life a lot easier getting that stuff off. When you get that bell housing off just pull the stator and pump assembly out and look it over real good. it isnt hard you will be fine .
@@jordancampbell3723 that's weird because I've always been told to check clearances dry due to the fractions will swell once wet. But maybe their instructions are set the way they suggest to do it.
@@jordancampbell3723 I've built many other gm transmissions but wanting to pull my lbz's allison and rebuild it. Maybe look to replace some hard parts to hold 750hp or so. Not looking for a race truck just one to hold decent power. Eventually thinking about compounds for the towing aspect with lower egt's
Yeah ive heard so many different scenarios on checking tolerances its ridiculous haha so i just followed what Suncoast said to do. For your sake you probably dont need any hard parts like you said just some good clutches and a shift kit and a pump shim would set you up nice for what you wanna do
@@jordancampbell3723 what all special tools did you need for the allison? I already have the atsg manual and think there's maybe like 3 tools I may need that I dont currently have
Hey man, did yours come with instructions?? I called suncoast and they told me they dont come with instructions lol! Did u set up your clearances to what the allison manual says or what Suncoast says?
Mine did come with suncoast directions but i was confused looking at the allison manual vs their directions. Called suncoast and the guy i said just follow allison tolerances. Then you see other guys that run slightly different tolerances than the allison manual. Its a shit show😂when in doubt though follow the allison manual specs and tolerances
@@jordancampbell3723 it sure is a shitshow, I dont understand why they all keep it super secret... if they know the best setups for clearances just sell us the stuff to get there.
I dont get it either dude. Even getting ahold of someone if you have a question is a nightmare. I know all the tolerances were close to what the allison book said except C1. Most guys seem to run C1 at like .095
@@seanbradshaw8478 it has been good man. need to take it out to do a couple small pressure mods that i need because they werent included with my kit at the time i did it.
Hey Kevin, if you are referring to the tail housing cover yes you can replace that without tearing it all apart. You should be able to leave the trans in the truck even for that.
Amazing how you understand this
It wasnt easy and i got stuck a lot of times thats for sure haha
I'm thinking about going this route. What stall did you go with?
Hey, looking for the follow up video with test drive and thoughts on the Suncoast Upgrades? Thanks

Were your clearances supposed to be with tge fractions dry or after soaking?
This kit had me soak them all for awhile then put them in and check the clearances wet
