I owned a 911 turbo but dropped back down to standard Porsche. You reach triple digits too fast with the Turbo. More fun to drive a slower car fast vs a faster car slow.
@@landonbarretto4933 I was with my buddy when he picked up his new turbo. 8 miles from the dealership we got pulled over at 130 in a 65. Amazingly we got out of it with “I literally just bought it. Have you seen this thing”
When I was shopping for a 997.2 or 991.1, I wondered why anyone who was buying new, would 'settle' for the base model. I thought my 911 would HAVE to be at least an S model to be interesting. Then I happened to notice performance figures for a base model 991.2 were better than for a 991.1 in S trim. And the bonus is that purchase prices on the preowned market could be less for the newer 'base' model. I wonder if insurance and state registration fees might even be lower. For those who are inclined to add aftermarket exhaust systems and/or ECU Tune, the base model offers more headroom for very affordable performance gains. This is only my second Porsche 911 but I've come to appreciate the substantial performance value the base model offers. Just 1 thing... must have upgraded wheels. Don't settle for the base wheels.

I like your approach to reviewing this car. As a driver that will drive it in everyday situations realistically. By that I mean...having a lot of the available tech and the ability of the soon to be released 2022 GT3 is for most pointless. 99 percent of 911's will not be pushed. Owners won't have the skill or know how. And the cars will spend their lives in stop and go traffic. So while 911's are considered the best handling sports cars...only performance most will enjoy is straight line 0 to 60 MPH performance. Safely. Or maybe more honestly the Carrera S is the "most 911" any one needs. Honestly. Too bad its not available with a naturally aspirated engine. I heard the 2022 GT3 will have a self parking feature. One that would allow the driver to step out of his car, press a button on the fOB or smartphone app...and the car will park itself. Perpendicular and parallel. Didn't the base Carrera have this feature?

Give me both pls but if you only give me one the 911
Same. I own a base cayman and it’s so much better
Watching this car spin out uncontrollably and having to pay $100,000 is ridiculous. I would take a model 3 performance which runs a second and a half faster to 60 and will not spend a tire and put all the power in the ground and handle just as well on the track.
Anyone buying a Tesla over a car with an engine, especially something like a Porsche, lacks something the rest of us probably won’t be able to explain. Who ever looks at a Tesla and gets goosebumps at the thought and anticipation of driving it?
Don't listen to these Bozo the clowns. You have to go up to the S so you can get 3 pedals.
2 pedals= Broken
3 pedals=Perfection
Pay more to have a slower car?
@@TheSteinbitt pay more for a more engaging and fun car
The absolute question is - do you have one?
The internet is full of opinions, the only worthwhile ones are from those who put their hands (or their company’s hands) deep into their pockets and buy one!
@@PhilbyFavourites Yes, I have a Cayman S manual
sooo boring as all porsche
The 911 will always be one of the ugliest sports cars ever made... for that alone I would pick the F-type
Lovely review
Great review.
