2 years in a Prius. That’s fucking mad nomad skills. Keep living that free life!
Thanks for the compliment, but I'm still a lightweight lol. I know people who've been living in a car for 10 or 15 years! Crazy, but true 👍
Watch your language.
@@MLynn05lol. 😂😂😂 this is 2024 are you serious?
Thank you for recommending something that wasn't a $1000
Bro is so enamored with things that I had to turn the sound down in a half.
I'm thrilled.
Going to live 24/7 in an RV, will definitely purchase items from this video. Thanks!!!
Great video
I have the tri-fold mattress. I put it on my cot when I am camping/glamping. This is a total winner like you say. Have slept 5 nights and no back pain when I get up. Now my husband wants on. Well worth the money 😊. Thanks for sharing. I really feel good that I purchased something you spoke about.
Thank you so much!!!
@@rina4real You're very welcome!
Good ideas... I would add mesh window covers and a battery powered fan !!! Stuck inside a car at 90-100F with bugs on a rain storm... you will enjoy these items!!!!
Thank you. In California losing my home. Have a Very old Jeep liberty but I'm looking to live in it. Scary trying to find what ill need. Very helpful.
@kimpurvis410 First, take a deep breath. Losing a home is scary, and I can't imagine being in that situation. However...
Be comforted by the fact that it's not a life or death situation. Also, and this is key, as long as you have a vehicle, you will never truly be homeless.
One can live VERY comfortably in a vehicle. So much so that you'd be surprised. There will be certain adjustments you must make (especially mentally), but you'll always have a roof over your head along with privacy.
Watch my other videos and visit my blog. Everything is explained. In the beginning, just worry about making a comfortable bed...that is the most important thing. After that, you'll just need some storage containers to keep your stuff, and if you have a few extra bucks, a cooler to keep your food fresh in. Everything else will come in time.
Make a plan and stick to it. Then take action. A great adventure awaits you. One which you might wonder why you didn't do sooner 😉
Thanks Joe! Good product suggestions 😎🇨🇦
nice tips!

Wow!! I’m going to be living in my car soon, so I’ve been watching a lot of different videos to get ideas of what to do and things I’ll need. Your video is by far the best video that I have watched!! Thanks for sharing what works for you!! You just got a new subscriber. Don’t take that lightly…I have not followed any of the others that I have watched. 💕

Love your videos. Thank you so much…
@@estelleparismd4670 That's very sweet of you to say. BIG thanks 😊
I’m new to your channel. Great products!
I’m not as experienced, but here’s my “finds”: That car tray always beeps my horn, so I need to try the hookover kind. - I love my tiny Windmaster backpacking stove using isobutane over my THREE others (lol) for making hot water for coffee/tea, among other things. It boils in two minutes, and I want coffee yesterday. I do understand that if I needed to stay inside, the DC water boiler would be needed. - I recently bought a roll of those clear produce bags. I’m enjoying the smalls bags that I can tie up more often. For example, my coffee stuff from the mornings. - To be continued and refined….
@mikam8801 As you've already found out, there isn't only ONE way to do things. This lifestyle is about experimentation and seeing what works for YOU. It sounds like you're well on your way, and I wish you the best 👍
Thanks for the comment...safe travels!
New subscriber here 👍🏻 I’m not even living out of my vehicle but I can’t imagine life without my power brick and steering wheel tray. I use them very regularly for modern life and for camping. I definitely see the application of the cup holder-extender. I am going to look into the trifold mattress and see if I can make that work. I’m heavier than you, therefore will probably need the 4“. ✌🏻
Worth every penny. I use my car camping and spare bed for grandchildren.
7:51 Jusstop steering wheel tray. Great tool . For my personal I use a stadium seat that fits my V wheel good enough. Not as lg space but I make do.
I like the products ☺
Thank you!
Hello, great video with lots of useful information. You are doing a great job. I have been doing a lot of research on starting my own channel. Try doing your video uploads on Monday, might get more views. Stay safe ❤
Thank you, Amber. I hope you get your channel started, I'll definitely support you! It's a lot of work, but it's also a lot of fun. I mainly do this to inspire people. I was down & out 3 years ago, with not many options. The blessing of vehicle dwelling was exactly what I needed to help me get back on solid footing.
I want people to know that there ARE options, even if one is strapped for cash or facing tough times.
I also want to take the stigma out of being a nomad. I don't consider myself homeless at all. I simply live in a very, very small "house" 😁
Great video! Subbed! 🤙
@@daveruoff6287 Thank you! Appreciate your coolness 🤟
Jackery 300 and a small solar panel. No dead car batteries.
Run my hot logic off it. Use a low watt kettle heats water in 1/3 time the 12 volt kettle did.
@passin-thru Sounds like a great setup 👍 Would you mind sharing what brand the tea kettle is that you mentioned? Other commenters might find it useful.
My Prius is basically a giant generator on wheels, so I myself have no need for a larger power station. But if I lived in any other type of car, I'd probably get a Jackery or EcoFlow.
Thanks for chiming in!
@@carcampingdude6406 prius has been known for years as the most efficient generator. Some folks even use them to backup power their houses.
I'm thankful the magical thin-brick found you Joe!

