"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than be loved for who I am not" I think this is something we all should endorse while creating and giving out to the people at large.
OK. Here I am. Taking the 2 seconds that Chris requested to comment something. You know... I usually come here for business advice to make my brain go firework-y, but almost always end up having a therapy session I never knew I needed. Much love to The Futur from Nairobi, Kenya from this grateful South Sudanese chap😁
Bro, this is amazing! It’s my first time learning about personal branding from this perspective. Before now, I’ve been very selective with my content. I’ve written pieces about my insecurities and vulnerabilities that deeply move my inner circle when I share them. But posting them on social media has always been a challenge. I hear so many voices in my head, and those pieces end up gathering dust in my notepad. I’ve always felt like I’d lose followers if I shared them. I guess that’s what you described as “pretending.” This is a wake-up call for me. It’s 2 a.m., and I’m wide awake. This is such valuable information to start my day. Thank you!
Wow. I’m just here, popcorn in hand, soaking it all in. It’s not a show - it’s something even better: a beautiful conversation between two friends, and we’re lucky enough to be part of it. Thank you so much for that.
56:09 I’m proud of you. I love you. There’s nothing that you ever can do that can change that. No matter what you did, even if you murdered someone, committed the most heinous crime, I still would love you. Do not allow anyone else to tell you otherwise. You don’t have to do anything to deserve this; you don’t have to do anything to earn this. You get it by existing. Thank you, Chris. I never heard this from my family, and this message was never relayed to me, except when I was very young by my mother. She has passed away. I'm quitting my job that is draining my soul tomorrow. I just want to thank you.
Fantastic call out, Chris. Vulnerability isn’t a tool or a strategy. Being authentic can be a loaded interaction online. I think this is one reason why you see most really solid creators being 30+. They’re old enough to have struggled and refined their inner world before sharing it with everyone online.
Obsessing about customer perception is pretty smart for a company - that's why marketing and PR departments exist. Obsessing about it as an individual is a neurosis.
I have visited the top of the mountain and hopefull listen to Chris's words. I have been talking the last few weeks and done some self reflection. Coming out of it my personal brand has taken a big shift. Focused on the reality of what I am and continue to hope to be. Elevator Pitch: "Hi, I'm Scott. I am a master of little, well versed in much, knowledgable enough to know I will always want to know more, willing to be humble, and blessed to have have fallen often." I am happy to always be a work in progress, as long as I am willing to know I no nothing.
This really resonates very deeply with me. I feel like I am one of the authentic people and it works well in person, but doesn't translate as well online. I love and prefer doing work in person, but having a challenge actualizing and monetizing online content because of my challenges with branding and exploiting the psychology behind it to manipulate other people's actions and reactions to fit what I believe they should be doing... I am definitely open to finding a branding person to work with, but so far 98% of them have been authentically inauthentic as well as gimmicky and exploitative in their approach... Thanks for diving into this!
Love this episode! So many things that hit the nail on the head! One of the things that resonated deeply is the part where you talked about "Ask-holes". When people talk to me about their ideas or what they've done... They're looking for praises and validation. That's so true! When I responded with honest opinions about why it's unlikely to work... They thought I'm being mean. Well, I don't mind being the hated guy since I responded out of good intentions. Thanks for bringing up this topic! :)
Hallelujah :) The message of showing up with authenticity, especially since the adaptation of "social media", really needs to be championed more - thanks, Chris, for your no-BS filter - I'm all for it!
By far the best episode I’ve listened to! This captures exactly what it means to do the inner work that ripples out into who/what we do and how we brand ourselves. I loved hearing both of you talk about the soul of the creator, and Chris nailed it when discussing this in the digital landscape. I’ve always appreciated Chris’s honesty-even when it’s blunt or challenging, it invites a compassionate curiosity lens rather the need to protect ourselves, which can often feel like a huge disconnection in today's world. Thank you for the honesty and thoughtful blend in this episode! 😊
This video was incredibly powerful, and it deeply resonated with me, especially around the 45-minute mark. I’m about to launch my own design and marketing business, and the biggest challenge I face is showing up on social media and putting myself out there. The truth is, I’ve always struggled with this because I don’t want to be part of the often “fake” world of social media and Personal branding that is exploited for marketing purposes in a manipulative way, without delivering genuine authenticity. For the past 20 years, I’ve been hiding whenever possible because I’ve always been afraid of exposing myself to strangers. Sitting in a wheelchair, I constantly fear being judged. Growing up, I experienced a time when people often assumed that physical disabilities also meant mental disabilities. This deeply wounded me and has affected both my self-esteem and my belief in myself (and, to some extent, in others as well). Right now, the most important thing I’m working on is letting go of that fear of judgment, learning to believe in myself, and internalizing the fact that times have changed, society has evolved, and I shouldn’t limit myself based on outdated beliefs that no longer serve me. Thank you for the reminder!
