The best living example of how to be a truly good, honorable and compassionate man! Americans treated him very shabbily during his time as president, he deserved much better and more of our support.
Go back and read what happened during his presidency. Yes, he's a decent man but he was not a good president.
To replace this wonderful, honest, compassionate man as president with a lying treacherous, deceitful republican turned my stomach then and infuriates me to this day.

Years ago, my wife and I visited his boyhood home. There was a recording of his voice as we toured the house, talking about what life was like back when he was a boy. That trip will always stick with me! We were so fortunate to have such an honorable man serve as President. I didn't always know that, but I know it now! In fact I had already realized it by the time we took that trip!

💖. I shook his hand as he was going through the crowd to leave, had finished his speech in Portland, Oregon, at the then Four Court Fountain, across from The Civic Auditorium. He was then and still is a wonderful man and I was lucky to have met him. He was my first presidential vote. I love you, Jimmy, thanks for being there. 👁️💙🇺🇸

He is what Christianity actually looks and acts like. Jimmy Carter was the person I first voted for president when I became eligible to vote . He and his lovely wife Rosalyn are the epitome of grace, kindness, compassion, generosity and the golden rule. I am so grateful to have lived in a time where their love , light and understated brilliance left a clear and magnificent example of Christian values. They will forever be in my heart and mind . It'd be nice if he made it to a century old because he'd be the first US president to do so.
When I was much younger in the 70's when Jimmy was president I had just gotten out of the Coast Guard and was started college. I was immature and very limited on life experiences so I voted for him but was highly disappointed in him as president. Over time I started to appreciate him and all that he did for world peace that without exception I can say he is my all time favorite President. He is truly a man of peace and he saw the world for what it was then spent his life working hard to make it a better place. Thank you President Carter.... you are appreciated.

This Canadian citizen loved Jimmy Carter. Best president ever.
I've told this story before.25 years ago or so, driving in LA going west on Olympic blvd towards Santa Monica and I hit the "mother of all traffic jams". I mean I've been in LA forever and I am not a wimp when it comes to traffic jams but this one was off the charts bad, bad, bad. Literally moved maybe a quarter mile in 30 minutes. Finally I get near the big Century City Mall and see some traffic Cops sitting in their motorcycles and since we were barely moving I yelled a question to the Cops..."Why all the traffic on a Tuesday?" A Cop yells back "Jimmy Carter signing books at a store in the Mall".So thousands of people fought bumper to bumper traffic just for a chance to buy a book and get Jimmy Carter to sign it. Then I thought about the traffic -- sure there were few luxury cars Caddies, Mercedes, Rolls Royces -- bit most of the traffic were beaters - 10-20 year old middle class or lower middle class type vehicles. All these folks showing their respect...VERY impressive...

@Jeremiah-mk1xl There were a group of 3 elderly men who unfailingly visited their hospitalized elderly friend daily. The visiting men had agreed to pray earnestly for their friend's healing. During one visit the ailing man confided to his friends that he'd been faithful and, like Paul, now desired to fold up his tent and go home.He then said, "I don't know WHY the Lord won't release me." The 3 visitors quit praying for his healing. Rather they prayed for God's will too be done. Their ailing friend died soon thereafter. I'm a hospice volunteer. Sometimes the kindest thing to do is to exercise empathy and wish another person Godspeed.

Actually helping to prolong someone's suffering when you know they won't get better and are going to live in paradise with God when they die where there's no pain, suffering or sorrow is not what God wants. Paul in the bible knew that. That's why he said he'd like to fold up his tent (meaning having his physical body die) and go home to heaven except he had more work to do on earth. Do you understand how beautiful and awesome and wonderful heaven is? Would you have prayed for Christ to live to 100 while he hung on the cross being slowly tortured to death? Of course not but maybe you're not a Christian and don't know about these things? In any case it's really always best to pray that God's will be done. He knows best.
