@Mitt Romney XIIIV *Funk was INVENTED BY ALLEN TOUSSAINT & JAMES BROWN* . George Clinton himself has talked about New Orleans influence (Listen "Get out my life woman" wrote by Toussaint, Professor Longhair, The Meters..) and, of course, The Godfather Brown add to the heavy accent of hit n#1 of the bar also the 'chicken scratch strum' by rhythm guitar to the stew. *Funk depends of play 16th notes in the syncopation..that comes from JAZZ* and cuban styles; not from Doo Wop or conventional R&B.

@@BeeBwakka One more time. George Clinton, Gene Boykins, Herbie Jenkins, Glenn Carlos, Charles Davis. After Motown rejected them because, they were too ugly. Plus they were different sizes. The Temptations were All tall like 6 ft. When the 1st Parliaments auditioned for Motown, they sounded like The Temptations and The Contours- mixed together.
