Biz, you have to listen to "Can't You Hear Me Knocking". It's like between Wild Horses and Gimme Shelter. Killer riff to start then mid way killer saxophone. Smooth guitar. It's off the Sticky Fingers Album.
The Rolling Stones "Fool To Cry",, "Miss You",, "Monkey Man",, "Paint It Black",, "Tumbling Dice",, "She's A Rainbow",, "Ruby Tuesday" & "Get Off My Cloud"
The Stones are the most difficult band to assess because of their vast songbook. “Beast of Burden” is one of their greatest grooves, so I’d definitely recommend that one.
This is from my generation...imagine hearing this from the Stones (who rarely did ballads) back then. Instant love and satisfaction. I am a singer, and couldn't sing a Stones song properly - until this one. Great melody, great arrangement.
"Wild Horses" anchors The Rolling Stones 1971 album, Sticky Fingers, which ranks high among the best rock records ever made -- "Brown Sugar", "Sway", "Wild Horses", "Can't You Hear Me Knocking", "You Gotta Move", "Bitch", "I Got the Blues", "Sister Morphine", "Dead Flowers", "Moonlight Mile" -- classic! The album shown on the track you pulled up, Hot Rocks 1964-1971, is a double record compilation album full of their greatest hits. I bought that album back when I was a teenager. In the old days, record company executives often released compilations to get a double dip out of artist's catalogs. And consumers liked them because it meant buying one record from an artist instead of two or three or more over time. Another great compilation from them was called Made in the Shade. I bought that one too back in the day and played the hell out of it as well. When I got older and had more disposable income, I bought Sticky Fingers on CD -- and played the hell out of it too! [grin]
I was about to say I bought that one just for 'I Don't Know Why', a Stevie Wonder cover with a stinging slide lead, but that may have been 'Metamorphosis'. Yep, it was the latter. oops ;>D
Odd fun fact: Jim Dickinson, house band musician for the Muscle Shoals Studio where this was recorded, had to play the piano because Ian Stewart, who was the unofficial Rolling Stone who played all their keyboard parts over several decades, disliked playing so many minor chords in one song.
It’s true. Jim Dickinson is the answer to that trivia question. Duane Allman was around too. Jagger starts the third line, first verse of “Brown Sugar” which they also recoded at the same time at Muscle Shoals, with “Skydog…”
The Stones are a great band with a deep catalog. Their run of albums starting with Beggars Banquet (last album with Brian Jones), Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile on Main Street, Goats Head Soup and It's Only Rock and Roll was awesome. These were primarily the Mick Taylor years. Ron Wood replaced Mick Taylor right after It's Only Rock and Roll was finished.
The Stones have done rock, blues, reggae, disco...you name it. Just keep going with all of it! For another ballad I always liked, try "Worried About You" from the Tattoo You" album. Mick Jagger on point with his falsetto, and a nice guitar solo from Ron Wood. I'd recommend the album "Exile On Main Street" (1972) for a track-by-track album review. And as others have said, don't miss "Can't You hear Me Knocking". Starts with some hard riffing but has a surprise in store for the uninitiated ;)
Great reaction. This song makes me cry some times. Reminds me of a fried who died very young. Last thing I said to her was something about this song. Dude, did you check out Miss You? You gotta do that one. Yet another side of the Stones. The funky disco vibe in that is sick.
Same here, his reaction made me cry. Apparently Keith wrote this for his wife Anita at the time. Of course they were heavily into their addiction. What a beautiful song to remember your friend.
Yes, I consider this a ballad. A tender story of a love that has run its course and had now ended, although affection remains. He speaks of living after the passion is gone. It is rumored that Jagger wrote this about his former girlfriend Maryann Faithful.
The Stones were really the only true pop chart competition vs Beatles in the 1960’s…but they scared parents, which made the girls want them more. Jagger is The GOAT rock band front man. Keith is The GOAT guitarist
Another great reaction, and I’ve been watching a lot of them. The Stones have such a big catalog to explore. As they got into the 1990’s the whole albums weren’t as good, but there are still great tracks to be found. But hey, there’s a long road to travel just during their more classic era. You are the Biz!
Legend has it that Keith Richards’ buddy Gram Parsons wrote or co-wrote this song. They’ve always denied it, but it’s Parsons’ style, they were playing together a lot then, and Jagger and Richards, who have always been stingy with writing credits and money in general, allowed Parsons, with his band The Flying Burrito Brothers, to record and release the song a full year before the Stones did, which sounds like some kind of compromise deal. I’ve also seen the last line of this as “Let’s do some living after love dies.”
Great reactions! You’ve mentioned a few times on the versatility of the stones. They have approximately 450 songs in their catalog, most written by jagger and richards. They’ve covered most genres at one time. Try listening to what I consider their handful of pure country songs. Try Dead Flowers. Great lyrics and a great song.
"Can't You Hear Me Knocking" and "Time Waits For No One" should be on your list of RS songs to play. They have a HUGE discography; been a fan since 1964.
I always thought that the song meant that the man had cheated on his girlfriend and she retaliated by doing the same. He doesn't want to leave her, but their relationship will never be the same because "faith has been broken." Listen to the lyrics and it makes sense.
Another great reaction! Here a few Stones songs you might consider; Sweet Virginia, Dead flowers , Spider to the Fly, Shattered, She’s so Cold, just to name a few.
Yes, brother. How on Earth did this slip my mind a couple days ago when I was making recommendations to somebody? Played it for years myself. No need to hide tears now, no-one else around. Absolute musical heaven, whatever the mindsets of the people involved.
You never cease to amaze me Bro!!! Your Knowledge of music and breaking down these great classic rock songs! It is people like you that will keep the greatest music ever created alive for future generations. Todays youth would never listen to classic rock stations and would be oblivious to this great music without people like you keeping the music alive! THANK YOU BRO!!!!
🎸💯 "Wild Horses" is one of the Stones best‼🔥 I love the tempo, vibe & Mick's voice on this incredible joint‼The Stones ROCK‼☮ ❤ 🎶 "Beast of Burden", "Emotional Rescue" & "Shattered" are GREAT and I REALLY hope you'll get around to these jewels VERY SOON‼Thanks BizMatik‼
