  • Yeah ! Cooler weather ! Now I'm in the mood for Fall Stitching and Decorating... but, that does not mean putting traditional "Samplers" on hold ! Get a cup and hopefully enjoy my ramblings thru my Fall Finishes, Works in Progress Updates and of course my "Fix'in to Stitch" Kitted projects.

    Love you and Professor Saltbox’s interactions. You both make me smile and chuckle. My cell phone let me down and didn’t tell me your flosstube was posted. On the bright side when I sat down to watch flosstubes this Sunday my tablet gave me the wonderful surprise that you had a new flosstube waiting for me to view! Enjoy our get togethers. Love your work. So happy to hear that you’re going to frame a couple yourself. I just finished my last three that I have frames for yesterday and got them up on the wall. I’m ever so happy I found Kitten Stitchers video teaching us how to do the framing. Never did I ever think I’d be framing my own stitching. Now I can enjoy them up on my walls. Hope the Professor is enjoying his birthday family party today. It’s nice his birthday is being celebrated more than just one day.

    • @saltboxstitcher
      @saltboxstitcher  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks. Soooo I have a question since you do your own framing. I ordered 3 frames from Hob Lob. I took my pieces and let them measure as I was planning to lace them myself. And after getting them, I realized they are too small. So my question is … what measurement do you give them when you order a frame, the opening size or the total size (foam core size)? Obviously this was their error because they measured but I’m curious because I would like to order some online and I want to get it right. Hope that makes sense. This is confusing to me as the lip on the inside can vary right?

    • @maryellenmcinnis7693
      @maryellenmcinnis7693 11 месяцев назад

      @@saltboxstitcher the lingo framing uses is a learning curve just like anything I guess. I had such trouble with trying to figure out what in the world dimensions I needed I wrote to the company. The short of it is that the demensions you use is what you want to see. For instance if your stitching area of the sampler is 10x10 inches, because I like it framed tight, I order an 11x11 inch frame. I just add an extra inch so I have a half inch of linen on all sides of the sampler. So figure out how tight you want your sampler in the frame. I keep my math easy. Hubs likes it less right and on one order I added an inch and a half extra and the math broke my brain because I was working with 8th of inches on my sampler. Finding half of 8ths was just too much for me and since I'm doing the framing I decided he's just going to have to live with a tighter framed piece. I use Custom Frames Solutions (thinking that's the name as I'm not home to check.) I was worried about picking out frames I couldn't see in person but have been pleasantly surprised with all most all the 17 frames I've ordered. They usually come in better than I hoped. Oh, try to hit their sales. I try to hold out for the 40% off! Hope that helps.

    • @maryellenmcinnis7693
      @maryellenmcinnis7693 11 месяцев назад

      Reread your note. Order the opening size you want. The company I order from takes into consideration whatever that lip is. It's the opening size they need.

      @@maryellenmcinnis7693 thank you so much. I took the wrong ones back to Hob Lob this morning and they handled it well. Reordered and no extra charge since the new frames are larger. I appreciate you taking the time to help me with the lingo. Thanks again.

    Husbands need to understand the ABC’s. Anniversary, Birthday and Christmas when they go shopping in our favorite stores. All we need to remember is Anniversary and Birthday cards. We have cooled off here in the high desert. Chains require over Mt Rose last night. Sunny days and in the 30’s at night. They took down the sign watch for bears and the wild mustangs should start coming through the neighborhood any time. Great finishes and I’m about the same spot in Jack’s Bash as you. 😊

    Happy Birthday to Mr. Saltbox 🎉 I always enjoy your videos so much. I was in Louisburg Kansas recently shopping at the “Louisburg Market Street”. I was in the process of buying a antique JP Coats thread case when I asked for some help from the nice lady that worked their when she told me that she was going to by it for her step mother & asked me if I’ve heard of “The Saltbox Stitcher” on RUclips? I said you mean Carol. She said yes. Hi said yes I Love her floss tubes! She said oh wow you’re the first person that I’ve asked that too that knows who & what I’m talking about. She said that’s my step mother she’s married to my dad. So we chatted awhile & it was really super great to connect with someone close by that not only knows you but is related!!! Kind of a small world. I also wanted to say I would Love to stitch Ira Ray & Ida May sometime but it seems doubtful I will as I don’t have those charts & haven’t been able to find them anywhere yet! Thanks for another great video!!!❤😊

I keep getting Raven Bewitched by BBD out and putting it back because it looks dull, but now that you have shown the threads, I am going to get it back out, buy the dmc threads and give it a start. I too have "the disease". I can remember when I used to buy a kit, stitch it to the end and then start something new. How the heck did we do it. I need to HAVE and STITCH all the things!!!I just can't stitch fast enough and I am of an age that I will never stitch everything I want to...I am 70...oh and I still work full-time! I just have to say this … LOL … just before you were lamenting about your hair, I had just said to myself “Oh, I just love Carol’s hair!” Just saying! LOL! I so look forward to your videos!

      Oh thank you! That’s too funny. I think we are all too critical of ourselves!!! Oh well, better that than to be critical of others. 😜

    Thanks for great video and stitching - I finished sampler September and now I am doing red October ( in honor of foliage in the north and changing of the leaves at this time ) I am on to only red samplers this month - have a great time with your group in Gainesville - Victorian rose is a great shop

    Love your channel. I recently came back to stitching after a 27 year pause (when my daughter was born). Someone told me be about Floss Tube. When I accessed it for the first time, yours came up. Samplers are and will always be my passion to stitch. I watched some of your first videos and was so excited to hear you talk about The Salt Box Sampler (Overland Park, KS?) and Old Mill Stitchery (Liberty, MO). I shopped there many times (late 1980’s/early 90’s) being from Missouri (live in NC now). Keep doing what you do…so inspiring!

    As always a lovely visit. Can’t wait to be getting back to my stitching once the radiation level done a bit more. Your pieces are beautiful. Love your quilt in the background too. Blessings and happy stitching.

    Hello from NC Carol…thank you and happy birthday to Mr. Saltbox! Have to tell you it has been so nice “visiting” with you…just what I needed. Your fall pieces are just gorgeous…I have a few of the same patterns finished. I love Blackbird and Brenda Gervais too. Always fun Carol…thank you so much.

    When my mom passed I realized she was a hoarder of the plastic that went of your dry cleaning. Not only did I find it on her clothes I found several neatly stacked in every drawer. Then in the back recesses of one closet there was a pile of this plastic. It was crazy. She had everything wrapped nicely in plastic. I never knew this about my mother.

      We all have our quirky things we collect. My mom used the old butter containers for leftovers. So it was a real challenge to find the actual butter. Lol❤️

    Your videos are always entertaining, Carol, but today you were hilarious. You and your husband are a hoot. I am so impressed that he evidently is in the room while you're recording and it doesn't distract you. I'm also impressed, of course, with your stitching. Love it - love your optimism! Thanks for the video.

    Hi Carol. Another fun time with you and the professor. Happy belated birthday to him. Everything was beautiful the stitchings and your fall decor. I know all your "High Hopes " for your WIPs will come true. I have tremendous faith in you and your talents. The only trouble is, just not enough hours in the day. You are one busy gal. Quilting and stitching, I'm sure you never sit a moment and just twiddle your thumbs so to speak. Thankyou for all the hard work it takes for you and the professor to get these videos ready to air. It is much appreciated !! Until next time, ❤ ya!!, and hope that one day our paths will meet, Donna

    Jane Atkinson is absolutely stunning! I enjoyed the parade of finishes, pumpkins, and projects to do. Your assistant did a nice job handing you items and taking the hand offs without a hitch!
