    I think the car shampoo you are using is meant to be used in a foam cannon attached to the end of the nozzle. Foam thickens the soap, allowing the soap to stay on the panels longer than if it were just soapy water. The foam will break down the dirt, carrying the dirt with it as it drips down to the ground. That is why it's generally recommended to let the foam sit on the car. You also mentioned that some people say the downside of an electric pressure washer is inadequate pressure. That's actually not the case, in fact it's the flow rate that is lacking. Ultimately, all electric pressure washers are limited by the electric power supplied to the motor. 120VAC * 15A = 1.8 kW is your bottleneck for most electric pressure washers.

      Thanks for the input. I'm definitely not a pressure washer expert 😂 The description for the soap says the foam canon is optional. It is something I thought about getting eventually tho.
      Even with dirt cakes onto the bottom of the car and in the wheel wells from the dirt roads, this soaping method seems to loosen everything really well.

    I have the same pressure washer as well. I use it on my pool deck, pool cage, drive way, exterior walls and car wash. I added an extra 25' pressure hose and a 5 1/2' extension spray wand which really makes it handier. I'm pretty happy with it.

    Since you live on a dirt road, you may wish to consider taking the time to coat your car with a ceramic coating, instead of wax. Then, when you soap up and rinse off, it will come clean better than ever. I use a Armor Shield IX from AvalonKing. As a DYI project it has really helped the paint on my 1998 Ford Explorer. Now, even a rain shower will clean up my car. Give it a look.

    • @DirtyTesla
      @DirtyTesla  5 лет назад +1

      That's awesome! Thanks. I've looked into ceramic but I'm not very handy and was worried I wouldn't do the prep steps good enough for the ceramic to look good/work well...

    Back in 2007, I bought a John Deere gas powered pressure washer, and have never regretted it. The nice thing about the better gas engine pressure washers is flow rate. I get 3 gallons per minute (GPM) out of the John Deere. The GPM is nice for speed of rinsing. So 2,800 PSI and 3 GPM makes for fast washing. It's 12 years later, and all I've done is changed the oil and plug a few times. No regrets.

    • @DirtyTesla
      @DirtyTesla  5 лет назад +1

      Ah, so when you have more gpm you can move faster, but it doesn't mean it's more powerful. Thank you! I wasn't sure why I'd need more water coming out. I appreciate the input! :)

    Good stuff!
    I have the Sun Joe SPX3001 and love it. It’s definitely enough pressure to wash a car. I’d recommend a foam cannon for sure. I just have a cheap MATCC one that costs about $17 on Amazon and works just as good as the name brand ones that are $50+. I’ve used it for 3 years now and absolutely no issues.

    • @DirtyTesla

      Thanks for the recommendation! Foam canon is on the list but just wasn't sure which was best :)

      I’m not sure if this the “best” but it seems to get the job done just fine. Just actually used it on my Model 3 this morning.

  • @BrianJoslyn
    @BrianJoslyn 5 лет назад +2

    I've not searched myself, but maybe there's a hose water filter adapter available that you could use.
    I was going to ask how the washer knows whether you want to use water or soap. Then you said you didn't know if any soap was coming out with the other nozzles on. I couldn't tell either way! With the exception of when you stopped spraying with the soap nozzle I saw 'some' soap rolling down the car.

    • @DirtyTesla
      @DirtyTesla  5 лет назад +2

      I could add my spigots onto my water softener to get rid of rust, but just not something I wanted to do. As long as I dry the car after washing, I don't get any water spots so I don't really care. Our water isn't very rusty anyway.
      Yeah the soap only seems to come out with the soap nozzle, or when you have no nozzle (but the pressure washer doesn't work well without a nozzle) so there is some way it regulates soap by the size of the opening. And when that soap was rolling down, I couldn't tell if it was left over or still coming out...

      I just re-watched a little bit and it may just be the camera angle but it kinda looks like your tire a little flat. Maybe it's not, but I thought I'd mention it. I've seen from another vlogger that Tesla tires are definitely different, so it might be fine.

    • @DirtyTesla

    It would be nice to test the gpm rating.
    I've seen other youtuber take a 5 gallon bucket, with a lid, cut a hole on the lid. Than spray the water for a 1 min and c how much it fills the bucket.
    They say its rated 1.76 gpm, but generally it's not rated what they say.
    Lot of car detailers on youtube will test the flow rate. It seems pretty important and makes sense.

    I watched a TFL car you tubevideo out of Colorado where they have a Model 3 long term test car the car had a smash and they took the car to a repair shop they interviewed the repair guy who said they had one Tesla in and around the battery and underneath the car wasn’t properly sealed ,have you had you’re car checked ?as you’re car would be vulnerable commuting on a dirt road the combination of water and mud getting into areas not good for a EV

    • @DirtyTesla

      Yeah I've seen that. I'm really interested to see if anything is getting stuck up there, but I don't hear anything and from my understanding the problem is not on all cars. The flat bottom has been great for the dirt roads.