Terrific reviews.... The 3 essential Stone songs for me....Gimme Shelter, HonkyTonk Women (arguably most recognized opening riff & lyric in R & R..."I met a gin-soaked barroom Queen in Memphis....", & Loving Cup (Exile on Main Street- their masterpiece)
Love the stones…. You need to watch “muscle shoals” it’s a documentary about the area I’m from and all the music made it a small town in Alabama. This song was recorded there !
I read somewhere Keith wrote the first three verses, mick the rest. At that time Mick was doing a movie with Keith’s girlfriend. Keith stole that girl from Eric Clapton so he was afraid mick might take her. The tension between these two guys was immense. Mick sang about how he made her cry, now she is making him feel the pain, they were hurting each other. Now they don’t have enough time together.
Break up song, but he’s not letting go. He can’t let her slide through his hands. No matter how she disrespects him or ignores him, he doesn’t feel bitter toward her. He’s playin the fool and hopes he can be with her after they’re gone from this world. That’s just my 2 cents worth. The Stones are truly great, raw, and wonderful, funky, sleazy, and gentle sometimes, but always good! Love all your other reaction videos, too. So much good music from the mid 50’s until now, and even further back when you dive into the original blues artists of the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Love you’re lyrical analysis! It gives a new perspective. I think that the important meaning is the listeners interpretation. Some songs are literal and mean what they mean, but others have lyrics that are more abstract. Wild Horses has both and it’s been fun decoding it with you. Much love from Austin, Tejas
This Song and Moonlight mile will be played at my funeral.A great song that most people haven't heard is India Girl 😊beautiful stones song about a civil war 😢
What a great song, thanks for playing it, maybe when he said after we died he ment there love affair and the same horses that couldn’t pull him away, in his mind he took them by the raines and overcame his hardship and moved on, do u see where I’m going with this, thanks again!
For a rock effort from this group, try Gimme Shelter, which was also the title of an epic film that chronicled the Altamont Concert where Hell's Angels provided security. Concert ended when a man was killed (stabbed to death) near the stage. Stones were rushed out of the outdoor concert. Movie ended with Stones exiting in a helicopter, the crowd below in chaos. Btw, a member of Jefferson Airplane was knocked out by Hells angels earlier in the concert. Grateful Dead refused to go on stage because of the bad security situation. It didn't stop Stones from going on stage but maybe they wished they hadn't. Woodstock organizers were determined not to have an Altamont repeat and they succeeded in that goal a year later with the Woodstock concert. Woodstock was largely peaceful.
Actually, they both took place in 1969. Woodstock was first, in August of 1969, and Altamont was later that year, in December of 1969. In fact, Altamont was loosely referred to by some as Woodstock West. 🤔
Now that you have heard this original version of Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones, it would be a crime if you do not hear the cover by Susan Boyle. It is a MUST HEAR cover which Susan literally steals from the Stones to make all her own!
I love the Stones although some are offended they decided to stop playing "Brown Sugar". Our teenager has a kitten that's around 8 months old; yesterday this song came on my Pandora and he got on top of my phone and looked up at me like "Don't you turn this" lol. He didn't care about the Floyd song that was on previously, so I thought it was super cute. If you haven't, you should check out Talking Heads "This Must Be Place". I hope everyone is doing great. -Amber
Whilst Mick n Maryanne faithfull we’re here in Oz filming the movie Ned Kelly Maryanne overdosed and after she came from her “ coma” said to mick “ “wild horses couldn’t tear us apart , at the time in Oz the Levi’s jeans tv advert thier motto “ wid horses can’t tear them apart “ I’ve heard gram parsons wrote much of micks idea thus he recorded this song before the Stones .
Seems to me that he cheated on her and now she has paid him back. “Faith has been broken” but he knows he had it coming and he forgives her and realizes how much they love each other, thus “Wild horses couldn’t drag me away” to me the line “Let’s do some living after we die” they’re going to carry on and do better after they basically destroyed each other. I’m like John Snow, I know nothing but that’s my take. I always loved this song. It’s always awesome when one of these badass rock bands break it down with an epic ballad.
Nice reaction, try Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker), Sweet Virginia, Fingerprint File or Jigsaw Puzzle. The suggestions below are all good, Jagger/Richards have written many great songs ❤
You like guitars, so look up Nashville tuning. Mick Taylor uses it and Keith plays the fills I believe....and Sway is their best song, imo. (The 2nd song on this album, Sticky Fingers. Should have been the album opener. Especially with the count in).
I'm sooo glad you're listening to the Stones. Mick is so soulful when he wants to be . I'd like you to check out ,Cage The Elephant, he sings like a Jr Mick Jagger. Pick any of their songs, their acoustic versions are good. They have a 3 song in one video , acoustic,no drums ,3 guitars.Hes just like Mick Jagger in concert they run up and down the stage the whole time, crazy energy. The lead singer probably sings better ,Mick plays a lot while he sings. Appreciate you, Brenda
Too beautiful 💔.....Sister Morphine, Shattered, Let's Spend the Night Together Oh, and Hey! Keith Richards solo work! (Stones guitar player and co-writer with Mick Jagger): *No Mistake 👀, Locked Away, You Don't Move Me* (that last one was written about Mich Jagger ;), all from his 1st album.
Keith Richards and Mick Jaggers vocal harmonies are the most underrated aspect of the Stones.
Biz, you have to listen to "Can't You Hear Me Knocking". It's like between Wild Horses and Gimme Shelter. Killer riff to start then mid way killer saxophone. Smooth guitar. It's off the Sticky Fingers Album.
Agree with you 100%. One of their best,
You should see, Jayy Show, reaction..... big baby
The Rolling Stones "Fool To Cry",, "Miss You",, "Monkey Man",, "Paint It Black",, "Tumbling Dice",, "She's A Rainbow",, "Ruby Tuesday" & "Get Off My Cloud"
Wild Horses has always been a favorite. Also love Waiting On a Friend. You'll never run into a bad Stones song, just some you enjoy more than others.
The Stones are the most difficult band to assess because of their vast songbook. “Beast of Burden” is one of their greatest grooves, so I’d definitely recommend that one.