Wooosaaah. I"m loving the vibe of you're conversations. Heavy, deep and painfully true but empowering. It's about time somebody preaches this out to the world. 5 years ago I was trying so hard to get validation trying to be someone who I am not using my social feed to create that personal brand that killed my creativity & botched my self-image, paved the way towards a tragic event in 2020; my block out era then 2022 I'm back but under a rock fast forward 3 years, 2024 finally its the season of finding my way back to world I started exploring the art of content creation and MAN THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE HARDEST, longest time it took me to write a comment. I appreciate you're content, more power what y'all are trying to achieve. -BC Manila, PH
I just started content creating this september, and i really just want to pursue something i know i would be passionate about even if its just small videos of the curated things i love. litlle did i know that pursuing this journey would make me love it more as it helped me to be introspective and learn how to discover myself more, heal from certain wounds i dont tell anyone. I do agree that personal branding requires you to be healed and have a more clear view of the world not by your perception due to many external influences that has ruined and made us normalize things that are kinda not so good anymore.
Following your CTA and would like to say the talk has been insightful and invigorating! Need that little push in the right direction. Keep inspiring, keep guiding! Thank you.
I think this might be the longest video I've watched so far on The Futur Channel .. but everything Mo & Chris shared was on point. Now I don't need to feel bad ignoring people who DM me asking for my opinion on their logo .. lol. Thanks for sharing!
I appreciate your blunt and bold honesty. Blunt and bold may not be my style, but I respect and value integrity. Thank you for being visible and having integrity.
😂I have NEVER seen Chris as rough. Rather been impressed by how kindly he/you see everyone. I realize constructive criticism is what I value as kindness. Never thought of it that way. Thanks
I would alchemize those words further . “Constructive criticism” -> “direct feedback”, “honest feedback” or just “feedback”. Hearing the word “criticism” puts your mind on the defensive. I try to alchemize all negative words and completely remove them from my vocabulary, because words are spells, that’s why they call it “spelling”. (Eg I say “bad” as “not good”). Our subconscious mind does not hear the word “not”. 😉
I wish they explained me in this way personal brand when I did a diploma in Marketing. I always feel self conflicted about the general concept of personal brand, so much pressure to accept that it’s the way things work and just surrender to the social media circus 🤡. Great to have a different and more real perspective of personal brand.
Absolutely brilliant, thank you! I've heard about you before, but recently met Avital Eusgeld, and watching your interview together got me on your channel. I'm very excited to see the next episode.
Phenomenal Video. I am spending months getting my apparel company ready. I am going to be different than many companies out there. I am a different thinker and I am doing it my way. Not listening to all of these short time drop shippers. I found this video to be very inspiring. Thank you!
Thanks man, you are very inspirative from day 1. I am following you from your first vide with Hose. Dev not a designer but still content is relevant to everyone. We need more people like you to build hype and inspire more people so we can build better world.
30 minutes in and I've legit been like "Bingo! Exactly! Clock it! *poetry snaps*" The quiet part needed to be said out loud, especially for creatives. This video is 🤌🏾🔥
On point, gentlemen. About 2 months ago i followed a lot of people talking about topics like starting a business, marketing and branding. Since many of these channels were praised beyond belief by other content creators,. I had no clue about entrepreneurship, so i assumed it was legit. I deleted 70% of my saved videos for 2 weeks because the junk just takes up space. i don't want to dedicate my time or take advice from these people. the more i hear and see, the clearer it becomes how i do NOT want to be perceived when i launch. So thank you for the change of perspective...
This is power and just the kind of thing I like to hear! I feel it’s the same in real life, most people are just transactional interactions even at home.
The intro: Father forgive me for what I'm about to do is so much like a rap intro reference. Christ makes serious no bullshit talk sound so inspiring. Let me go on and watch the rest of the video. 🔥🔥
Tricky part is - showing your true vulnerable self might not work in every industry. And after you initiated that, not sure you can revert back. Imagine a fashion designer who should evoke being prestigious - talking about his personal life etc. Not sure it works well with the DNA of the industry.
