A few days ago while my dad was fixing our driveway, he saw a baby. He didn’t know what snake it was, so he called me out and lifted our football. Right under, was a baby Eastern Garter Snake. I got to hold him and he kept running for shade. We left him alone and named him Michael 😂
I watched about them on BBC yesterday. They seek their female partner by racing through the terrains with others and the ones who reach females the first, the female do it with all of them. Ghosh! Life i guess
I love catching these snakes, but one thing I’m not a fan of, and you can see it in this video, is how they poop on you 😂 but hell if I was a snake I would also poop on a human for picking me up 😂 put me down please
I'm also from New England. Mass Not sure what the real name is but when I was a kid "greenies" (fairly aggressive) and "brownies" (super chill) were EVERYWHERE. Racers were the more rare find. Housing development completely leveled and destroyed the environment. They're all gone now. Haven't seen a brown or green snake in 15 years. Now I only find these racers. Found a blue racer baby way off in the woods recently. Very rare for this area, so beautiful.
I think the way he worded, his thought was odd "its about 90 degrees so not too cold" ik hes talking about garter snakes but, he could have said it differently
HA HA you got MUSKED!
Yup it happens to the best of us haha
I'll take a garter any day. Always made me feel good when I couldn't find anything else. Plus, not as common in AZ.
Yep, so true. I haven't done any herping out that way yet but know that your garters are also pretty incredible.
Much a snake 🐍💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

I want to be like this guy just to be able to grab a snake
He could do a great Kermit the frog impersonation I bet.
Still bringing us weekly content despite losing all that footage. I love the effort you put into this channel!
I'm doing my best to keep producing content for all you amazing people!
Awesome video! I love garter snakes, they are definitely very cool!
Thanks for watching Derek!
Bruh, it's so hard to find snakes but I'm still tryin

Aww that's awesome, I hope you see Michael again haha
Awwww It’s so cute 🥰
It was definitely adorable!
How many time have you been bitten from picking up a wild snake?
I watched about them on BBC yesterday. They seek their female partner by racing through the terrains with others and the ones who reach females the first, the female do it with all of them. Ghosh! Life i guess
If it gets a business degree it’s a barter snake lolololoool
I love this
You’re the best my guy!
No, YOU are the best!

They can be pretty stinky little noodles for sure!
You know how much I was scared of snakes
I know theyre not dangerous but i still hate when im gardening and i get a jump scare from one popping out from somewhere. 😂
Haha they can be quite surprising
Found a garter in a friends yard just two days ago!
So ones in our yard, when I’m cutting grass it won’t bother me? It won’t bite me or anything, I don’t have to kill it?
Nope, won't bother you one bit!
They don't even have fangs so even if it bite you it wouldn't even hurt much
I saw a garter snake. In Michigan
I'm pretty sure that there's one in our yard
Nice, we've definitely had them in our yard a few times!
Here in Maryland I see at least one per week. I love snakes. Great video and a new sub is deserved
Nice!
Thanks Chris!

Aww that's sad. Maybe greenies are smooth green snakes and brownies are Dekay's brown snakes?
snakes saw a man with a camera and was not wanting to be a part….then you snatched it up 💆🏾♂️
omg i ran into one of these at a park in new york state over the summer and it was so pretty and was like bobbing his head and dancing for us😅
Aww that's cool!
whats the dif between a garter and a dekays brown ?
Garters get way bigger and are semi-aquatic, dekays browns are more terrestrial and fossorial!
Awesome!
Seen one here in Jersey by a creek actually.
We have these in Cincinnati
I see the regular garter snakes here in Hamilton in my yard. I miss Cincinnati tho.
I just saw one today and it just tried to bite my shoe. 🐍
Checkered back?
Aww he peed. 😢
I think the way he worded, his thought was odd "its about 90 degrees so not too cold"

He peed on you. 😅
Garters actually musk as a defense mechanism. It's like being sprayed by a skunk too. It smells awful lol
Jus saved one from my cat... Hopefully 😥 nice creatures
They also reek😂
Let it go you brut
Cry about it kid
The most common here in Ohio too😂
What’s up
Do they get much bigger? I think I could handle this little cutie, (alas I don't mean Ben. LOL! 😁), but not the snakes we have here in Australia!
Thanks for replying Ben. 😁
I think I'll continue to leave all snakes in Australia alone. LOL!