Watching you listening to this song made me cry! I didn’t appreciate the Stones and this beautiful song until very recently. Love this reaction!
Thanks for listening
Me too , and i have been listening to the Stones from day one.
The whole album "Hot Rocks 1964 - 1971" is fantastic.
I could so educate on The Stones. They are truly the world's greatest Rock Band
The Stones are definitely among the upper echelon of rock groups
Has been one of my all time favorite groups since '64 to today
No one has been even close to their longevity and great rock
For 6 decades
Odd fun fact: Jim Dickinson, house band musician for the Muscle Shoals Studio where this was recorded, had to play the piano because Ian Stewart, who was the unofficial Rolling Stone who played all their keyboard parts over several decades, disliked playing so many minor chords in one song.
Didn't know that fun fact...thanks for that!
That Muscle Shoals Documentary is something to watch. So many talented artists and musicians making such sweet music together.
Jim's also the father of Luther & Cody, North Mississippi All-stars.
It’s true. Jim Dickinson is the answer to that trivia question. Duane Allman was around too. Jagger starts the third line, first verse of “Brown Sugar” which they also recoded at the same time at Muscle Shoals, with “Skydog…”
One of many great songs by The Rolling Stones!

You have to hear Under My Thumb next Stones tune please!💞✌
The Stones have done rock, blues, reggae, disco...you name it. Just keep going with all of it!