@@universweet5593thanks for chiming in. Are you sure this timecode relates to the aspect I was talking about? I don't think I understand your point. Here's an example. Google Nadia Lee Cohen. She's an artist/photographer/model. See what she's about, what's her vibes. She's very sought after. Would you imagine her having a youtube channel, sharing her personality/true inner self with her followers? I don't see it happening. Maybe because what she does demands her to have so space/gap between her and her audience/clients? So, she becomes more sought after? That's what I'm saying..it feels like Chris is right, but there might be cases and industries where you just don't see (successful) people do that. And if they do- then they stay in the RUclips realms. Not deep in their industry. So, they cater more to their followers than to potential clients
46 mins in. Taking a lot of notes, as I usually do with all high quality teachings, so I can integrate. I highly resonate with: vulnerability, non-judgement, self care, self love, self acceptance, acceptance of others, authentic self unapologetically me. The BEST part so far has been “where is Jimmy’s soul”, which peaks into a much deeper layer that Chris is on, though I’m curious what angle you’re viewing that from: a) control and manipulation and NPC, b) authentic expression of a full-fledged spirit (eg how many lifetimes he’s been incarnated and clearly this lifetime is a highly impactful one along your soul’s path). To be continued, as my 8yo daughter is bidding me to play with her. Be back later 😂
Thanks for making this video. It puts thing in perspective for me. I've learned a lot of personal branding but I felt something was missing. I found it. I know where to start.
i followed bcoz a youtuber recommended best channel for learning GD , but i didn't know I will b learning so much more imp things helpful life . this is soo much more valuable than i thought
I want to be the best version of me, and want to understand more. So thanks for saying things loudly & I will try to carry your voice even when you are gone
I always love listening to these conversations you have about personal branding. I think this is why I fell in love with branding / content - because for me, it has 110% been a personal growth journey. Entrepreneurship has also allowed me to find more of those great people who give the constructive feedback we all need but also act as a safe place to continue to grow and be vulnerable.
A bit off topic, but I just want to say now I don't really have the right crowd that can lift me up and breakthru to the next level, maybe in the future but for now what I do is I just listen to you Chris and your guests, because listening to you I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and this keeps me going.
As someone who relates to you; being an introvert(INTP not INTJ), middle child and being perceived as rude because I don't know how to sugarcoat and talk directly, with the effects that all those things can have on a person like being good listener and avoiding conflict as much as possible (accepting the wrong order in a restaurant), I'm still carrying all that baggage and social anxiety can be triggered just by reading a heated comment. Since I've been living under that cloud for some time now I don't even know how my healed version of me is supposed to look like so that I can visualize that person. And since you're partially that healed version of me I wanna know how it actually feels internally when a conflict happens with a waiter( not what you'll do, yes you would say hey I didn't order this type of sauce or whatever) but how you feel that moment you see that they did something wrong and you know that you gotta act, does it feel like you need to fight something inside you, is it intentional to act ot it becomes subconscious and your heart doesn't start increasing ready to enter conflict mode?
I have enjoyed this, this is really good. I have a goal/standard to impact 100 people a month this year. This video was very impactful and chris is a master.
The video context resonates with me, I always thought that I want people to know who I really am, how I think & hopefully find my people who like me for who I am.
The gaslighting is that we usually see the 'too cool for school', bad a$$, mysterious artists get ahead big time. Not the eye-level, friendly, don't take themselves seriously artists. Mostly (not all) they stay in RUclips realms.
Great discussion. Yes, false vulnerability for the purpose of generating sales/followers is a bigly problem in the rah rah female digital marketing sphere. I love direct, and the older I get the tougher it is to be anything but - and that's a good thing.
Absolutely. Success comes as a result of us consciously and actively participating in this process of becoming this new, more evolved version of ourselves, not the other way around. ♡
I start following Chris for his insight of closing sales but I found more wisdom than that we make money for a better life but if i can have a better life right now I would rather have it thanks Chris
💜 TY! You speak my language Chris... I'm also abrasive, not intentionally, but because I'm confident and I love having critical conversations and people can't handle it sometimes.
Thanks for this amazing Content Chris only you and Alex Hormozi helped me a lot to understand more of the "wisdom" side of Branding and what it's actually about!
Duuude... I watched one of your Keynotes last week where you mentioned being 52 years old, and my respect for you immediately shot through the roof. I already respected and liked you, but knowing you have 10 years on me just made me listen even harder. Gettin' that life advice, yo.
WOW Chris such a profound conversation... So relevant especially now that vulnerability is being marketed to attract more clients. Thanks for this great video 🎉
Chris your original & educative since l saw your channel over a period of two years, thanks. Am a Ugandan citizen 🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬. Tiktok creators have no time to understand branding are just fancy. Big up. Ur truly open minded.👍👍👍
Just watched the whole video - Chris, I know you’re not religious and as cheekily stated that you’re the Anti-Chris of the church of Branding, I felt like you gave us a beautiful sermon on healing our inauthenticity and embracing our true selves. Miracles will come out from this video. Preach on, brotha 🙏
I understand the viewpoint that we live in a society that glorifies success to the extent that it leads people to pursue what they believe is the ideal of success. It often feels like if you're not making a lot of money and being admired, you have no value in society. However, it's important to recognize that these ideals are often superficial, and the pursuit of popularity can be toxic.
Chris, I feel like you have a prophetic line right to my life. I’ve been working at this for a long time and I agree with everything you say, but I find that I must still be missing something.