#2 4:06 12V water kettle insulated and made for efficiency. 1.5 cup capacity. 25 min. For my personal use this is way too slow , my personal use is propane insulated pot 16 oz boil 6-7 minutes.
Wow. . . for the life of me I don't know why you didn't shake everything more so it would be harder to examine them. lol
Yeah the shaking of the items made my eyes dizzy
I need to run a CPAP for the night, so an ECOFLOW is one of the items I am saving towards. The INIU ratings are amazing, 81% 5 star and even one of the few 1 star ratings was edited to say he changed his mind after his unit had been replaced. I will probably pick one up for myself and another this Christmas for my parents. Their electric drops about twice a month.
I was curious about your water warmer, I saw the vid wear you tested it, but was uncertain if you were truly happy or not. Have you considered just putting a couple of bottled waters on your windshield just to get them somewhat hot beyond "room temp" during this summer.
Tomorrow here in FL it is going to be in triple digits for heat.
Over the years, I've seen lots of really good vids from truckers on the RoadPro 12v portable stove. They also suggest using the aluminum trays (theirs are long and narrow and a tad deeper.) for easy use and clean up.
A buddy of mine uses a cup from Circle K that I swear can hold two liters. I will definitely mention that cup holder to him. I think it could hold that giant mug.
I currently sleep on a pretty expensive Japanese sleeping mat. Been doing so for about twelve years now. I think I can easily adapt it to the vehicle with no changes. I wouldn't suggest it for anyone else as it is quite expensive. But, It works for me. :P
I appreciate all your suggestions
We have a lot in common, Greg. I too have moderate to severe sleep apnea. Had the test last year. Bad snorer & sleeper. But I can't bring myself to wear a cpap. Too much of a hassle keeping it charged, dealing with the hose, etc. So I grin and bear it. Though, I might try a cpap if my sleeping worsens any further.
The RoadPro's are even better than the HotLogic's. However, the problem is that they require more power, and not all cars are equipped for them, as you can easily blow your 12V fuse. But they do get WAY hotter, and can actually cook foods instead of simply warming them. Not a fan of how bulky they are either. Makes it tougher to store in a car.
I absolutely love my water kettle! Some of the best money I ever spent.
Funny, I was researching Japanese mattresses last year, but decided on another tri-fold at the last minute. I heard the Japanese mattresses are AMAZING. And yes, pricey, too.
I appreciate your comment. If I make it down to Florida one day, maybe I can interview you and you can show off your home-on-wheels 👍
@@carcampingdude6406 Still living in my mobile home, but we just had a 40% increase and rumor is next year this time will be another 40% increase. I can manage this one, the next is beyond my means. I can't afford to move my home and would take LOTS of funds to make it mobile ready in the first place. So with help from my family, I have one year to prepare my life for the road. So I am watching and planning and trying to limit my spending to save up for the change of life. :P
I love the Ecoflow, I can keep every thing I have fully charged on mine(600w) for about 4-5 days.
@AmbersWanderings I was VERY close to buying an EcoFlow last year. I think it was the River series if I recall. I like that it can be fully recharged from a wall outlet in 1 hour! But I never pulled the trigger because my Prius is basically a generator on wheels, it can power my fridge and pretty much anything else. So, I got the small INIU instead, for the times when both of my 12V ports are in use, and I need to charge something badly.
