Master of piano sonata, master of string quartet, master of symphony, master of true music: this is LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN
I am proud to count the first violinist, Kristin Lee, as a friend of our family. She played in our house when she was just a little child, and already then it was clear that she had an astounding talent.
There is nothing more beautiful than a beautiful woman playing a cello beautifully. And those shoes!
Same , with clarinet !
In the past year I've listened Beethoven "Harp Quartet" for over a thousand times at least with about 40 different versions. I've been trying hard to search and find the best or the most favorite performance. Here is my final personal rating:
#1: Alumni of Perlman Music Program
#2: Borodin Quartet
#3: Cavaleri Quartet
#4: Budapest Quartet
You deserve the number one. You are so young but so mature. You are nearly perfect in this live performance despite the following tiny flaws: (1) between 8'35" to 8'38", about 1 second speedy, but the following counterpoint section is super; (2) the 2nd variation of the 4th movement is excellent but expected better. This easy tech part is hard to express well I understand.
Thank you!!
That's an irresistible performance. The 1st violinist is really really good.
Thank you so much Kristin Lee, Miki-Sophia, Caitlin, and Jia for such virtuosity on your instruments, mastering at such young age the complexity of our beloved Beethoven's "Harp," especially the Adagio and the Presto!
Such skill, such playfulness (especially Miki-Sophia's), such love shown on you four for the masterpiece! Our beloved weirdo would have been on his knees kissing your hands had he been in the Performance Space 185 years after his death.
Beethoven didn´t kneel for nobody ever..
..and he was no weirdo but a bloody genius, there is a difference you know..
Well-articulated and perfectly synchronized performance of this lively masterpiece.
Stimulating and exciting performance of challenging and exhilarating music. Thank you.
Exceptional playing, very sensitive and intimate, powerful sound!
Among the best performances I've ever heard of this work. Kudos all around!
Love the cello playing in the last movement.
Absolutely a great performance, the best on RUclips !!
Everyone is excellent, especially the first violin.
I will write more later definitely.
So moved. Thank you!
Enjoyable from start to finish! thanks...
Masterful performance...
I just the communicating looks from these artists... great!!
Bravo!
sehr gut !!
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent!
OMG, you guys are totally AWESOME !!!!!
I am going to order the sheet music.
Wow! What did I tell you? Didn't I tell you to expect a treat to top ten Tootsie Rolls! And now didn't I deliver! Just like I promised: delicately splendid nascently robust nuances lavishly pollinating the tinctures of fantastically feckless symphonic melodramas otherwise squirming under burp-like blasts of abbreviated scales like the tones of twelve fish as mean as the staccato equivalent of that broken ten-gallon hat you wouldn't wear to church like I told you to.
top notch incredible can't say enough
It is so wonderful to revisit/re-listen to these Quartets with the added dimension of witnessing the performance. Thank you! ps I have a crush on that second Violinist too
She's married..
Jonathan T Darn!
Jonathan T Wait a minute, it occurs to me that the ring the Lovely Fiddler, the White-armed Goddess of the Flashing Eyes and Blushing Cheek, is wearing upon her slender and expert finger is not, in fact, a wedding ring at all but rather a friendship ring or, and this I believe must be the most likely of possibilities: it is just a kind of 'decoy ring' that beautiful and talented women sometimes feel compelled to wear - in order to ward off the unwanted and bothersome attention that comes from certain men like...me, for instance.
One can always hope :)
There is no such thing as a second violinist. In a quartet, both violinists are first violinists. They just play different parts. It is the other first violinist that is the object of the guy's crush. Two of the great other first violinists were Alexander Schneider and, best of all, John Dalley.
8:35 magic just happened
This is the so-called "the harps" quartet, because of the pizzicati of the first movement. Althoufh classified in the 'second' period, I perosnnally find some forecats of the 'third period, epecually the 12th quartet in the same tonality. These classifications must not be considered as barriers, they are permeable.
Wonderful!
Is this Beethoven's best? And tell me who has played it better?
that's just perfect...
What skill!
Amazing performance. But the camera editing drives me mad, the cameras are everywhere but the instrument with the theme or the full quartet in the big moments.
Is there a thing about some of Beethoven's music that is so beautiful it's almost painful.
I think this is one of them.
you are so true...... the 2nd mvt is sublimely beautiful.....perfectly played here!
"Aumenta o som que isso aí é BEETHOVEN!"
awesome
Good intonation
Good Viola Player
My God.
Agree. It seems that the cameraman doesn't know the work. "Wrong" persons are focused, I mean the solist who is playing the most important theme often is not focused. Example: The beautiful Viola solo in the 2. variation in the finale satz: The viola player is only sporadically focused. The accompaning players are more focused.
Regardless of this small annoyance the performance is outstanding. The best I've heard (and seen!) of this quartet.
Lars Morland It seems to me, that the cameraman not only doesen't know the work, but has no understanding of music at all. Unfortunately, as far as i have seen it is the same in the whole Beethoven series. The four young women would be worthy for a better presentation.
1:22 Is that a tennis racket?
really sensitive playing

Kamera!!!...
They could keep better time…
