Not your Mother's Fairy Tales: Sleeping Beauty

Holy cow this video was intense, but I am so pleased by how it turned out. This is the first in a series I've been wanting to do for a while of reworked fairy tales updated for the modern age and retellings that have never been told before, now here to grace your screen.
Since the exposition can be a little hard to follow (I was experimenting with a concept I saw on another video, don't know if I'll do it again though), here's the story:
Odette is born under great fanfare and is greeted by a prince who she eventually grows up with, though she doesn't like him very much and often day dreams about true love. After a few years, a stable boy sees a vision of her captured in a castle and resolves to rescue her.
During his journey, he is noticed by a young witch astral projecting who is instantly enamored with him. He doesn't notice her at all and continues on the way to the Princess. Alice wakes up and goes to see her mother, who happens to be a powerful fairy. John ends up sneaking into the castle and rescuing the Princess, where their friendship and love story begins.
Years later, John is a stable boy for the crown as reward for saving Odette, and Odette is made to spend time with the Prince, who she still doesn't care for. After she comes of age, Odette's Governess searches for her, but we find her in the garden with a now adult John. Prudence finds her and makes her get ready for a ball that night, but that doesn't stop John from finding her at the ball and sneaking her off to a romantic balcony. Prudence finds her again and makes her present herself to the Prince who just arrived. The Prince instantly wants to marry her, but Odette protests, saying she could never marry someone she does not love. Her father realizes her attachment to the stable boy is deeper than he thought, and throws John in the dungeon, leaving Odette heartbroken. When she goes to see him, he tells her he's due to be executed.
A heartbroken and determined Odette heads to Maleficent's castle and begs for a way to save John. Maleficent offers to put Odette under a sleeping curse that will save both of them from death, but only True Love's Kiss can break the curse. She agrees and goes under the spell, breaking the hearts of her parents and the Prince, who does genuinely love her.
Meanwhile, John is awaiting execution, and suddenly finds himself in a manor, losing his memory of Odette and living with Maleficent's daughter for some time, who wanted him for herself. Although he is happy there, a white rose jogs his memory of Odette and he leaves the heartbroken witch to find her. Cindy decides on revenge and casts a spell that creates a hedge of thorns around the castle, hoping it will encourage him to return to her. It does little to do so, and after traveling for several weeks over mountains and forests, a thorn hedge is nothing he can't handle.
Eventually he reaches Odette's chamber and wakes her with True Love's Kiss, leaving her overjoyed. The King finally sees that John loves Odette as much as she loves him, and allows them to marry, with a ball in their honor. The story ends with now Prince John and Odette sneaking away for a kiss under the moonlight.
I usually don't like putting the plot under my videos - I firmly believe that if the video needs the plot underneath to let viewers follow along it wasn't edited well, but I'm making an exception this time due to the nuances and incredibly fast pace of the video.

That it is Tabbi. Honestly I was tired of the borderline rapiness of the original story and the whole "love at first sight thing" so I fixed it to make more sense logically and for modern sensibilities. I also wanted to make the heroine far more active than she is in the original tale, putting herself under the sleeping curse to save her love from the gallows. Hopefully I did a good job .

Lol, I completely understand. I like to do the same thing with my own personal projects---that's why I'm never the first to finish my MEP parts. But no worries! You still have plenty of time before the deadline (August 15th). There are only 2 parts left on both volumes, so I'm excited :D
