I'm 29 years old now. When I was a little boy, I remember playing this game. It does bring back sad memories because I was living in an abusive foster home in Berhnards Bay, New York, Oneida County. I lived there from ages 4 to 11. Awful place. But I do remember that game.
The Japanese game your talking about is actually here in the u.s also its a neo geo game called irritating Maze and when you hit the walls in the arcade version a bright light goes off and it shoots smoke at you it actually scares the shit out of you
There was also two other handheld versions of this game, both had the scream, vibrate and light, but with different takes on the plastic housing. one was called maze runner and the other was actually called Tact Tracer like you see when you first boot Zap! up. The company also filed a patent for Tact Tracer 2. Though I can't find out if any made it into production for North America. Company that designed the mazes was WATERCOR, LTD.
Thats not 8bit first NES had it the one you hear from for example c64 isnt 8 bit at all just download emulators and play somthing you will notice huge difrance
I thought I lost my Zap! but I think my mom stole it from me. When I finally found it in her room, the battery was dead and it kinda smelled like catfish.
nice review, that truly does look pretty good for an lcd game, there's a lot of dots, you can do a lot more with dots then the awful shapes lcd games usually use, like most of those awful tiger games

I had it when I was a kid. There is a glitch that allows you to get out of the labyrinth and go directly to the finish.
