What's amazing about this scene is how Ashley is affected by the President's charm when he asks if her father's proud. She looks up at him and instantly relaxes. That is a trait in all successful politicians in democracies. They seem to have an uncanny ability to affect people in person. Even, or perhaps especially, their enemies.

I want a West Wing reboot. But have a President who is first generation American (e.g. son or daughter of Taiwanese immigrants for the tension w/ China). Think it would be interesting to continue off of the West Wing (that had a President Santos already), and perhaps they could have someone who models after Barack and another that models after Trump, and the new guy or gal serving as Commander in Chief (that I propose above) has to clean up the historic mess.

In an earlier scene Josh talks with Donna about his favorite teacher and mentions a “Mr. Feig” who taught his high school American History A.P. and Con Law classes. Werner Feig was Aaron Sorkin’s (and my) wonderful history teacher of both courses at Scarsdale High School in NY. I’ve never smiled more than in 2002 when I was watching the original broadcast of this episode and heard Sorkin’s tribute to Mr. Feig.
