I was 20 years old then, and now 30 years later I'm going to see them yet again in a couple of weeks, this time with my daughter, now 19. I can't tell you what this band has meant to me since 1992. I'm not too well at the moment and every precious moment I have with both of them is well spent. If she experiences a fraction of the thrill of seeing Suede for the first time like I did, then not one of my minutes of being a fan, not one effort of any of the band in all its troubles and resolutions will have been in vain. To me anyway. Hats off. Love x
I got my dad to drive me down from newcastle for this gig . Went on my own , got befriended by some girls in the bar nearby , bought a light purple "suede" tshirt at the gig and got right in the throng at the front ... it was bloody hot !
Now THAT's how you rip through a live set. Pure energy, fans on their feet jumping around, no crazy light set up, just blood, sweat, and rock and roll. Shame this incarnation couldn't stay together longer.
This is maybe the best example of what it was like to see Suede in that debut album tour period. Saw them twice on first US tour and this show, why not pro shot or audio, captures them at that point magnificently. Thanks so much for posting this. What a force they were in an absolutely horrible period for music. Suede was the plunging cardiac adrenaline needle of the 90's.
"in an absolutely horrible period for music?" 1993 was an incredible time for music. From 92-96, the UK was overflowing with great bands - adding to that the grunge/rock scene from the US and the mental dance scene in the UK, it was a great time to go to college!
I was there. A short sharp shock of crunchy glittering pop. Rare to see the future and know it within minutes. Has only happened three times in my career. The fact that I had flown in from NYC the previous day and was doing without any sleep in 36 hours by the on-stage might have helped break on through my doors of perception. Only disappointment was the mediocre Chinese food from earlier in the night.
Would've loved to see them then, on the cusp of greatness. I got to see them in Singapore in '98, but that was the Coming Up era, post-Bernard Butler Suede. Still enjoyable, but what I missed out on the Suede/Dog Man Star years...
Yes, they did! Oddly enough it was right when I said, c'mon Brett, take your shirt off! Right on cue they ripped the shirt right off him. Can you blame em?

BB is an absolute beast, love his energy. Still miss him in 2020. 😥
Totally agree.
My favourite guitarist ever. He was just incredible.
Peerless. He was a one-man orchestra on that guitar.

I was there. It was fantastic!
Brilliant raw energy of the original suede at their very very best..❤
Suede: untouchable in 1993, straight out the gate - killer singles, tons of hype, stellar live show - perfect! 👌
Im so in love with Suede1🥰😍
So awesome to see Bernard Butler playing. I was at the Toronto show.
I can't believe this is on RUclips. I remember this band blowing my 17 year old mind at this gig.
melodyline of guitar amazing fantastic
Fantastic gig
I love Suede as always... since 1993

I think so too. They were just on fire at the time. Saw them the 1st 2 US tours.

Brett wonderful !
Oh yeah, this is going to be awesome!!!!!
This is insanely good...
20:55 "stop taking me over..."

To start a gig with MM… can't get better than this! A full set of unparalleled Power Glam!
This is a wonderful gift! I Loved the Leadmill Show! Thanks a lot for posting! ❤
Bernard butler is a living legend my favourite band to this day but they where another level with butler fucking mint.

Hands down the best live performance of Animal Lover...Evahhh !

What a gig! ;)
Possibly the best band I've ever seen live (after Smashing Pumpkins). The 1975 are as close as this generation will get to Suede.
Well put I couldn’t agree more. I am 49 years old and love the 1975 but I am having trouble getting anyone my age into them.
1975 r shite. Please dun categorise them with Suede
Amazing! Can't wait!
love BB !
Suede were never better than this. Bernard Butler's genius.
The whole band were brilliant but this line up IS Suede.
Vicious!
Looking forward to this! 🎼
What a set list!!!
Super Brett !
Thank you, Suede. I fucking love you

BOSS GIG, LOVING THE FEEDBACK FROM BERNARDS GUITAR.
I went to this gig. We queued from about 2pm. This gig ruined me. Saw them in Glasgow two months ago. The magic came flooding back 😁
this looks so fucking cool.....how i wish i was there ahhhh
❣
Bliblical essa banda mano

That perforence of Sleeping Pills is sick.
AGREED 100%
Almost forgot what a masterpiece My Insatiable One is
Why why did l Bernard left suede again? Such an amazing band no comparison what so ever
I had to look for the second time, did the crowd rip Brett's shirt off???
Yes, they did! Oddly enough it was right when I said, c'mon Brett, take your shirt off! Right on cue they ripped the shirt right off him. Can you blame em?
He only had on a net curtain bless him 😂
i really really really wanna be there if i have a time machine
Sounds like an early Genesis concert at the start xx
Or the beginning of Marillion's 'Brave' album, nice to see another prog fan who appreciates Suede 👍
Brett's live vocals are even better than the 2 Gods.. Ferry and Bowie.
Not one person’s Kinzie score stay the same that evening
*Phoenix 1995
WASN'T MORRISSEY IN ATTENDENCE AT THIS GIG ?
When you throw something away, it could be a coin. But when you find it, that's when you know how to flip it.
