Aak is a very young, but supposedly brilliant, back alley doctor, with a somewhat questionable moral compass.
You're totally accurate about the featured character being playful. In fact, Aak is infamous amongst his peers as an insuferable prankster and has very loose morals, which is not a quality you would want in a doctor like Aak.

We knew it as Faner Shadows prior to it being released in global as we were working with a translation of the song's original name. As of now it is officially Neon-lit Bustle though

oh, it's a theme from Aak a underworld doctor( a very talented doc at it but a litle bit eccentric. There's a *spoiler* reason why he have to work as a underworld doctor) , he's have a err... very "unique" personality. It's a case where if you need a partner in crime to do some shady thing, he would be a right call

Ironically enough, Aak's character is the complete opposite of the theme of this EP of his. He's young, brash, has a twisted look in valuing life, and often troublesome yet always been masked by the belief of, "he's still young." Not a good look if your whole ordeal is medicine.

Should you have some time, I recommend checking out Irene's theme "Rapier", which is also an instrumental piece. Irene is an orpahan raised by the Inquisitors to protect people from Seaborn, the same threat the Abyssal Hunters fight against.
I really like that you pick songs that not necessarily very popular but ones that you find interesting. Even though this songs is not my personal favorite it is still very welcome and i'm happy that you given Arknights some attention.
You were very close about your description of Aak, he is a jokester with a poor attitude that is even apparent in his work, but he is not a hacker, in fact he is a back alley doctor, an excellent one said to have unrivaled in Rhodes Island and is infamous for creating untested medical drugs lol
And yes I am a big fan of Arknights's lore, music, and character design.
aak is alil freaky wierdo who is or was an undergound doctor until he met Hung and joined Lees decetiv agency. His skill in game, is meme material for the comunity, as he inflickts a big buff on allies, but the catch is only if they survive his atack.
I don’t play the game, but it has fantastic music. Operation Pyrite is my personal favorite.
Aak is one of my favorite operators, he's so hilarious to use. Also best sniper and debuffer, with his new module able to heal himself as long as there is enough enemies in range

The music style is Chinese not Japanese. The instruments used are dizi guzheng pipa suona. It was released during cny for a Yan (pseudo China in arknights) event/character.

Isn’t Arknights that Cyberpunk animal girl game? I remember seeing ads for it when it first came out and just seeing animal women. A great breakdown of the music as usual, keep it up Marco! 😁
Please ignore literally all of the ads lmao, they're terrible, Yostar (AK global publisher) is pretty infamous for very... odd advertising lol.
If you look at Marcos other AK breakdowns there should be a bit of an idea there. Some of it can be Cyberpunk-ish, but the world pretty much encapsulates every region and every genre. For example, going to the global timeline we go from Germany -> Nepal -> Australia -> China -> England across a very short pan of time.

apologies for the totally unrelated comment but I think you should really take a listen to one of genshin’s new OSTs. The official channel has now released them, going under the titles “glory and decay” and “whisper of domus aurea” which belong to Cantus Aeternus Disc 2. They are completely orchestral and drowned in emotion.
I know you said you’re taking a break from the game itself and that’s completely fine, I should add this happens to play in a new world quest. a lot of people including myself think this is one of their most magical yet, especially in comparison with the recent time and the direction they’ve been taking, though I must admit the visuals that go along with it do add a lot to the experience (especially as Genshin introduces a new way to make the music delivery feel intertwined even moreso with the player’s perspective, or put simply, more interactive). Regardless, I think the music is more than capable of standing on its own and just revitalises my love for the team making these tracks, and I think you’ll find it heartwarming too!!
