It’s awesome ! I added fish sauce to marinade of carrots & daikon and 3 diced bird eye chilies. Toasted sesame seeds& crispy shallots as well. The dressing is subtle with a zing of heat from the chilies.
Traditional would also have a dash of fish sauce and fresh Thai Chili. Looks awesome mate! Mirin to replace the sugar is also a great modification. The Thai version also has thinly sliced celery. Very very common in Thai and Vietnamese salads.
Ive made this quite a few times already and just make whatever protein Im up for, tonight it's bún cha, the meatballs, and a side of spring rolls. thanks for the recipe
4 spoons of sugar wtf. Before seeing this, I regarded vietnamese salads as very healthy :D
Sugar isn't inherently bad for you, its bad in excess. But yeah a lot of vietnamese sauces have a ton of sugar.
You could always modify and use less sugar, to taste. Could also sub in alternative sweeteners, all or in part.
thanks J. Thats starter for next diner party sorted! Looks great.
Perfect timing does it start to get warm over here in the US
Hope it goes down well! - Lee
Are you guys reading my mind? I'm sitting here wishing I had a big bowl of Bun Bo Noung.
Yes, we are reading your mind! - Lee
Hi Jeremy, I have been cooking and learned so many dishes of yours! That improved my cooking skills so much. Thanks you ! Could you maybe suggest me a good book on stir fries?Thats just in case my wifi is not working of course :) Best wishes from Germany
Excellent stuff, glad you enjoy the content we make! Jeremy actually has two books out which you can find on Amazon or buy directly from our website here: bit.ly/2HH2eSp - Lee
Love it. Can you also please make philippino pancit?
Thanks! I'll add that to our suggestions list! - Lee
Looks good to me. ☺
Thanks! - Lee
Without the chili 😮
Have u done a Tea smoked chicken video and if not could u please I have seen a small number of them on line but none that have the same almost cooked lobster colour and with small amounts of sugar stuck to each pieces , like the 1 I get down my local, that I am totally hooked on. Im sure they will soon be charging me rent as I'm in there so often lol . Cheers x
I'll add it to our suggestions, Amanda! - Lee
@@SchoolofWok Thank u Lee 🥢🥡
I could eat that whole bowl
Very easily done! - Lee
No fish sauce?
That's what I was wondering as well. Not much, but just a little would have been a nice addition. Oh well, it's Jeremy's recipe.
I eaten those salads in vietnamese restaurants always made with fish sauce.
@@brokenspine66 .... I'm not surprised!
We left out the fish sauce and used light soy instead so we could feed one of the vegans in our crew! - Lee
@@SchoolofWok ...... Very good of you to reply Lee, but if I may be blunt, I would suggest that the vegan eat a vegan salad elsewhere : perhaps at a McCafe. It is somewhat ludicrous when a vocal minority hold sway, and we, your channels subscribers, see Jeremy prepare a dish in a non-authentic manner. I hope this vegan finds alternative employment, lest we see a tofu based pork substitute used in a future recipe ( I am being serious, but I am also laughing a bit ).
Can anyone offer a solution to the FARTY SMELL of DAIKON ? I love this vegetable , ignores that smell but can never offer it to company.
I discovered KOHLRABI instead as a substitute. 😊
Good vid Jeremy, however we need you to get your wok out next week buddy.
Thanks! We'll be back on the wok after next weeks video haha - Lee
My lastest obsession lol
Looks yummy 🙂
Thanks!
What is that knife you use?? It is so sharp.
It's one of our School of Wok cleavers!
Great no chilli I can't eat it and lately everything has chilli people have forgotten how to season food without chilli, thank you
A lot of Asian food will have chilli in it, but if you can't eat it you can usually leave it out - Lee
You lost me at 4 tablespoons of sugar.
@debbie. I added only 1 tablespoon of sugar. It was plenty. Adjust to your taste.
Can anyone tell me the Vietnamese name of this salad?
There typically some meat like grilled pork or something so the name for that dish would be Bun Thit Nuong, Thit Nuong meaning grilled meat. Typically Vietnamese noodle salads like that can be made with a variety of noodles, vegetables, and ingredients. The thing that truly brings it all together is the sauce.
Hi Jeremy, I'm a fan of Vietnamese cuisine. It is so good for my liver! I'm glad that you don't use MSG.
I need to see an old vietnamese lady that barely van speak English make it then I know legit.
add grilled meat or seafood on top and replace your soy sauce with fish sauce and it'll be perfect.
We had to keep it vegan to feed one of our crew! - Lee
@@SchoolofWok Admiration!
Jesus, how much sugar, you may as well eat a sponge cake.
i know right OMFG lol
I'm vietnamese and that don't looks right.
Disliking because of the sugar...Might as well dig my grave being a diabetic..But overall that much sugar is in no way healthy irrespective of your health and taste..
The sugar is used for the pickling liquid, you can just find a different recipe for the liquid that uses less/no sugar and still follow the recipe - Lee
@@SchoolofWok Thank you for the reply..Apologise if came across as being rude..I just hate sugar in heaps..Would a rock salt olive oil and lime/apple cider vinegar combo liquid do?
Parang lasing mg salita c kuya...
You go to fast for a newbe chief to follow
If You add a BIG juicy Steak with it , You would have a hit.
That would be a great addition! - Lee
You talk too much...do it already