Just discovered u bruv. Yoututbr algorithm can be our superpower for the future when we are going exactly in that direction you are crippling on. You know where you stand and where you want to go but at the same time aware that you are as well in process of something bigger. Inspiring other creators through living out PURE you I find insanely amazing. Now at this point I feel like I am ready to make the steps I need to do in the following days and weeks! Thank you so much for that pure, golden, legendary & nourishing piece of future building. Whoever reads this: you are loved, unconditionally. ❤We can do it when we follow into the spirit of what Chris is trying to capture here. This is new earth thinking, healing, revealing, feeling. How to get there? -- Together…
"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than be loved for who I am not"
I think this is something we all should endorse while creating and giving out to the people at large.
OK. Here I am. Taking the 2 seconds that Chris requested to comment something. You know... I usually come here for business advice to make my brain go firework-y, but almost always end up having a therapy session I never knew I needed. I’m glad you’re finding it helpful. Welcome to the Futur
@thefutur thank you for replying 😇💓 means a lot
This is the best conversation that I’ve yet to hear about personal branding. Valuable and thought-provoking.
I appreciate you!
Thank you 🙏
Laying down the UNBELIEVABLE truth! thanks Chris for these teachings :)
You're welcome!
Awesome Lindsey
starting my day working out while listening to this podcast
I loved the interview and delving into personal branding. Thank you.
A bit off topic, but I just want to say now I don't really have the right crowd that can lift me up and breakthru to the next level, maybe in the future but for now what I do is I just listen to you Chris and your guests, because listening to you I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and this keeps me going.
we will be your support group of positive thinking creators.
All I need is your videos, and one good year.
I really appreciate hearing that my bluntness does not have to be a drawback as long as I pair it with my compassion. So glad to have your content.
You're welcome.

great talk, luv the dynamic between you two. Keep the long conversations going
Thank you both for the content!
I would say, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to bother you, but I didn’t get what I ordered. Can you help me?
Chris asked me to comment, I appreciate you sharing all this great wisdom.
I am in Dubai going to Phuket soon
I have enjoyed this, this is really good. I have a goal/standard to impact 100 people a month this year. This video was very impactful and chris is a master.
One of the best episodes from Chris on working on myself as a human being - keeping this at heart
Real, real, real. "Lipstick on a pig" describes so well the culture of personal branding. Nice one Chris.
I am watching this to learn who I am actually and then become who I am. 😊
Great discussion. Yes, false vulnerability for the purpose of generating sales/followers is a bigly problem in the rah rah female digital marketing sphere. I love direct, and the older I get the tougher it is to be anything but - and that's a good thing.
Loved this! Liked and saved 👊🏿
Definitely loving the Mid Roll reminders haha Here for it.
I appreciate this video🙏🏽it has given me a path to find out who i am and my personal brand. Thank you!
Absolutely.
Success comes as a result of us consciously and actively participating in this process of becoming this new, more evolved version of ourselves, not the other way around. ♡
Yes 🙌
Very powerful messages...thanks very much for "reframing" my viewpoints!
Fantastic video, guys! Chris shared a LOT of golden knowledge here. Thank you 🙏🏻❤
Was praying for this message today...47'16" Drown out the noise find somoen that you can look to.
Enjoyed so much!!!
You absolutely have to do the inner work. It’s the only way.
It’s the only way to be true to yourself.
Thank You! Super helpful! Needed this!❤
I start following Chris for his insight of closing sales
but I found more wisdom than that
we make money for a better life
but if i can have a better life right now
I would rather have it
thanks Chris
💜 TY! You speak my language Chris... I'm also abrasive, not intentionally, but because I'm confident and I love having critical conversations and people can't handle it sometimes.
Thank you very much - it was an interesting conversation. Looking forward to the next!
Thank you 🙏
@@thefutur I value and appreciate your wisdom and advice. Thank YOU!

Wow, thank you
CHRIS IS AN AMAZING HUMAN BEING!!!
Thank you Josh. Did you publish any of the recordings?
@@thefutur Currently editing it and planning it out this week!
I did enjoy this, thanks for the great conversation 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow this video has addressed what I was looking for when it comes to personal branding, thank you
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and for being honest. You are an inspiration for me and so many others.
I'm glad you found it valuable.
The Aaron Draplin example is so good!
Loved this video! Looking forward the next part. 🔥
Chris, I feel like you have a prophetic line right to my life. I’ve been working at this for a long time and I agree with everything you say, but I find that I must still be missing something.
What are you missing g Jesse?
@ If I knew I wouldn’t be missing it! It’s more of a feeling.
You give us insights & enlightenment of the game in the cooperate business world.
Thank you for the real talk. This is true burnout prevention.
You're welcome, glad you found it insightful.
