On my kayak I clipped my net on front of kayak where I can grab it easily and quick. I don’t like turning around while I’m reeling in a fish. Nice video and kayak!
I'm using the Boondox landing gear mount to hold the downriggers. I have a stainless plate welded to a 1" keyed stainless tube that slides into the mount and holds is level.
Hi Josh. it's been a while since I spooled these reels. Here's what I think I have on them. My main line is a power pro. I think I have 25 LB on the reel which is more than needed and I would put on a smaller line next time. I have a 40' -60' mono topshot that I think is 30 lbs but might be 40. I like using the topshot for a few reasons. First even though I'm using a line counter reel, I can clip in at the end of the topshot an know exactly how much line I'm trailing. Second you wouldn't feel it using a motor, but on a kayak using your own power you'd be surprised how much drag the line creates being dragged through the water. The smaller diameter power pro line to the clip reduces a lot of drag over using all mono. Lastly and probably most important, is the larger diameter of the 30 or 40 LB mono topshot clips more securely into the Scotty lake troller clips. Even at that I still pop the line out of the clips on occasion. For my leader I use a 40 lb Floro. The stiffness of the heavier line puts more action into the lure behind the dodger. I've tried a few rod holders and found for my set up the Scotty's work the best.
Doug Shoup omg thanks I ordered the rod reel downrgger new line for the downrigger cannon ball rod holder hrail mounts exact fish finder. I just did not know what line to get! This helps a lot!!! I’m can’t wait till everything comes in! What state are you in?
Doug Shoup I’m in vail Colorado;) I just watched a video on top shot what knot do you use you did you use the loop kit? Thanks again I got the Daiwa Lexa 400 line counter. I was worried I would not have enough line.

That’s a lot of gear on that kayak that you are working... I thought my PA14 was loaded!
Have fun Sir, and keep those rods bent! It’s addictive 👍🏼
this is hilarious. You have got to work out some procedures and maneuvers. But hey you land fish, best of luck.
Just watched a recent video! Wow congrats on the weight loss man! and Awesome catching!
Nice catches! Where did you launched from? Heading there for 1st coming up. Thank you
I prefer to launch out of Shannon Creek, Swift Creek and Panorama Point are other good options
Are you using a Texas rigged plastic?
No, using a pink Hoochie.
Are you new at this?
Hello there I like your setup. I was wondering how you have your downrigger mounted ? I’m looking to get one and yours look very secure to the kayak .

I like this style of fishin The only sorta drawback is when u do hook up with 2 riggers a lot of the fighting is behind you 🤔
What kind of line do you use and lb thanks those are Scotty rod holders?