And as others have said, don't miss "Can't You hear Me Knocking". Starts with some hard riffing but has a surprise in store for the uninitiated ;)
One of the top songs ever! The Stones were/are musical geniuses, how hey could arrange and write so many masterpieces is beyond comprehension.
Great reaction. This song makes me cry some times. Reminds me of a fried who died very young. Last thing I said to her was something about this song.
Dude, did you check out Miss You? You gotta do that one. Yet another side of the Stones. The funky disco vibe in that is sick.
It seems like they have so many hits, might do a full catalog review
Same here, his reaction made me cry. Apparently Keith wrote this for his wife Anita at the time. Of course they were heavily into their addiction. What a beautiful song to remember your friend.
Another great reaction, thanks for taking the time.
You are welcome
Yes, I consider this a ballad. A tender story of a love that has run its course and had now ended, although affection remains. He speaks of living after the passion is gone. It is rumored that Jagger wrote this about his former girlfriend Maryann Faithful.

Jagger is The GOAT rock band front man.

Often called the " greatest rock and roll band in the world".
Beautiful ballad. About his breakup with Angie Bowie.
Deep catalog. Dig in.
Another great reaction, and I’ve been watching a lot of them. The Stones have such a big catalog to explore. As they got into the 1990’s the whole albums weren’t as good, but there are still great tracks to be found. But hey, there’s a long road to travel just during their more classic era. You are the Biz!
It's okay to cry man! LOL this one pulls on the strings
SHE SMILED SWEETLY-ROLLING STONES ^67
From His Solo Career,, Mick Jagger "Hard Woman" (Special Version) - 1985..A MUST HEAR & Great Lyrics.
The group The Sundays did a beautiful cover of this song. Harriet Wheeler who is the lead singer has a beautiful voice.
Hot Rocks I'd say is the best Stones compilation in existence. It was hard to find for a while.
Interesting. I was thinking it sounded so much like a Gram Parsons tune. Maybe Biz will look into the Burrito Brothers some time :)
@@J_Gamble Or The Byrds -- "Hickory Wind" for example.
Gram Parsons denied it.
Parsons did not write this song. Keith wrote most of it in the bathroom at Muscle Shoals.
Great reactions! You’ve mentioned a few times on the versatility of the stones. They have approximately 450 songs in their catalog, most written by jagger and richards. Damn good song, glad you found it.
Another great reaction! Here a few Stones songs you might consider; Sweet Virginia, Dead flowers , Spider to the Fly, Shattered, She’s so Cold, just to name a few.
I like the way you shake it. Stones. So good.

“Ruby Tuesday” and “She’s A Rainbow” are great Rolling Stones songs. Very hippie vibes 😎✌🏼👵🏼
Written by Gram Parsons and performed by his band The Flying Burrito Brothers. Gram's version will tear your heart out

Love the stones…. You need to watch “muscle shoals” it’s a documentary about the area I’m from and all the music made it a small town in Alabama. This song was recorded there !
I love this song. I was just playing it three days ago.