let me get this straight you sacrifice taking apart a gas stove such as Jetboil which will heat water in about 2 min. over an electric water boiler which takes 25-30 minutes? How does altitude factor in this?
Thank you so much for your lovely encouragement. You are so kind to me and made me less stressed. I worry mostly because my car has broken windows and are duct taped up. So not the safest. Do you have a suggestion for protection? Ill take all your suggestions. Thank you.
@kimpurvis410 I highly recommend having your windows fixed/replaced before attempting to live in your vehicle.
The last thing you want to do is stick out in places where you'll be staying, both from workers and random passerby.
Having broken windows is also a safety hazard. Although the likelihood of being victimized on the road is small, broken windows can actually attract the wrong kind of attention.
Save as much as you can and get your car repaired and looking decent. It is well worth the investment if you'll be calling it home for a while.
I use my Hot Logic all the time. The steering wheel tray does not fit my steering wheel unfortunately.
@maryolson411 Unfortunately, as I mentioned in my video, the steering wheel trays don't always fit well. If you got it through Amazon they will definitely take it back 👍
And yes, HotLogic's are soooooo convenient!
One of the best car camping gear videos I've seen. Excellent content. Buying a 12v oven soon. Maybe more, video isn't done playing. Great and useful stuff. One suggestion, don't project so much. Feels like you're yelling at us.
@ronrampfel2197 I have a loud voice lol. Thanks for watching 👍
Joe, a late comment to this video you put up a month ago, but it just popped up for me here. I just want to say that your insights and suggestions make these essentials even more useful. So appreciate your generosity of spirit. Best wishes for your channel and you 🙏
@lauramanion3131 Thanks a bunch! Yes, the algorithm isn't the most friendly to smaller, newer channels such as mine. But I'm glad that you eventually saw it 😁
Greatly appreciated the kind words! 👌
9:52 12V Hit logic I have no experience with it. I have used 12V pizza oven on the trucking job a Michelina's 8oz tv dinner. I wanted smaller meals bc my road diet is ju healthier than home. I had a fridge I filled b4 leaving the south. Every inch space used.
does the mattress get hard in colder weather?
Super Thanks!
I love my Hotlogic too. (Not in 94° weather 😅).
I'm in search of a new mattress. You're the 2nd nomad who approves. I'm SOLD!
~ 🦋
@ukulelebutterfly Good luck with the mattress! I love mine, but wish I would've gotten a 4" or 5" instead of a 3" for the added support. You might want to consider that 😉
@@carcampingdude6406 Good to know . Thanks for the honesty. I currently have 6" of cloud. I would have put a memory foam topper on it.(still might)
Do you feel folds?
~ 🦋
They don't have my size. I have a narrow twin bed frame 30" that fits this Goldie Locks just fine. They have 25 & 31.
I like the kettle.
I don't mind 25 minutes to boil. This product is a great find! It only uses 80 watts!!! Most kettles are 1200+. I found a nice one using 300 watts which would not work in a front car charger. But, that's a rare find also. I have a Jackery 300.
What are you using for a fridge? I heard you mention a 12V fridge in your other video.
I appreciate recommendations from those who live it!
~ 🦋
@ukulelebutterfly Use whatever works best for YOU 👍 My videos are only meant to be a rough guide to provide general advice. Everyone should experiment to see what fits best for their unique situation. That's half the fun of this lifestyle 😊

