You have to learn the story behind this greek folk song. This folk song made on the turkish period in Greece. It says that is a greek man who loves one woman who lives on the next neighborhood. But he doesn't know her name and specially his nationality. Finally he is afraid to learn her name because if she is turkish he won't be able to tell to anyone that a greek is in love with a muslim. In LOVE there are no borders nations and religions
This is another OMG.That background music through out the song, with that instrument? in the foreground and then the change to the guitar and flute? was amazing. You were right about the build up OMG. And you were right about his vocals. Thanks for sharing! I loved it!
i think after the build up, it should be something in the same drum rythm combined with flute and clarino. not the base riff again. that would be amazing :D
@@ProgPigletyou can also check this traditional version during a local festivity, from the region that villagers of Ioannina city come from ruclips.net/video/nkf6QiYeKwg/видео.htmlsi=XIQBOdkO7PFziezH
Lyrics What crime did I, the poor one, do and I'm considered everywhere as a killer ? O, Minas, I killed noone and kissed no girl. There is a girl in my neighbourhood that I love and whose name I don't know. Red Daphne or Apple. I don't know whether she has Turkish or Greek roots. And, suppose I die, I demand -once you bury me- you cloack her shirt with a shroud and you wash me using tears from her eyes....
This was great. Loved the groove and the stark contrast of the Clarino/Clarion (and the flute was a Kaval) over the heavier groove. That build was fantastic as well, really took me somewhere else while listening to it. No idea what the vocals were saying but his voice as an instrument was really just, fuck not sure how to describe it. Borderline psychedelic or trance -inducing. really great stuff will have to check out their bandcamp. Good shit
I love your reaction bro. No1 band in Greece v.i.c. No2. 1000mods No3. Planet of Zeus. No3(but better and older) nightstalker... Mathe balitsa agori Moy.
Even a well-known classical instrument like the clarinet sounds somehow strange when used in a different way, like it's used in Greek folk music. Greek folk musicians incorporated it in their repertoire, obviously sometime after 1700 (when it was invented), most probably during the 19th century (after Greek independence and perhaps as part of the cultural influence brought by the new imposed German king), replacing to some extend the traditional zourna instrument. Today, Epirus folk music (where this band hails from) and the sound of the clarinet are considered synonymous in Greece.
Look at you! How happy this music made you! So, this is Greek metal stoner with the influence of traditional Greek music. They usually (in the old albums ) use traditional lyrics from old songs like rebetiko genre and mix it into the music. The guitar meets the traditional instruments like klarino, that you where wondering. If you could understand more of the language the song gives some rage vibes along with some happiness. It's a story from the old times during the ottoman occupation. Glad you liked them! I love them too!
Finally! So happy you like it! It’s an alternative rock cover of some Greek folk song. And these strange instruments are some ethical Greek wind instruments. Check out also The Next Hundred Years - FIT. I’m pretty sure you’ll like it . :)
So I was checking this out again and was trying to figure out what that build reminded me of. Finally got it. It is pretty similar to the ending instrumental jam of The Outlaw Torn by Metallica. Maybe a slight homage to it. Either way these guys are killer and the rest of this album is just as good if not better!

Hello from Ioannina city.
the instrument is called Clarino(clarinet) and its sound has shaped greek traditional folk.
It's probably a clarinet's ancestor but not an actual clarinet...