If you like this one then you will like Angie, Ruby Tuesday, Sister Morphine, Waiting on a Friend
This Song and Moonlight mile will be played at my funeral.A great song that most people haven't heard is India Girl 😊beautiful stones song about a civil war 😢
Yes, I think you’re correct about a ballad
Monkey Man next please! 🙏

I agree you need to listen to Can’t You Hear Me Knocking! You’ll love it.
Biz, we gotta get our hands on a Hot Tube Time Machine and go back in time to when all this great music came out and party hearty my friend🥂🍷👍
🙌🏿🙌🏿😂
Biz, check out "Bitch" by the Stones. The ballads are nice, this song is the Stones signature sound.
Yep! Massive horns plus a killer guitar solo!
Great song, definitely one of their best in my opinion. I think "Mother's Little Helper" is a severely underrated classic from The Rolling Stones.
I like this song too.
Midnight Mile and Brown Sugar!
Now that you have heard this original version of Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones, it would be a crime if you do not hear the cover by Susan Boyle. It is a MUST HEAR cover which Susan literally steals from the Stones to make all her own!
'Play With Fire' 1
'Dead Flowers' 1a
-2¢
Ruby Tuesday is another banger!
On the album the next song is Can't You Hear me Knocking. It's the banger of bangers.
Best writer ever!
Just for something interesting…. Listen to the Guns N’ Roses instrumental intro to this.
Dead flowers is another great one.
Also, Paint it black, an early one.
Shine a light, sweet Virginia, torn and frayed
Heck, the entire Exile on Mainstreet album
Biz, try Memory Motel or Can't you hear me knocking.
Let it Bleed is another great one ✌️
I love the Stones although some are offended they decided to stop playing "Brown Sugar". Our teenager has a kitten that's around 8 months old; yesterday this song came on my Pandora and he got on top of my phone and looked up at me like "Don't you turn this" lol. He didn't care about the Floyd song that was on previously, so I thought it was super cute. If you haven't, you should check out Talking Heads "This Must Be Place". Another stellar one. Of course. But Gimme shelter and Heartbreaker are musts. And I love to watch your reactions for these songs.
What's next?
"Can't You Hear Me Knocking"....
The album this comes from is a stone cold classic, Biz.
STICKY FINGERS. Full album review?
Good idea, tho he's already done a couple songs from it.
@@SK-lk3iu Only the two. There's plenty of unheard gold left though.
You're ready! Time for Exile.
YEAH!!
What's next?? "Doo doo doo.....Heartbreaker", from Goats Head
Soup.
Heavy song, with a message.
Can’t always get what you want ( my theme song ) waiting on a friend , start me up
Yooooo you kind of sound like
Wyclef Jean of the Fudgees.😯😲😎
Where is your friend gone BizMatic?, just that I notice he's been missing lately on some of these Stones reactions🕺🎶🎵🎸🥁🙏💎👌🔥☘️🇮🇪
Sister Morphine and Dead Flowers
But not a ballad, it's considered a "love" song
Nice reaction, try Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker), Sweet Virginia, Fingerprint File or Jigsaw Puzzle. The suggestions below are all good, Jagger/Richards have written many great songs ❤
Now you have to do "Sister Morphine "
You like guitars, so look up Nashville tuning. Mick Taylor uses it and Keith plays the fills I believe....and Sway is their best song, imo. (The 2nd song on this album, Sticky Fingers. Should have been the album opener. Especially with the count in).
Not fade away (extended version one of the stones early hits 👌
Can't You Hear Me Knocking & Ruby Tuesday, next please

Biz, if you haven’t listened to it yet, you have to hit up “Gimme Shelter” the all time quintessential Stones song!
I did thag one
Too beautiful 💔.....Sister Morphine, Shattered, Let's Spend the Night Together
Oh, and Hey! Keith Richards solo work! (Stones guitar player and co-writer with Mick Jagger):
*No Mistake 👀, Locked Away, You Don't Move Me* (that last one was written about Mich Jagger ;), all from his 1st album.
Samantha Fish does an amazing cover of this
Heartbreaker
Do sister morphine next, great song !
Star star or heartbreaker
I’m sure you’ll enjoy
I can't think of a single bad Stones song 🤔. Incredible considering how long they've been going.
Go into their Sixties songs. 19th Nervous Breakdown, Ruby Tuesday or Jumping Jack Flash next, please!