Bro get a 9 in 1 ninja foodi
Roast some chicken 12 minutes
Bake some veggies 4 minutes
Pressure cook some rice 3 minutes
“All in the same pot”
Bonus if you cook the rice last, as the rice will soak in flavors of the chicken and veggies
Extra bonus because pressure cooking rice last cleans the pot of food making it easier to wash after you empty the rice into your plate of chicken and veggies.
Since the pot is made of ceramic instead of teflon you won’t get cancer. Spritz with white vinegar and water, let soak for a minute and wipe clean. No bacteria ready for the next meal.
They are USB A ports, not just USB ports.
USB has A, mini, micro, and C ports
Can you cook meat from raw in the Hot Logic?
I love it, "Don't argue" - hahaha 😅
Too loud. I had to lower the volume to 1/4.
We all needed to know that! So what?

Why does it take your water kettle 25 minutes to boil??!??
I have a similar one that looks exactly the same using 200watts and gets the water to 212 F* in 4-5 minutes.
Can't connect to any of the websites for the items you are showing. Now what?
You know what really grinds my gears? People who say "eckcetera"
Mean ass trolls that criticize others does the same to me!!

No need to yell!
No need to criticize

Thanks for the tips... added some to my cart.
Please share how long you have found that the power bank last. Thanks
@tdhawk167 To give you a very rough idea, it can recharge my cellphone from dead to full about 2-3 times. A tablet from dead to full once or twice. Smaller items like the batteries for my GoPro and similar essentials hardly drain the power bank at all...it discharges very, very slowly. IMO, it is worth every penny of the inexpensive price 👌
Support your local PLA
My water heater like that boils water in about 5 minutes. If yours takes 25 minutes, something is wrong with it. Maybe you are using different power. I really like mine.
Try the dash egg cooker and the dash rice cooker. I bet you will also like them.
what are you plugging theses 12voly product into?
My Prius powers my fridge via the 12V port.
You can get usb power banks that will put out 12v, or any car will give you 12v. 12v is excellent, as long as you don’t need to send the power over a long distances.
💜
The first one is useless to real car/van dwellers. My smallest power station is almost 0.5kw, my main is 2.5kw, and my batteries are 5kw. Im not even in a wagon or suv/van and I’m competing with van dwellers on power storage. With 800watts of solar at 24v or 400watts at 48v.
Gas all the way Fuck EV’s and hybrids. 40mpg and 0-60mph in 5 seconds fully loaded camper sedan
Just ordered the steering wheel tray thank you 👍🏻
Fantastic! I hope you find it as useful as I do 👍 Cheers!
Are you running your car?
take it out so we can see it
25 minutes to boil a cup of water and the listing calls it "fast" lol
For a 12 volt DC power input, that IS fast. Of course a camping stove is faster, but not only will it require gas, but you generally have to use it outdoors.
I have a 1 Liter 12v kettle. If I want make pour over coffee while traveling I put water in, plug it in after I pull into a rest area and go use the restroom 🚻 & do my walking around to stretch the water is hot and ready to use for pour over or oatmeal or whatever you want hot water for.
He probably meant 25 seconds, lol 😆
@@mrs.onyango6504 turns out for a 12V device 25 minutes isn't a long wait.
since you are living out of your car you must not have a very large wardrobe?
Thank you but fixing electronic windows is not going to be possible. I'm on a fixed income. No savings. It is what it is. Thank you though.
I assume you’ll be selling furniture and other possessions to downsize to vehicle living. Sell sell sell that stuff and put the money towards fixing your windows. Not a good idea to live in a vehicle with open/broken windows.
1970s’s sad
Why are you yelling?
He's probably trying to talk over background noise. If you live like he does road noise is insane trying to talk on the phone or record content 💜
